"Dad Rory is still your daughter, you should still try to be patient with her," Sammy told her dad

"I know Sammy. But that girl is really something else. I just called to ask her to come back home. I mean, she left home and the next thing we know, she's already attending one of the most expensive schools in the city. How can she afford it? She has really let me down" Right now, he sounded like an upright father who was so disappointed in his daughter.

"Wow! The award for best actor goes to, Mr Henry Devane!" Rory clapped and entered the living room.

Mr Devane and Sammy frowned.

"What do you mean?"Sammy asked.

"What do I mean? A minute ago the both of you sounded so self-righteous. Ah yes! What was that thing you said about me letting you down?"

"Oh yes, I remembered!"She sat down on the couch and put her legs on the table.

"Rory!"Mr Devane shouted.

"Rory!"Rory imitated and laughed.

"Aurora shows some respect to Dad. He's your father after all"Sammy told Rory.

Aurora started laughing so hard, that her stomach started to ache.

"What's so funny?"Sammy couldn't help but ask.

"Am sorry but you said that this man is my father. Please explain how" Her tone was mild.

"What are you saying, Rory?!" Mr Devane was so angry that he looked like he was about to have a heart attack.

"What? Did I lie? Weren't you the one who said that I had no relation with your family anymore? So I was really surprised when you said I should come home. Which home are you speaking of? Hope it's not this one?"

"That's enough Rory! I let you say whatever you want about me but not my dad! I thought you were angry about us sending you out of the house, that's why we called you back. We didn't even mind that you were sleeping around and accepted you, yet you still say these things? You are so ungrateful!" Sammy looked angry.

"Ungrateful? Slut? What else do you want to add to your list of insults? Well, you are just an illegitimate child! Even if he is my father I won't still respect him! He is nothing but a cheater! You are nothing but a scumbag!" She retorted.

Mr Devane was so furious that he slapped her.

Rory was used to this. They often abused her. However, that was then. This is now.

Rory returned the slap. But to Sammy.

"Rory! Have you gone mad?!" Sammy screamed.

"No. Your dad slapped me, so I slapped you. Tit for tat. You have no right to touch me or ask about my whereabouts. Do you get that?"

They all looked at her in shock. Even the servants couldn't believe their eyes.

"You... You.... You..."Sammy was so baffled that she couldn't form a sentence.

"Shocked? Well, you should be. You murderer. Why didn't you tell me what Mr Cole said? You think you are smart. Did you really think it's that easy to get rid of me?"Her eyes were filled with viciousness. Her tone was soft but it carried too much weight that it made one shudder.

She walked closer to Sammy. They were so close that their nose were almost touching.

"This is just the beginning. Remember what I said. Mark today's date! I Aurora Clinton will make you pay for every one of your crimes. You are just an illegitimate child."

Each of those words was like thunderbolts to Sammy. Especially the last sentence. It kept ringing in her mind. It wasn't like this was the first time Rory had said it but this time, her voice was so scary.

Both father and daughter stood like statues. Rory just shook her head and left the mansion.

There was nothing more to say. Seeing their reaction was enough to make her happy. This kind of happiness was hard to come by. She had actually managed to incite fear into someone with her face. Her heart was jumping with joy.

Her phone rang.

"Papi! Hello!"She greeted excitedly. He was finally calling. That's right.

"Why are you so happy, Koala?"He was baffled. Just yesterday, she was sulking about him leaving but now she was so happy.

"Oh, nothing!"She giggled.

Her giggling sounded like a child's. He imagined her cute face while giggling.

"Hope it's not because of the holiday your school gave you?"He asked suspiciously.

"Of course not! I would never enjoy not being in school!"She declared.

"Whatever you say."

They chatted for a long time.

"I miss you"Those were the words she wanted to say but got stuck in her throat.

Daniel just told her goodbye and hung up.

"Rude" She grumbled.

The grumbling was followed by rumbling from her tummy.

"Ma'am it seems like you're hungry. Do you want to have something to eat? There's a restaurant nearby."The driver said.

Rory nodded embarrassed. That was so humiliating. But she was hungry.

They pulled up at a restaurant.

She entered the cafe only to hear someone calling her name.

"Rory! Over here!"

She turned around and saw it was Kay.

Kay immediately walked over.

"Kay? What a pleasant surprise!"

"Indeed"

"Why are you here? And in your uniform?"She eyed her up to down.

"I wasn't informed that there's no school today because of the collapse. I was also hungry so I came here"Rory explained.

"Since you're here, let's eat together, shall we?"Kay offered.

"Sure" Rory agreed.

They went to Kay's table and sat down.

They asked for the menu and ordered.

"So what do you plan to do, during this free time?"Kay initiated the conversation.

"I don't know. I think I am going to have some me time"Rory replied with a smile.

"That's fine too. But you can always hang out with me too. And you could get a head start in teaching us. We have a spot where we usually meet"

"Hmmm. It seems like you've already planned everything out and you were sent to be the spokesperson, right?"Rory immediately caught on to that game.

She wasn't that dumb.

"No that's not true!"Kay immediately refuted.

"Keep saying it, until you believe it," She said as she sipped on her orange juice.

Kay didn't know how to refute.

"I'll check my schedule and contact you," She said plainly.

Teaching was a lot of work.

"Really?"Kay's eyes sparkled like diamonds.

Rory chuckled and their food arrived.
