CHAPTER 47

Yoo Na was seated as usual in her seat, waiting for the day's class to start as she watched the students chatter happily in small groups with their friends. Memories of she and Bae Ra flooded in her head as she remembered how they used to have small talks about irrelevant things which excited them, the memories made her happy but sad as well as she knew she could never have that happiness back with her or anyone again.

She rested her head on the table as she shut the world out, she wanted a second of peace to herself before Jisoo or Da Yeon came to frustrate her again like every other day. She wondered which of the two's presence was even more annoying.

She was enjoying her silent peace when she felt something covering her ears and music resonated in her eardrums, she immediately realized it was a headphone and she looked up to see who had worn her the headphone. Her eyes met Cha Eun's who towered above her, he didn't say anything as he sat down behind her in his seat and she didn't say anything either as she listened to the music that was soothing.

She recognized the voice playing from the headphone, it was Jung Kook's. She and Bae Ra were both big fans of BTS boys and she used to be excited merely hearing them sing but now she was dead on the inside, nothing excited her anymore, not even Jung Kook's angelic voice but still, it was soothing and heartwarming but not exciting.

The students murmured in hushed tone at the drama unfolding before them, Cha Eun giving his headphone to the poor kid would have made it to the headline as everyone circulated rumours within minutes through out the whole school, the girls gave her a glowering look but Da Yeon gave her a murderous one.

Cha Eun watched her as she laid her head back on the table, listening to the music. He knew she was hurting and would hurt everyday, he knew it because he felt it too, the emptiness and pain his mother had left him with the day she died was still there, it still lingered heavily within him and even though she acted cold and strong on the outside, he knew just how soft hearted she was to feel that amount of pain she felt for her friend's death, something a lot of people would forget after some time but she didn't and she had even dedicated her life to get revenge for her friend which he thought was a heroic thing to do but he knew the last thing she wanted him to call her was a hero as she'd rather be the villain in her story to get her bloody revenge.

Class had started so Yoo Na took off the head phone as she prepared for class. The teacher was about to commence teaching when the door shut open to reveal In Ra walking into the class with raised chin and proud shoulders as she walked to her seat.

The students gasped at seeing In Ra, obviously because of the aftermath of her plastic surgery. Her face had become even more prettier and she looked like an Angel with the amount of work done on her face, making her look like a flawless beauty which was parallel to none. Her eyes were bigger, her nose were pinched to a small cute one, her cheeks were filled and her lips were made smaller along with other amazing works the plastic surgeon had done on her face.

In Ra shot a glare towards the direction of Yoo Na who returned it and she scoffed before averting her gaze to Cha Eun with a sweet smile, thinking she could charm him with her beauty but he wasn't in the least fazed by her fake beauty as he averted his gaze from her and looked out of the window, his actions made her almost sulk as she took her seat and everyone hovered around her welcoming her back from her supposed accident.

"You look so pretty, I'd like to get a nose job too." Da Yeon chirped happily during lunch time as she sat in a table with In Ra and Nam Joo in the cafeteria. "Your doctor's really amazing." Da Yeon praised as she and Nam Joo gasped at her beauty but In Ra wasn't listening to them as her gaze was fixated on Cha Eun seated with Jisoo and Yoo Na. She felt the burning anger itch her skin uncomfortably and she couldn't bare to watch them anymore as they chatted in between their lunch and she couldn't help but wonder what the trio was speaking so indistinctly about.

"Did you get the footage yet?" Yoo Na asked with her usual serious facial expression.

"It's not ready yet, it takes a lot of time to get the footages from the security company." Cha Eun explained.

"How long?" Yoo Na asked, clearly impatient to get her hands on them. She felt like she was on the verge of breakthrough with the clips as she strongly believed that she could get evidence from the footages if she looked harder.

"One footage takes about two weeks." He said and her brows creased, it would then take months to get all the footages of the area she sent them. She had sent him all the areas the victims of the anonymous killer was last seen, starting from five years ago.

"That's a long time..." Yoo Na complained.

"They're a security company so they have a lot of footages piled to check out." Cha Eun stated out, he was as impatient as she was but he couldn't force them to give him the footages as soon as possible so he had to wait.

"So what do we do instead as we wait?" Jisoo asked, she was having fun as they investigated which made her feel like a detective.

"I'll figure something out but for now, we'll hang on to the evidence we have." Yoo Na said and they all agreed to it. Yoo Na found it odd that the CCTV footages that was always placed at the lakeside to at least catch the culprit in the act of dumping the bodies by the lake side was always gotten rid of and that was going to be her next investigation to solve the mystery of who got rid of the cameras without anyone noticing it?

"Cha Eun! What are you doing?" Yoo Na heard In Ra's voice that didn't hide the disgust she felt for her in it.

"I'm eating." He replied logically.

"Why are you eating with them?" She asked with an irritated tone as she glared at both Jisoo and Yoo Na leaving Jisoo shudder in fear as she lowered her head.

"It's none of your business who I eat with." Cha Eun replied blatantly as he continued eating his food and her face twisted with heavy contempt.

"You shouldn't be seen around with paupers like them, it'll attract ugly rumours about you." She warned as she eyed the two paupers viciously.

"There's no rule that states the rich can't befriend the poor unless you treat them unequally, based on their background status." Cha Eun said, flustering In Ra with his words.

"It's normal to treat them that way because they aren't equals, so what's the big deal about it?" She asked rhetorically as she rolled her eyes, born as a privileged child, she had the mindset that the lower class people were beneath her and they were from different worlds.

"It's none of your business who I decide to befriend, so if you don't mind, I'd like to continue with my lunch." Cha Eun said as he started eating his food, not sparing her another glance and she scoffed in disbelief.

"If you don't mind, I'd like to sit with you guys since you're right, there's no big deal in being friends with them." In Ra said with a pretentious smile she forced on her face as she gestured for Jisoo to scoot over for her as she sat opposite Cha Eun and Yoo Na.

The silence between the four was intense, Jisoo was busy trembling in fear like a kitten drenched in the rain while In Ra glared continuously at Yoo Na and Cha Eun quietly ate his food.

"I guess the plastic surgery paid off." Yoo Na said, breaking the silence and In Ra's black eyes squinted at her in contempt along with Jisoo and Cha Eun who watched them.

"What?"

"You've finally accomplished your heart desire, I'm so happy for you." Yoo Na said with a sarcastic smirk on her face.

"What are you talking about?" In Ra asked with a devilish smile on her face.

"You've always hated that a poor kid was prettier than you but now that you've gotten the face you wanted you must be so ecstatic about it. Congratulations In Ra!" Yoo Na exclaimed excitedly and In Ra's face turned pale with embarrassment as the students attention were placed on them.
