different look

Time passed quickly, and it was already dawn of a new day.

Three people walked out of the cemetery: two taking the lead while the last one followed behind, looking like a moving corpse due to his zombie-like appearance.

This group was none other than Arthur and Elena, followed by Rein, who for some reason was now alive, or more accurately, living dead.

Arthur had spent the night trying to understand what his ability truly was.

According to Elena, everyone who awakens gets a status panel to help understand their ability and track progress.

The transparent panel seen by each individual user had information about the ability, its growth level, user race, MC points, and a few other details relating to the ability.

But for Arthur, his panel was different from what was said. He had a panel, alright, but it was entirely different.

His panel only showed a few pieces of information: his race, energy point tab, and essence point tab, nothing more.

No ability name, no experience tab to track his growth and ability progression, no MC point tab, and no ability information.

His panel only displayed:

User: Arthur Relzar

Race: Mortal Decay

Death Energy: 100/100

Death Essence: 100

This left him confused as to why his panel was different. Not to mention, his panel was deep black with blood-like words, creating an ominous vibe.

He had tried many things during the night to see if he could increase his power, but he couldn't, unlike others who gained experience and grew stronger over time.

First, there was no experience tab to track and increase his experience or comprehension of his ability.

Secondly, there was no information about his ability. He could only make wide guesses based on the type of energy and essence he possessed.

Putting all the pieces together, he concluded that he had a necromancy-type ability, thanks to Elena's vast knowledge on abilities.

According to her, necromancy abilities were considered unique class abilities, along with a few other abilities.

A kind of grading system had recently been created, dividing abilities into five classes: attack, defense, support, special, and unique.

Attack class abilities were focused on attack-based abilities, defense class abilities on defense, support class abilities were not proficient in attack or defense but could support in battle, special class abilities exhibited hybrid characteristics, and unique class abilities possessed logic-defying abilities.

Necromancy was one of the unique class abilities, and true to her word, when he explored this path, it worked. The result was the zombified Rein trailing behind him.

However, there was something special about his zombified Rein. Unlike other necromancer creations, Rein seemed agile, self-sustaining, and didn't exhibit the typical grumbling and growling of a zombie.

Rein still seemed like his old self, just with a zombified appearance. However, he didn't talk, much like other necromancer zombies.

As they walked out of the cemetery, a hovering limo was already waiting for them outside.

Arthur was shocked by this sight, but he didn't let it show on his face. He marveled at the level of technological advancement achieved in just a hundred years.

A century ago, the world hadn't even been able to create a completely silent engine, and now, there was a soundless hovering car right in front of him. This made him contemplate what other advancements might have occurred during his absence.

Immediately, the Butler of Elena Aerendil's house noticed the young miss coming out of the cemetery.

He hurriedly stepped out of the car to open the door for her to get in.

That was when his eyes landed on Arthur and his poker expression. As if that wasn't enough, a zombie was trailing behind him. The butler raised his brow upon seeing this but Elena's words stopped him from taking any action against the two.

He had thought the young miss was under some sort of hostage situation, as he didn't expect her to know someone in this rundown district.

"He is with me. He is a guest of the Aerendil house. Make adequate preparations for himself before we get back. He would be staying with us for a long time."

The Butler thought his hearing was bad; the young miss of the Aerendil house had a guest. It seemed like the sun must be rising from the north this time.

The Butler wasn't the only person in confusion at the moment. Back at the Aerendil household, the Butler's call had just come in to inform them in preparation for Arthur's arrival.

Much to his surprise, those back at home were utterly shocked too.

Everyone knows this young miss's personality; she barely has anyone around her as a friend due to her cunning and reserved nature.

Not to mention her cruel ways of dealing with things and bending people's will to her way.

Her ability even makes it worse, as everyone knows she wouldn't really have a true friend other than people she intends to use.

But from the way the Butler explained it, this seems to be different and hence the reason for the drama.

It didn't take long for the limo to pull into the Aerendil complex.

A mansion built in the best futuristic style that blends with nature. It's more like a modern fashion painted over natural beauty.

The whole place is like a huge well-kept reserve park, with buildings that look like they were built at the heart of a garden.

Each walk path is carefully placed and constructed with trees and flowers on both sides.

Water springs at different strategic spots and many other natural elements give this complex its grandeur.

Immediately the car pulled in, many of the maids and guards around scurried away as fast as they could, looking for something to do to get them away from the presence of Elena.

An action that didn't escape Arthur's sight, but he didn't bother as Elena didn't show any reaction, even though it was pretty obvious everyone is dashing off at her arrival.

"Welcome to the Aerendil complex, Arthur. Do feel at home. Luke will settle you in for now. Once you are rested a bit, we can pick up from where we left off," Elena said warmly, shocking the maids and guards who were trying to escape her presence.

Luke wore an apathetic face. He had seen his young miss acting strangely towards this stranger all the way from sector X down to the Aerendil complex.

The usually Lady of Misfortune was in her best character with a stranger. How is that possible? She hadn't used her ability to make him fool himself or forced him to her will.

That is a first, if only he knew her mind at the moment.

Just then, a shattering sound came from the side, cutting off his thought.

When he turned, it was one of the maids; she had mistakenly shattered one of the expensive vases used for decor.

Turning towards Elena, he could see her satisfied grin. It was one a person would have when they finally got something they had been dying for.

He couldn't help but feel his young miss is back to her usual self.

Incidents like this, and even worse, are a normal phenomenon around here anytime Elena is around, so he didn't bother scolding the maid or anything.

As for Elena, she felt relieved after seeing this. Internally, she had been secretly pressing down a stinging thought that wanted to make her run crazy.

For some unknown reason, she hadn't been able to use her ability on Arthur from the moment she met him.

Confirming her ability still works perfectly is a relief for her; it just seems not to be working on him.

So she thought as she was about to take her leave, believing Luke to settle Arthur in.

That's when an arrogant voice came in from another end, stopping Elena in her tracks, as well as Luke, who was leading Arthur to his room.

"Why the hell is there a stranger in the Aerendil complex, and a human one at that?" The owner of the voice is a young man about 19-20 years of age.
