The Diamond In The Rough✔

||Book 1 of the Diamond Series|| The world had fallen into chaos a long time ago. Creatures came and enslaved the human race: Vampires, Lycans/Werewolves and Demons. They took and slaughtered thousands of innocent people. Men, Women and Children. After suffering for ten years, another set of beings came. They had enormous wings and a shining silver rings floating above their heads. Rings that could be used as a weapon if necessary. These creatures were called 'Angels'. They were kind and honestly the opposite of every supernatural creature that existed in that era. They built their kingdom protecting as many humans as they could but the dark creatures had other things planed. There was a war that broke out. Every man for themselves or more specifically, every creature for themselves. The war went on for almost 500 years. Then there was a woman. She wasn't an Angel or Vampire or Lycan or Demon. Turns out she was a hybrid of all four. More powerful than anything. No one knows for sure how this hybrid was made and at some point, no one cared. Her name was Elaka. She was seen as a priestess. Elaka was the savior of all humans. She created a boarder and the world was divided in two: The Land of Light; was so peaceful that it had to be shielded from the world. Elaka had put a protective hidden wall around the kingdom so no one would come in unless brought in by the citizens. There were humans that lived there and their lives were a paradise. And total peace. And there was the Dark land. Where every other creature lived. The three major kingdoms tolerated each other for as long as they could. Years passed without war. Until Elaka suddenly vanished. Without her, the world would become chaotic again. The crystal was lost in the forest. So many have searched for it but never succeeded. Even if they ever found it, the legend says it was set in stone. It was glued to a tree and only 'The Diamond in The Rough' could pull it out. That person was never found.

CHAPTER 82:

If I say I'm not nervous I would be lying.

We had gotten intel 5 days ago that the attack was happening today!

No matter how ready we were or how I thought we were; it still wasn't enough.

Everyone has been in a serious mood since we heard the news and not knowing what to expect.

We've all been on edge.

It got so bad that Cyrus had to get the vampire army down here to prepare for war.

They were a whole lot of them that arrived that day.

Alex wanted to come as well but Cyrus didn't want to leave the kingdom in the hands of Xander.

Training has become more and more intense and almost too much for us to handle but we needed to be in shape if we wanted to have any chance of winning.

Everything I've done.

All this time; learning, training…recovering.

All of it was to prepare me for this moment.

I stood looking at myself in the mirror.

It wasn't even the crack of dawn.

We needed to move early if we wanted intercept them before they move too deep into Blacklake.

"Lyra? there's something you need before going off" Darya spoke through an open gate.

From the back, she was surrounded by plants and different forms of nature, so she was at mothers' garden.

Without saying another word, I crossed over.

To my surprise, everyone was there.

The King, Queen, Cyrus; everyone.

"what's going on?" I asked nervously looking around like I had done something bad or was in trouble.

"well we decided this whole thing started with your mother but going to end with you. So, it's only proper we give you…this" Darya unwrapped something in her arms that I hadn't noticed on time.

I couldn't tell what it was until it was completely open.

It was a sword.

One of the most beautiful I had ever seen.

It wasn't totally straight and it had a strange design to it.

I was drawn to it.

There was a connection between me and it.

As soon as my fingers came in contact with it, I could feel something pass through me.

"the sword was forged by the Phantom Ravens. Just for you. Its's magical properties make it one of a kind. Easy enough to wrap around you yet when held by the handle, it becomes firm" I grabbed the sword and placed it on my upper arm and watched it wrap around me with ease.

This was amazing.

When I held it by the handle, it became firm and straight again like it was unbendable.

"and one more thing" she walked me over to the tree.

There was one thing in particular that stood out.

It was on the highest branch.

I wasn't sure of what it was until it bent toward me.

It had the shape of a pear but looked like a crystal.

"what is this?" I asked looking utterly confused.

It's not every day you come across something like this.

"think of it as a power boost. You'll need it when you're out there; Eri-" she called her over.

