Chapter 4 - Mana Circuit

When John opened his eyes, he looked at the little game he had created and saw which of the options the straight stick had fallen into.

It had fallen into the brain option, so he started to prepare himself to imprint the Mana Circuit into his brain.

To help you understand what a Mana Circuit is, think of it like a processor. Imagine you have a big pile of math problems to solve. The processor is like a super-fast and smart calculator that can handle these problems one after another very quickly.

The Mana Circuit works in a similar way; it not only helps you control your mana with ease but also assists you in casting spells that you've learned.

And what is a spell?

A spell is a magical formula, incantation, or ritual used to invoke supernatural forces and produce a specific effect or outcome. It requires the use of magical energy and often follows a structured set of words, gestures, or ingredients to manifest its power.

Like processors, Mana Circuits also have 'levels,' which make it possible to cast spells more efficiently and quickly.

Additionally, if you have a Mana Circuit, you can instantly cast a spell that is below the level of the Mana Circuit. For example, if you have a level 3 Mana Circuit, it would be possible to instantly cast basic spells that are below level 3.

John was now sitting on the ground with his legs crossed and eyes closed, his breathing was very calm and gentle as he entered a special meditation state.

What John was doing now was a process needed for the creation of his mana circuit. After entering a special state of meditation, he would need to gather all of his mana in one place and utilize it to form a Mana Circuit in his brain. Although it appears to be something easy to do, even a little mistake could lead him to death, as he would be constructing it inside his brain.

As time went by, he started to slowly move his gathered mana into his brain, following a certain path as he began to construct his circuit. Droplets of sweat started forming on his forehead and flowing to the tip of his nose as he approached the most critical part of the circuit construction.

Luckily, he didn't make any mistakes and finally completed the construction of his level 1 Mana Circuit. But it was not the end of it; before he could feel relieved, the mana from his surroundings started to rapidly gather in his forehead, forming a whirlpool.

John lay down on the ground as an overwhelming pain started to take over his head, making it impossible for him to even move a finger.

"Fuck! I did everything right and completed my circuit, so why is this happening!?"

Together with the pain, a burning sensation began to take place in the center of his forehead. In that spot, where the mana was gathering, a circular emerald gem started to form and grow as it absorbed all the mana that was gathering in his forehead.

After a few seconds, the mana from the surroundings stopped flowing into the emerald gem in his forehead.

"Fuck... I thought this would be the end of my journey before it even started!"

As the pain faded away, he slowly gained control of his body. After resting for a couple of seconds, he got up and started to inspect his body, trying to find any changes that may have occurred after constructing his mana circuit.

When he got up, he noticed that his thought process was much clearer and faster than before. He could now even remember everything he had ever experienced, as if he gained a photographic memory.

This was a good thing because he could now recall all the contents of the magic book he had bought without needing to put too much effort into it.

Apart from the upgrade of his thought process, he also found out that the ground beneath his feet somehow gave him a feeling of closeness that he didn't feel before.

"Strange, why do I have a sentiment of proximity with the ground? Did the circuit give me some special ability?"

"It would be good if I could have something like a game panel to check all of my changes... maybe there's something in the book that could help me. Luckily, I'm now able to remember every bit of it."

John rapidly went through the book's contents in his mind and found a way that could make it possible not only to see his changes but also some small details of materials and items.

It was a level 0 spell that could access the Akashic records and show its contents to the mage who cast it. As it was only a level 0 spell, it couldn't give him a detailed description, but it could at least give him an overview of his situation and help with his survival.

The name of the level 0 spell was [Mind's Archive], and even a person without a mana circuit could cast it. It was not something difficult for him to do, as he was now a mage from the first circuit.

John casted the level 0 spell [Mind's Archive] on himself, and a hologram-like panel with some details appeared before him.
