Chapter 4 : The Battle Against the Destroyer

It was then that the Destroyer redirected its attention towards Jane. With heavy and imposing steps, it swept aside the police and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents with a wave of its hand. The Asgardian warriors, powerless against it, were thrown far away into the surrounding buildings. Finally, standing as the last barrier against the inhuman colossus, Thor attempted to appeal to his brother's humanity.

"Brother, whatever I have done to lead you to do this, I am deeply sorry," he began in a barely audible voice. "I have made far too many mistakes. But taking the lives of these innocent people will gain you nothing, so take mine and let's end this."

The Destroyer, seemingly touched by Thor's words, stopped and extinguished its flames. It turned around, ready to leave, but I knew it was a ruse. With a swift movement, the Destroyer struck Thor violently, sending him flying several meters.

Jane, shocked, rushed towards Thor, helplessly witnessing what appeared to be his final moments. Knowing that everything was unfolding according to the film and already hearing Mjölnir approaching, I decided to block the Destroyer's retreat. Wanting to test my new abilities, it was the ideal target for me to train safely. Thor would soon annihilate it, so it might as well be useful to me for a bit.

As silence enveloped the scene, Jane's sobs echoed through the small town, and the other spectators, caught in a maelstrom of terror and confusion, remained frozen. I took a deep breath, gathering all the concentration I could muster. It was time to prove what I could do, not just for them, but for myself.

I had seen heroes in movies and books face moments of crisis with courage and determination, and now it was my turn. The air around me began to shiver, the temperature dropping rapidly, turning the moisture into fine particles of frost.

I stood up, drawing from the icy depths of my being. With Jack Frost's staff in my right hand, I felt ready. I pointed the staff towards the Destroyer, unleashing a concentrated arctic blizzard directly at it. The snowstorm I had summoned was so intense that it began to freeze the circuits and joints of the Destroyer, slowing its movements.

The Destroyer struggled against the cold, its flames trying in vain to melt the ice accumulating on its metallic body. Every step it took against the blizzard brought it dangerously close to Jane and the injured Thor.

I created an ice barrier between the Destroyer and them, a thick and solid wall. It struck the barrier with fury, but for the first time, it was truly halted.

With a determined shout, I pointed the staff towards the ground, and a wave of ice burst forth, spreading rapidly towards the war machine. The ground under the Destroyer instantly froze, making its movements slow and laborious.

The fight was far from easy. The Destroyer, a formidable opponent, shattered the ice with disconcerting ease. I had to be agile, using my power to create ice shields and frosty mirages to deflect its attacks.

I created ice spears, launching them with precision. Some found their mark, embedding themselves in the interstices of the Destroyer, while others were simply vaporized by its infernal heat.

Thor, slowly getting up, watched the scene, gathering his last strengths. Jane, by his side, offered silent support, her face marked by worry and hope.

As I began to feel the limits of my endurance, the Destroyer repeatedly struck against the ice barrier, a powerful thunderous noise sounded in the sky. Mjölnir, responding to the legitimate call of its master, cut through the air with unmatched speed and precision. I felt a surge of adrenaline, knowing that the decisive moment was near.

The hammer struck the Destroyer with the force of thousands of thunderstorms, a resounding blow that shook the ground and sent shards of metal flying. Thor, regaining his powers, stood up, his aura of the thunder god brighter than ever. He was no longer the beaten man from moments ago; he was once again the mighty Thor of Asgard, the protector of Midgard, the god of Thunder.

With renewed assurance, Thor advanced towards the Destroyer. Every step was measured, every movement filled with the power of storms and heavens. "For Asgard," he thundered, and with those words, he lunged at the Destroyer. The ensuing battle was short but intense. Thor, reinvigorated by the return of his powers, fought with the fury of a storm. Every hit of Mjölnir was a thunderclap, every lightning bolt a sign of his regained power. He struck once more, a devastating blow that sent the war machine collapsing into a heap of burnt and twisted metal.

The silence that followed was a mix of relief and disbelief. The townspeople, though still shocked, began to emerge from their hiding spots

, all eyes turned towards Thor, the hero of the hour. But in his gaze, I could see gratitude and recognition towards me. He knew that without the intervention of Jack Frost, things could have ended very differently.

I collapsed, exhausted but satisfied, knowing that I had played my role in saving these lives. Thor approached, offering a respectful nod. "Thank you, Jack Frost. Your help will not be forgotten."

As Thor and the others celebrated, I turned and walked away, Jack Frost's staff firmly in hand. I knew that I had made a minor difference in the original scenario, but despite this, I had saved lives lost in that same story. Not only had I helped save the town, but I had also earned the respect of a God. This was the confirmation I was looking for: in this world of heroes and gods, there was also a place for Jack Frost.