After using magic to slice it open there was golden liquid inside of it.

The substance didn't look edible at all but when the time comes, I might probably need it.

Eri packed it up in different potion bottles and did away with them.

"are you ready?" Eri smiled as we stood up together.

I looked around to see everyone with smiles on their faces.

"with you all by my side…I can do anything" I smiled and we all moved outside to ready our armies.

There were more than just humans that were on the battle field; witches, Hybrids, werewolves, Birds of Prey and species I had never seen.

All willing to fight for their home and what they believed.

I had never seen this many people all gathered in one place.

Brave men and woman willing to sacrifice their lives to protect the peace that my mother fought to bring.

They knew the risks but are still willing to go along with it.

We don't know who will come back and who won't.

I stood before them all just as we were about leaving.

"I have never been prouder to see this. To see people put aside their differences and come together as one unit to face a common enemy. An enemy that threatens our future with a brighter tomorrow. It must have been difficult for some of you to leave your family and friends to come here. But this is a risk even I'm willing to take. What lies ahead is uncertain. No one knows how it's going to end. I cannot guarantee everyone's safety. But I swear by those before me. WE WILL NOT FALL; NOT TODAY AND NOT EVER!!! WHO'S WITH ME?!" I rose my arm shouting at the end.

"I AM" the whole crowd roared as I mounted my horse and led them into the woods and towards Blacklake.

"that was some speech" Tamar came up to me.

I could see the nervousness written all over him.

"thank you. Listen I know you're terrified but-"

"I'm not scared of dying; I'm scared of losing the one I love before our lives even begins. If I die instead of her I wouldn't mind it. As long as she lives on. I honestly fear for her-"

"hey; Imogen is a strong fighter and one of the best. Don't worry about such; we'll all make it out unscathed" I forced a tight smile.

We both knew I was lying but it's just to comfort us before the battle.

Tamar never really showed it but he was really sensitive and protective of Imogen.

"don't you have that fear for anyone? Losing any person in particular?" I let the question ponder for a while before speaking.

"of course, I am. If I'm being honest, I hope to wake up and discover this was all a nightmare. I never knew my mother and the nearest person I had to that died in my arms. I don't want to lose anyone again but I can't exactly protect everyone. I can't pull them under my wing. I just hope I would have the strength to endure all of it when the time comes"

This war was the last thing I wanted.

There were too many lives hanging in the balance.

Yes, some volunteered to be here and they truly are brave.

But knowing that this might be the last time I would see some of these faces.

It's not a thought I would like to ponder on for too long.

"guess we're both worried about the outcome" he said nervously.

"everyone is" I turned to look around my army.

They barely spoke and even if they did, it was in whispers.

Not a single smile was in sight.

I don't blame them though I'm just as scared as they are.

"we can only hope for the best"

The rest of the ride was silent as everyone fed on their thoughts.

Sometimes I would move to talk to someone; at times they would come to me.

We all sought comfort one way or another.

After hours on end, we finally reached the boarders.

This was it.

The hidden passage way that connected Noie and Blacklake lead us straight to the boarders dividing the two lands.

There was a river that properly divided the lands and we weren't too far from it.

Fighting them in conditions such as this would make it more challenging and draining.

Javan had also evacuated the people living here so they won't get hurt by the cross fire.

With that in mind, I used magic to dry up the lake temporarily.

We all waited in silence.

Everyone got down from their horses and into their positions just as instructed before we left the palace.

The amount of silence we've experienced today is frightening.

Though it was inevitable, it was still too much for me to handle at some point.

Then on the horizon we could see an army march forward; leading them was Lucifer.

Hellen was nowhere to be seen.

Their party came a bit closer before stopping and we stared at each other for a while.

They didn't look like they were ready to turn back but neither was I.

"CHARGE!!!" He yelled and so it begun.

Both sides ran towards their opponents and clashed in the middle.
