The Hunt (3)

When we found each other, he had a dead hero down by his feet. And as he pulled his katana out of his victim, his eyes found mine threw my mask. We had an intense standoff until I moved first.

I drew my pistol and fired a shot at the Hero Killer which he blocked with his katana. I fired a few more times, but he dodged or blocked them with his blade. I cursed as I ran out of ammo and was forced to draw my knife to stop his attack when he got in too close. I grunted under the pressure that the Hero Killer gave off with his blade.

As I slowly slid back under his pressure, I thought about all the plans I had made. Then I remembered, no plan survives first contact. It was then I employed the ultimate attack plan. Kick to the nuts! After all, all's fair in love and war.

Unfortunately, my plan of attack did not work. As soon as I brought my leg up, the Hero killer quickly blocked it with his leg. But in order to do that, he gave up trying to pressure me with his sword. I took the chance he gave me and gave him a left hook. With him slightly stunned from the hit, I grabbed his wrist with the katana and twisted. As I twisted his hand, he pulled a dagger with his other hand and sent a cut to my side. I used my free hand to grab the blade, though the blade did cut my fingers a bit, my gloves stopped most of it.

Thinking on my feet, I dropped to my knees while yanking him down. The Hero killer saw what would happen and pulled his hand with the katana back while abandoning his dagger. As he jumped back away from me, I quickly stood, duel-wielding the dagger and my knife.

.

"You're no hero..." He spat at me as he took a stance.

"Trust me, I've been on both sides," I replied. "Neither one is worth it."

"A mercenary or a bounty hunter then?" He asked with a bit of skepticism. "Do I have a bounty on me or something?"

"Yep," I said as I twirled my knife twice. "And I was asked by the HPSC to bring you in."

"Those hypocrites, do you know how much blood is on their hands?" He asked as he charged at me.

"I know all about it," I told him as I charged him as well. "I know all about the blood, the backdoor deals, and the child soldiers."

.

As we closed in on one another, he went in for an overhead slash. I used the dagger to parry the slash while I stabbed forward with my knife. My knife missed its mark as he twisted out of the way before slashing at me again, this time with an upwards swing. I wasn't going to dodge it fast enough so I turned and let my chest plate take the brunt of the attack. The tip of the Hero Killer's katana dug a deep trench as it traveled up diagonally. With the opening that his attack left for me, I lunged forward and tackled him to the ground, both of us dropping our weapons.

Once I was on top of the Hero Killer, I began to rain down punch after punch. The Hero Killer put his arms up and tried his best to block as many as he could. But it was too much as I began to hit harder and harder, unleashing my full strength I kept on a close leash, lest I accidentally kill someone. Finally, after one hard hit, I felt his forearm break before my other fist pushed past his broken guard and nail him right in the face.

The Hero Killer's nose broke under the force of my punch and rocked his brain in his head. As I let my guard down for a brief second to catch my breath, the Hero Killer's eyes shot wide open and he landed a damn good hook that knocked me off of him and sent my helmet tumbling off of my head.

As we both stood, I shook my head as he spit blood out of his mouth.

.

"Nice shot," I complimented him as I took a boxer's stance.

"Stain," He spoke which confused me. "My name is Stain." He explained as he turned sideways.

"Six," I replied as I got ready for him.

.

We both stood there, staring at each other. Waiting for the other to move first. As I slowly moved my foot forward, a knife was thrown my way extremely fast. I ducked to the side as the knife sailed past my head. I glance at the knife before looking back toward Stain. I found him already close to me in the position to dish out a spinning flying kick. I brought my arm and shoulder forward to block the kick. Stain used it to back away when it landed while throwing more knives at me. I dipped, ducked, and dodged as I advanced.

When I got close, Stain whipped his broken arm at me as his hand clutched a knife. Knowing that I couldn't block it with one hand, both of my hands blocked the attack. But that was what he was waiting for. His free arm snaked towards me faster than I could react, around my shoulders and I suddenly found myself on the ground. His broken arm and knife already heading towards my head in an attempt to kill me.

I rolled out of the way and continued to roll while thinking of a way to end this fight. Then it hit me. I rolled up to a kneeling position while quickly entering into my [Pip-boy]. I could hear Stain's boots rushing towards me as I found what I was looking for. As he came upon me, I threw a [Flash bang] up and behind me. The grenade went off with a deafening bang that disoriented me and made my ears ring loudly.

