The Chilling Adventures of Set

A man wakes up in the slums of The Hidden Leaf Village. He had nothing to his name except a mysterious and the power of Absolute Ice Maker. The multiverse is in for a freezing revelation. This is a pretty chill fic, nothing dramatic or anything of the sorts. No amazing plot twists, just a fun little read where we might encounter some questions about life, love and learning. It's fanfic still, so expect what you know to expect, but there will be mostly a fun time. NO harem collector, or God-level power spike that then turns into a worldwide slaughter. Just a cosy little read. A/N: I do not own anything except my own created character. Go and support the original work before you read this fanfiction. Remember to be kind to each other and to take care of yourselves. There is a tomorrow.

Chapter 4: Class of Three

As expected (because Hiruzen said so) the apartment wasn't much. A small kitchen, a toilet and a bedroom. No real living space so I had to eat my meals on the floor or on the stove. Still, I currently live here for free so I won't complain. No sir!

I had six years of student life to draw from so I am well-versed in the art of, "living but not actually living".

Let's rehash what I know now after a week in this surreal situation. I am a soon-to-be God. Yes, the big G and all. I control the element of ice. I only need to practice how to effectively utilize it in battle, the control of it is completely natural. I know a ton of martial arts. Yup, not even kidding there.

For some reason, every time I wake up, I gain new memories of various martial styles. It started on the third day. I woke up and started the day like any other until I noticed how strong I felt, and how balanced I felt. The way I walked, the posture when I sat down. Most things about my physical prowess have changed immensely.

My best theory so far is that I am drawing on the experiences of previous Gods. Sort of like slowly digesting what they all learned during their lifetime. And let me tell you, it is a LOT. In just a week I have grown ridiculously powerful. Not Hiruzen God-of-Shinobi powerful, but more than one should grow in just a WEEK.

I can lift a tree... so that's a thing. Not a super-duper large tree, but name another normal human who can casually pick up and swing around even a smaller tree. And that is not even the weirdest thing.

I am a competent martial artist now. My body is remembering movements, sort of like muscle memory when you're gaming. It's exactly like that actually. It's programmed into me. My body moves without me understanding it or perceiving it. I could probably dodge a bullet without even realizing it. Oh, and I am fast. Speeding bullet fast which I found out is actually average in this world. A freaking bullet is not anything special here.

So that has been my week. Now it's time for food. FOOD! Why am I constantly hungry? I don't have much of a budget. If my body could just go ahead and calm down a little that would be great.

BOOM

"And that makes twenty-three." Not at all ridiculous. Over twenty trees completely ruined from me simply punching them. Granted I am throwing the hardest punches I can, but still, just my fist and it barely takes me five hits to destroy a tree.

You got nothing on me, Madara!

Of course, somewhere in the world, you're still sitting and waiting so... forget that. You are great Sir and this measly mortal has nothing on you!

I do wonder how strong he is. Is he as strong as a demi-god? Could he be counted as a technical divine? Something to meditate on. What would be his domain; probably the drawn-out monologue domain?

that might just be every villain, though? They all talk too much. Now to find my next opponent. Got to find the ugliest tree. I would hate to ruin a perfectly fine Christmas tree. Wait, do they celebrate that here? Probably not?

"Hi!"

"Who's there?" My eyes scan the surrounding and wouldn't you believe it, Tsunade in the flesh (again)

"Troublesome," I mutter quietly hoping she wouldn't hear me. I don't know how strong she is, weren't the Sannin like super-duper strong even as kids. I can't remember such small details.

"What? Did you say something, old man?" Her smile is annoying and very punchable.

"I am not old. Forty-four is not old." Well, that was a mistake.

"Wait. You're older than the actual old guy?!" Probably means the Hokage.

"Behave yourself. I'm not old! I'm perfectly healthy and good-looking." No idea why I had to emphasise that.

