Affirmation

The neighborhood was quiet as we turned in, and I could see a few people were taking some late walks in the cool night air. The car began to slow down as we turned down a corner and I looked up to see Stella smiling at Luc and me in the back.

"The house is further up this road." They spoke softly and I slowly sat up as Luc nodded, releasing his hold on me. "What would you like us to do?"

"Stay in the neighborhood. If you can find somewhere to wait without arousing suspicion, then do so." Luc ordered and my heart fluttered slightly at hearing how confident he was in giving orders. It reminded me of how he had commanded Stella when we rescued the vampire, and a small smile crept onto my face. "I'll text you when we're ready to leave."
