Kurashi's First Mission

October 30, 2020...The base has begun to go back to it's normal ways. With Hikari now the leader of Naishotetsu, a new phase has come to. However, even with everyone going back to their normal way of life, a lingering sorrow still remained.

At the main office, Hikari was busy working on paperwork, the documents piled high on the corner of the desk. With a sudden knock on the door, his focused gaze rose from his work.

"Come in...", Hikari stated in a stern voice.

Kurashi walked into the office, his katana sheathed on his back.

"You asked for me?", Kurashi questioned in a sleepy voice, his hands tucked away in his pockets.

"Yeah...", Hikari said as he put his pen down, "There have been some issues coming from the Toyama prefecture. Multiple homicides...mass disappearances...drug distribution...it all seems to tie back to each other, and I assume that there is an organization running all of these jobs...I want you to look into it".

"Why me?", Kurashi asked with his expression still unchanged.

"I think that you're finally ready...", Hikari responded with a sense of reassurance, "Besides, this mission is a reconnaissance. Your only task is to find their hideout".

"And if I find the leader?", Kurashi questioned softly.

Hikari thought about it before saying, "I will leave that up to you".

Kurashi stood still in silence.

"You will leave when night falls. In the meantime rest up...and come back to the office before you head out.", Hikari stated as he picked his pen back up, "You're dismissed...".

Kurashi gently nodded his head and left the office, closing the door behind him.

After a few hours of down time, Kurashi walked back into the office, the sky now pitch black.

"What's up Kurashi...Just give me one minute, I'm almost done.", Hikari stated in a friendly tone, his pen flowing across the papers.

Kurashi stood quietly as Hikari finished his work.

"I'm finally done...That took a lot longer than I thought it would.", Hikari said in relief as his put his pen down.

"The mission...", Kurashi questioned quietly.

"Yeah...With the festival coming up, I believe they will use that to cover for themselves, so be on the lookout for anything shady.", Hikari stated in a serious tone", "And like I said before, your only objective is to find their hideout...That's all I had to say, you're free to go now".

Kurashi turned around and walked towards the door.

"One more thing...", Hikari stated suddenly, "Complete the mission by any means".

After Hikari finished talking, Kurashi then left the base. As he set off on his mission, he took a moment to gaze up at the full moon, his dark attire making him appear as a shadow moving through the night. When Kurashi arrived in the Toyama district, he let time pass until the festival had started. As the night progressed, Kurashi walked through the crowded streets, the air now filled with excitement and blurred voices. Costumes of all kinds turned the streets into a sea of vibrant colors. With his blade sheathed on his back, Kurashi maintained his focus, scanning the environment around him.

Amidst the commotion, a movement caught his eye. A little girl, her face pale and her nightgown distressed, ran into an alleyway followed by a group of guys. Without hesitation, Kurashi evaded from the crowd, following them into the dark alley.

Kurashi slowly walked through the narrow path, his gaze fixated on the sight before him. The men had cornered the girl, their intentions undeniable. The girl trembled on her knees, her voice unable to plead for any help.

"Where do you think you're going? You know...it's dangerous for a girl like you to go out at night alone.", a man stated as he stood above the little girl.

"Yeah, I think she needs some punishment. The boss never said anything about taking it into our own hands.", another man responded with an unsettling grin on his face as he approached the girl.

The men began to all laugh, their voices filled with malice. Though, one of the men sensed something was wrong. He slowly turned around, squinting his eyes into the darkness to see a lurking silhouette.

"Hey, I think there's someone-" the man began to say, but his words were abruptly silenced.

Kurashi moved with lethal precision, his blade slicing through the man's throat in a swift motion. The others turned around as they heard the body collapse to the ground, their eyes widened in horror at the sight of their comrade lying in a pool of blood. From the shadows, Kurashi's hooded figure gradually came into view, his blade dripping with blood as he held it in his right hand.

Before they could react, Kurashi dashed in at the remaining men, his movement a blur of motion. One by one, the men fell to his blade, leaving only one alive. Overtaken by panic, the man scampered away from the scene. As the man ran away, Kurashi slowly lifted his left hand. The escaping man now stood frozen in place, his movement suspended by an unseen force.

"My body...it won't move!", the man said to himself in fear.

Kurashi approached slowly, his footsteps echoing off of the cold pavement.

"Wh-who are you!", the man stated as he heard the footsteps getting closer.

"I am no one...", Kurashi said quietly behind the man.

With a swift motion, Kurashi's blade flashed through the air, severing the man's head from his body. Kurashi then swung his katana down, ridding the blood from its blade before sheathing it on his back. As he gazed over his shoulder, Kurashi saw the girl sitting on the ground, her eyes covered by her small hands.
