CHAPTER 48

The night of the event finally arrived, the company closed from work quickly so that the staffs could attend the event in time and no doubt they were all excited. Min Hye had wanted to avoid attending the event since she hated socialising but Dae Hyun told her to attend as his date and she couldn't refuse.

Dae Hyun dressed up in a luxurious black Boolralro branded suit, he combed his black silky hair neatly with a few strands coming down on his forehead. Finally, he put on his glasses before taking a small glass box and staring at it for a few seconds with a smile on his face before placing it into his pocket. He took his car keys and zoomed off in his black sport car.

Min Hye waited patiently in her house for Dae Hyun after she was dressed up for the event since he was supposed to pick her up. She had barely waited for thirty minutes when she heard the doorbell ring. She walked hurriedly to the door and opened it to reveal Dae Hyun looking as breathtaking as ever in an expensive fine suit and a charming smile plastered on his face.

Dae Hyun gaped at the gorgeous woman in front of him, she was dressed up in a beautiful magenta, long flowing gown with a slit at one side running from the thigh down, encrusted with tiny silver stones and the back of the dress was exposed. She let her hair down in beautiful waves, she had no make up on but her beauty radiated under the dim moonlight.

"You've left me speechless and it's never happened before." Dae Hyun said. He complimented her in a different way and she loved that he was different and he made her feel different but in a special way.

Cha Eun was supposed to pick Yoo Na up from her house to the event since she was his date. His chauffeur arrived at her house early and he knocked at the wooden door. A middle aged woman opened the door and a huge grin lit on her face when she saw the young man.

"Ahh you must be Cha Eun, right? My Yoo Na told us her friend was coming to pick her up. Please come in, she'll be ready soon." Mrs Oh said in an excited tone.

"Thank you." He bowed slightly and was about to enter the house when his eyes caught sight of Yoo Na and his mouth fell open at the sight of the beauty in front of him.

Mrs Oh turned back as she followed Cha Eun's eyesight wondering what had caught his attention and when she saw it was her daughter, her grin widened as she saw that her daughter had captured the eyes of a wealthy kid, an opportunity that would elevate them from poverty if they got married in the future.

"She's so beautiful isn't she? She takes after me." Her mother exclaimed as she laughed hysterically but Cha Eun wasn't listening as he didn't tear his gaze off Yoo Na. She was wearing a golden coloured, straight gown stopping below her thighs. It was embedded with black stones and she looked simply eye catching as the dress contrasted with her features beautifully. Her hair was tied in a bun and she had no makeup on which wasn't surprising since she wasn't in the mood for parties.

"Mom that's enough. We should go now Cha Eun." She said with a flat tone as she walked out of the house and Cha Eun followed as they both sat at the back seat of the car and the driver zoomed off to the event.

The silence in the car was awkward, Yoo Na hadn't noticed how handsome he looked with his expensive suit on, she didn't notice what anyone looked like or what they wore because she just didn't care. Cha Eun wanted to compliment her but her stoic expression made him refrain from doing so and they both sat in silence till they arrived at the event.

Dae Hyun and Min Hye finally arrived at the event to be greeted by the flashing of cameras as soon as they got out of the car. Dae Hyun felt angered by their action but he beamed a smile to the cameras instead as they went into the hall where the party was being held. No doubts foreign businessmen and women all scampered everywhere, conversing with the wealthy people in the South Korean business world.

Exotic artifacts, sculptures and arts were displayed as entertainment to the aristocrats, classical music were being played live in the hall by the best classical musicians, foreign luxurious foods and drinks were been served to the guests and so on.

Cha Eun caught sight of Dae Hyun seated on a table with Min Hye and went over to their table with Yoo Na who followed. Yoo Na felt like she had gone to a different world as every single thing and person had a touch of luxury but she didn't feel intimidated by their wealth, she felt alien to it.

"You're here already." Dae Hyun said as Cha Eun came to his sight along with Yoo Na.

"Yes."

"It's nice to see you again Yoo Na." Dae Hyun said with a pleased smile.

"Thank you for inviting me." She replied politely. They listened to the introduction Cha Eun's father gave regarding the company and as he announced the new stocks they brought out. After the CEO speech, the auction was announced and so on. Everything bored Dae Hyun to death and he watched till the auction was over, then the association of the business class continued as well as other class of wealth was concerned.

A staff went to meet Dae Hyun and they whispered indistinctly and Min Hye wondered what they were whispering about as well as the other two who watched in curiosity.

After a while Dae Hyun excused himself taking Min Hye's hands in his and pulling her along to follow behind him and she did without question but she was curious on where they were heading to even though she didn't say a word. A pair of angry eyes followed their movement as they left the hall and also followed behind them discreetly.

"Where are we going to?" She asked as they left the hall and entered the elevator as he pressed the 200th floor button which was the last floor.

"No questions." He said sternly but his eyes were soft as he stared into hers and she remained silent until they came out of the elevator and she followed him as he went up to the rooftop. Dae Hyun opened the door to the rooftop and her eyes widened in amazement when they stood on the rooftop.

The rooftop was decorated with beautiful strings of light and the floor was covered with red roses in a huge heart shape, a table for two was in the middle of the rooftop with wine placed on it and a bouquet of red roses on the side. Her eyes roamed about the beautifully decorated place and a smile beamed on her face knowing Dae Hyun had surprised her with a romantic act.

The view itself was perfect as the round moon shone down on them and she could see the building light up beautifully in the ground.

"I love it, it's pretty." She said with a huge grin on her face as she stared into Dae Hyun's eyes with emotions swirling in them, emotions only he made her feel.

"I'm glad you like it." He said with a grin as he planted his lips on hers, their lips colliding firmly into each other's as they drowned into a passionate kiss, his arms wrapped around her tiny waist and hers wrapped around his strong neck, digging her fingers into his lush thick air.

Dae Hyun pulled away from the kiss and stared at her for a second.

"I love you." He said with a husky deep voice, his eyes swirling with unspoken emotions, she could feel the sincerity in his words and she knew she loved him too. She didn't say anything but he knew what she felt just by looking at her eyes, she loved him too and she didn't need to say it.

"That's why I want to spend every second with you." He continued and with that, she watched him go down on one knee and her eyes widened slightly with a gasp as he dipped his hand into his pocket and brought out a small glass box. He opened it in front of her to reveal a medium sized beautiful diamond ring sitting inside the box and she gasped as her eyes widened more and her heart thumped hard in her chest. She had never thought that Dae Hyun would propose to her or that he even thought of getting married since he didn't live by the laws of humans and his mindset was completely different but she felt ecstatic that he was proposing to her and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

"Will you marry me?" He proposed and there was no doubt he loved her as he stared into her eyes with deep emotions pooling inside of it.

But does a psychopath truly love someone else apart from their narcissistic self?
