Chapter 89

After closing the door behind him, he let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. He was fearful of the detectives because he had to close his eyes and catch his breath.

"Were they that scary?" Will was amused looking at the man

Lambert couldn't stand the suspense anymore "What happened, Bob?" When the guys in the surveillance had seen the car parked at their entrance, they reported it to Lambert, who felt off-guard.

Everyone had one thought in their mind 'search warrant' and it was driving both Will and Lambert crazy. Lambert tried calling the police chief but the old gizzard wasn't picking up his calls.

When the detectives had remained inside the car for almost forty minutes, they wondered whether they were only there to observe the surrounding. Their comfort was soon broken when they heard someone knocking at the door.

They had to ask Bob to tend to them because Bob and Will were not supposed to be seen by the police for reasons best known to them.

"Boss, the question should be who happened?" answered Bob

"What do you mean?" All the men were looking at Bob expectantly

"They were three detectives; the old one Mogan, and two new. What I can say is that all three of them combined almost made me pee in my pants."

"Did the town hire new detectives?" Will turned to look at Lambert

"Nothing that I know of, I need to call the chief because what happened here was an ambush"

After Bob explained everything that transpired outside, Will and Lambert decided to talk with the police chief. Ensuring that the detectives weren't lurking around the lab, they left the premises.

"What happened?" asked Dr. Adam

Tony turned to face him with a smile. "It seems like the police are onto them. Three detectives just talked with Bob, and by the way, he looked shaken, I believe that we could soon see the sun"

Dr. Adam looked at the hope in Tony's eyes and wished deep down in his heart that everything turns out positive for them. Dr. Adam believed that Adam was still a young man that didn't deserve to have his future wasted doing nothing.

"I hope so" Dr. Adam was around forty-five years when he was brought to work in the lab, and he believes that there is nothing more for him to do on the outside.

"Why do you sound tired doctor?"

"Don't mind this old man; I am only tired. Old age is catching up with me" answered the doctor with a tight-lipped smile.

"We can't give up when we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know that we would soon leave this place. Soon"

Dr. looked at Tony and how he was convincing himself. It was sad to know that even after almost ten years, no one has been able to trace their whereabouts. He could only imagine what their families went through all these years wondering where they were.

Thinking of his children, Dr. Henry could feel tears feeling his eyes. It was heartbreaking for him to live knowing that his family probably thinks that he was dead. The thought of his two daughters broke his heart the more.
