Cain watched the frenzy unfold, noting the intense competition among the bidders, but he had already lost all interest in the bid. The Aegis of Eternity was good, but not worth more than six thousand spirit coins. Some people were bidding because they could not afford to lose and did not care about the money.
Finally, with a decisive nod, a wealthy merchant from one of the prominent families secured the armor with a final bid that left those in the regular seats buzzing with admiration.
