The pain from those horrible wounds still caused paralyzing agony in the Lich, now fully revealed in his skeletal form. If he had an average Mage's body, he would have failed to even move, but thanks to his undead constitution, he could amass a small amount of his energy and summon a storm of necrotic energy.
