"You may die, or you may become a servant to the higher powers, what will you choose Jinx?" ]
His raspy voice seemed to echo in Jinx's head after he spoke, tearing her mind apart as she had to make an impossible decision. She needed time, something he most likely would not give her. "Well?" He said, cocking an eyebrow in curiosity. Silently and slowly, she closed her eyes, and nodded her head. She didn't want to die, but she wasn't sure she wanted to live like that. When he saw the slight nod he began to laugh, quietly at first then building into a deep hearty cackle. It was horrible. She almost cried, but was too scared to show the man any vulnerability.
As soon as he stopped cackling, her head shot up. She was back at her desk, looking around the room as if someone was going to attack her. Was it all a dream? It couldn't be. There was no way that could be possible. She was about to get up and go to the office, but suddenly she felt nauseous. She gagged and instead of running to the office, ran to the bathroom. She got to the toilet and started throwing up. Her throat burned and her knuckles were white from gripping the toilet, until they weren't.
She still felt sick, but she wasn't throwing up anymore so she sat down on the floor and held her stomach. She was staring down at the floor, but glanced to where her hands were when she saw a faint glow. She lifted her hands, and they were glowing. Actually glowing. It was terrifying and confusing and mesmerizing all at once, and it meant that it wasn't a dream. It also meant that a controller of the world paused time just to talk to her, and now her hands were glowing. She didn't know what to feel emotionally, but now, once again, she felt sick. Even sicker than before.
