Chapter 12 Fun in the amusement park

Natalia drove to the theme park chatting happily with Jonathan.

“And we will have the ice cream after that,” Jonathan exclaimed excitedly.

Natalia laughed, “Alright.”

They reached their destination in no time. As finding a parking space within the amusement park was difficult, Natalia parked her car on the side of the road a short distance away. They stepped out and crossed the road hand in hand.

After obtaining the tickets, they went for fun. They enjoyed the barrel train ride, then hopped in the bumper car. Afterward, they came for the whimsical ride.

Jonathan climbed on a zany creature that looked like cowfish. The grin on his face was a testament to how excited he was. His smile grew wider when the ride started moving.

“Mummy…” He yelled, waving at Natalia.

“Hold tight…” Natalia reminded him.

She didn’t forget to take his pictures. She smiled, looking at his joy. However, she didn’t notice that someone was monitoring them from afar.

After enjoying some more rides, Jonathan ran out of energy. He was hungry too. They grab some cakes and shakes with chocolate cookie toppings.

"Would you like to play some indoor games?" Even though Natalia knew Jonathan could no longer play, she still asked to make sure.

“No more games,” Jonathan denied it straight away. “Let’s go home.”

“As you wish…”

After finishing eating, they came out. A van stopped a little distance away from the park began moving toward them as they crossed the road. When they were in the middle of the road, Natalia noticed the vehicle approaching quickly.

Her pupils dilated in horror. Her heartbeat leaped into her throat.

"Jonathan..." she screamed, clutching him in her arms and turning away from the van.

She squeezed her eyes and held her breath as she waited for the car to hit her.

However, the anticipated pain did not occur. All she heard was a loud thud followed by a squeal of the wheels against the road.

It was quiet afterward for a couple of minutes. Natalia opened her eyes, pulsating quickly. She turned back frantically and saw Vincent, blocking the van with his hand.

Where did he come from?

This was the first question that popped into her head.

Natalia gaped at him. The shock was prominent in her countenance. Then her eyes moved towards the van. There was a massive dent on the hood, which further stunned her.

“Hey…” The van driver came out and shouted at him.

Vincent was yet to come to his normal state. His eyes were still glowing hazel. He was still fighting to calm Gaius, who was ready to come out and rip the driver apart. On top of that, the driver was yelling at him, which drove Gaius insane.

Vincent turned his head to him, shooting a murderous glare.

The driver’s blood chilled, looking at those glowing hazel eyes. He had never seen such ominous eyes before. The man in front of him appeared to be a demon from hell who wouldn’t hesitate to kill anybody. He pivoted and fled for his life.

It was not until this moment that Vincent could put Gaius under his control. His eyes slowly changed from hazel to black. He turned to the mother and son, only to meet their bewildered gaze.

He went up to them and grumbled, "Can't you be cautious crossing the road? You have a child with you.”

“I looked around before I crossed the road. There was no car…”

“Where is your car?” Vincent asked before she could finish her sentence.

Natalia initially planned to thank him for saving her and Jonathan, but his authoritative nature reminded her of someone nefarious.

“Why? Why are you asking for my car?” She fumed.

Vincent looked away from her, clenching and unclenching his jaws. He was angry too, looking at her hostile nature. He wondered if she had any emotions other than hatred.

His gaze moved to Jonathan as he asked, “Will you stay here in the middle of the road for another car to come and hit you?”

Jonathan shook his head frantically, watching him with his big eyes.

“Come with me.” Vincent held his hand and walked away.

“Hey, wait…” Natalia yelled, chasing him after. “Where are you taking him?”

Vincent kept walking without bothering her scream.

Natalia’s anxiety dissipated a bit when she saw him heading towards her car.

She rushed to them and opened her mouth to rebuke him, but before that, he extended his hand to her and said, "Key."

Natalia frowned at him. There was no way she would give him the car key. Who knew where he would take them?

She cocked her head and asked fiercely, “First, answer my questions. How do you know we are here? Are you stalking me?”

"I am in charge of protecting you, remember?” He stated, keeping the grave expression on his face.

Natalia was taken aback. She had forgotten all she had planned to say. All she did was gape at him.

"Key," he urged again, which brought her back to reality.

She took the key from her bag and gave it to him.

The next thing Vincent knew was getting behind the wheel. He adjusted the rearview mirror and watched the people in the back seat from time to time while driving.

While they were away, a plumber in his twenties arrived at the mansion. Margarette was a little surprised to see him. The plumber who used to come to work was a middle-aged man. It was the first time she saw the young man.

“You… we have called Mr. Tanner. Who are you?” Margarette gazed him up and down suspiciously.

The man bowed a bit and replied cordially, “Mr. Tanner is busy with some work. So, he sent me here. You can verify with him. My name is Trevor.”

Margarette peered at him for a while before she said, “Come with me.”

She took him to Natalia’s bathroom and showed him the water heater.

“It is not working. Fix it quickly.” She threw a doubtful gaze at him.

Trevor took his instruments out of his bag and started doing his job while Margarette phoned Mr. Tanner as she came out of the bathroom. Only after Mr. Tanner confirmed that Trevor had been assigned to work did she let out a sigh.

Trevor repaired the water heater in no time and left in a hurry, hiding a sneaky smile. He dialed a number as soon as he came out.

"It's done," he reported the second the call connected.

“Check your account,” A deep, raspy voice came out of the phone.

The call ended with that.

Trevor grinned widely as he saw a message from the bank stating that $1,000 had been credited to his account.