Looking back, I could see Stain rolling around screaming. Screaming what I couldn't hear. My ears were ringing too badly to hear anything. So without much fanfare, I pulled a pair of handcuffs out of my [Pip-boy] and walked over to Stain. After I handcuffed him and knocked him out, I stripped him of all his weapons which included more knives, throwing stars, piano wire, and several hidden folding knives. Once Stain was secured, I walked over to retrieve my gun and knife.

Just as I sighed in relief, an explosion went off nearby. I sighed in defeat as I walked back over to Stain and reloaded my revolver. I couldn't leave him here and like hell I was just gonna execute him. The HPSC wanted to prove something with his capture. Something was going on behind the scenes and I got involved when I accepted this mission from them. Soon another explosion went off and I was forced to make a decision.

.

I stood in shock at what I was seeing. Fire was everywhere, cars were upturned, and people screaming while running in all directions. I was stunned at the sight but quickly composed myself when I saw what was the cause of this chaos. Four modified humans, otherwise known as Nomus, were wreaking Hosu.

Seeing how all four were different, I decided to test my luck with the closest one. The Nomu was winged and had pale skin. Its main avenue of attack was grabbing things and throwing them all over the place.

Taking out my [.357 Magnum revolver], I aimed and fired three shots to see if these were like the one at USJ. The creature heard the shots and swung around to see what the noise was. As it did, all three shots hit center mass, its torso, and the Nomu screamed in pain. Seeing as normal bullets actually hurt it, I fired the last three shots into the Nomu's head. Killing it swiftly. But what shocked me was that it took the first one to the head just fine, the other two finished it off.

Seeing as .357 wasn't doing enough damage, I opted for something a little more powerful. I rushed to the next Nomu after switching out my magnum. As I came up upon the second one, I found Endeavor fighting with it. This Nomu being one with four arms and is flame resistant. When Endeavor took two hooks to the face and was sent flying, I took center stage by placing myself in front of the Nomu.

The Nomu and I had a little standoff before I drew first blood. With a quick draw, I drew my [.44 Magnum revolver] and fired a shot off. The Nomu took the shot to its chest but staggered backward a few steps. The Nomu roared in anger before slamming all four of its arms down onto the ground and charging me. Waiting until the last second to roll out of the way, I fired four shots into its knees and the last round went into its head killing it.

As I turned around and reloaded, I was blindsided by a sucker punch. As I was sent tumbling, I heard someone shout to capture him, meaning me. I could tell from the voice that it was Endeavor that sucker-punched me. I was furious. As I stood up,44 Magnum in hand, I shot Endeavor in the leg. With him screaming, I walked away.

With him incapacitated for the moment, I turned back to the remaining two Nomus. One shooting blasts of water while ripping giant hunks of stone and throwing them. While the other one had multiple eyes taking on a couple of heroes with tentacles. I sighed, I just wanted this to be over so I could go and drink. Hopefully getting drunk for once. I just activated [VATS] and aimed for the head. After two lightning-quick shots, they both fell to the ground dead with holes in their heads. Once they dropped to the ground, I reloaded and holstered my magnum.

Walking away from all the carnage, I made my way back to Endeavor. My helmet's eyes glowed in the fire as I stomped toward him. He was shouting for someone to arrest me as I drew close. Those that tried were stopped by those who saw me take out the Nomus with extreme prejudice. Soon a stand-off was happening between those who were on my side and those who were siding with a bleeding Endeavor.

.

We stood there, staring at each other with hate filling the cavity between us. The tension was palpable as the sidekicks and heroes became restless. The civilians that didn't evacuate were watching as Endeavor and I had our stare-down. Finally, Endeavor couldn't take it anymore and reeled his fist back to launch an attack. I just drew and put a round between his legs as he was still on the ground.

After nearly getting his dick blown off, he hesitated enough to pause his attack. I just leveled my .44 at his head, my intention clear as day. Even though my helmet blocked my eyes, Endeavor could see the absolute hatred in them. He knew one wrong move would get him killed.

Finally, having done enough to keep him in line, I holstered my weapon and walked away. In the eyes of the crowd, I was a person who had just saved the day and stood up to Endeavor. To Endeavor, I was a demon that nearly just killed him. Either way, my job was done as I went to go collect Stain where I left him.