Now the scorn is visible in her eyes. "Sure. You old guys always think too highly of yourself, I bet you're just a pervert like the Hokage. You have that look about you." Should I mention the slight blush that is spreading over her cheeks?

"What do you want?" I swear I will freeze her and end the Slug Princess twenty years early. I might actually have considered it if I wasn't sure Hiruzen would find me and drive a pole up my behind.

"The old man wants to see you. Make your way over there... Teacher." She added with a teasing smirk as she jumped away.

"Wait. What did she say?" The audible question was not intentional. My brain shut down and the words just slank out.

"Don't tell me she is my student." The talk with Hiruzen kind of hinted at just regular civilian students. I don't know how to teach someone to fight; I don't even know how I'm throwing a punch. My predecessors know, I do not. Honestly, I'm not even sure that this is my body. The only time I feel like myself is when I cook food or sleeping. Just walking feels unnatural because of how effective my body is at breathing.

How the hell am I gonna run a classroom full of hormonal future war-machines. They will eventually go on to kill hundreds if not thousands, and I'm supposed to teach them how to do it?

Hiruzen will hear my two cents about this.

Screw that. He is still as frightening as all hel.

"God damn morons." It's silent, but I hear it. I'm obviously too much of a coward to ask.

"Here. that is the contract and other important papers concerning your new employment. Permanent if it was up to me, but those morons are all over me about not making your station permanent. I see their point, but GOD are they annoying!"

Yep, not saying anything about it. Not gonna become the new target of his frustration.

"Thanks. So... I met Tsunade. She called me a teacher...." My voice just drifts off hoping he fills in the silence with his explanation.

"Long story short." He takes a breath, to calm down I assume.

"Everyone except me was against giving you any position of power, no matter how small. So after hours of tedious back and forth it was decided that you will tutor a certain trio. They are three students who are very far ahead of their years. Tsunade is one of them and I have been helping her on the side for a time. You will now take over that responsibility."

We all know who the other two are.

"If they are so impressive, why are you giving them to me? Again, I am a newly arrived citizen of this village. I know you fixed my papers and all, but still, you are the only one not finding me suspicious, and that makes me suspicious." I was probably annoying him by coming back to this, but I seriously can't figure out why he is so adamant about trusting me.

"The position of Hokage isn't something you get by being foolish. I know your value and I won't let any other village have you. Just know that I see a lot more than people like to think. I am actually not a drunk pervert... most of the time." He adds silently. Did I mention my hearing improved? Actually, all my senses got a major overhaul.

"As for why you are to teach the trio. I decided on it. Those three were supposed to be trained by me when they graduate, but by using them I can accel your worth in a very short amount of time. I hold accountability over their education and progress. The call to make them your students was mine and mine alone. The council isn't happy, but who cares about those morons."

"But this entire plan hangs on me actually be able to teach them something. You have never seen me fight." This plan had some merit to it. Those three will make a name for themselves if things stay the same and if I prove myself as a competent teacher I would hold some value to the village.

His demeanour changed and a suffocating pressure slammed down on my shoulders. Luckily my inner God woke up and fought back. Something I've never felt before was released from inside me and in an instant, our auras clashed and the floor and walls almost blew apart.

"I was quick to trust you, that is correct. But do not take me for a fool. You have been under surveillance the entire time you've stayed here, even before you first met Tsunade. I felt your mysterious arrival and had my Anbu watch you." Our auras calmed down at this point. The room was now safe from destruction... phew.

"The point is that I have seen what you can do. Remove your ice ability from the equation, you demonstrate raw physical power most Jonin lack. While your speed is not as great as this villages' best, I have seen more than enough to know you are a mountain that those three brats couldn't hope to climb as they are now."

"So you're using me as a motivational tool for their growth?"

"Exactly."

"I hate politics. I just wanted a quiet classroom and idiots to impress with my knowledge."

"Why do you think I became the Hokage? Free drinks all day. Politics isn't so bad if you learn how to utilize it." I stay for a bit longer as Hiruzen and I hammer in the details.
