To hate or blame

"I do," Rose answered.

And also someone else.

"Mr. Kell, you?"

Lydia focused on him.

"Perhaps you, Miss Barnes, like to dole out punishment without learning the entire truth. But the place I come from, we choose to reteace and review before finalizing."

Well, that was a slap on the face.

"Yes, Lydia. My secretary may be new to this but I don't think she would try to sell company secrets."

Asher took a stand in Rose's favor.

"Let's see if she really is innocent. If she is, I can apologize for my mistake."

Was she confident or overconfident? Rose couldn't decide.

"Miss Wyatt, what proof do you have?"

Rose rolled her eyes and put her hand in her other pocket.

She was performing a transforming spell. She couldn't be blatant under everyone's eyes. Most importantly, her mentor was here.

Then she removed thr flower pinned to her lapel. It was a crochet flower. And a gift from a friend. She had just memories so she carried some stuff everywhere.

"Are you procrastinating, Miss Wyatt?"

Rose paid no heed to the chattering Lydia.

"You can see your yourself."

Rose pressed the pin end and an image projected before everyone.

She just played it from the moment she left the room. Anyone she washed her face and then almost fell from the collision from the little girl.

But the surprising part was that she didn't notice the girl putting the evidence in her pocket. She, a witch, was deceived by an illusion expert.

But the projection clearly showed what happened.

"See, I had nothing to do in this."

"Maybe you are acting and she is your partner in crime!"

Rose had enough. She was standing here almost hungry and in no mood of listening to these accusations.

"Boss, you saw everything, you decode and decide."

Ni matter who was fishing in the dirty water, she had no participation. She only had to listen to one person's response. Asher!

"I'm sorry for doubting you," he said turning to Rose and then looked at Lydia, "Stop this nonsense. I'll investigate this matter and Miss Barnes, you act like a knight in shining armor, thank you!"

Lydia looked like a beaten vegetable.

"I'm so sorry, Miss Wyatt. You know how important this is and I don't want Asher to get in trouble. I hope you understand."

Rose felt this went over her head. Lydia maybe the most confusing person she met. Both in human and magical world.

"Miss Barnes, I admire your effort but let me tell you, my student would never do illegal stuff."

Seeing Mr. Kell answering for Rose, Lydia gnashed her teeth.

The event was pretty much uneventful after that.

Rose preferred to walk back home. A car followed behind her.

Rose didnt think much about it till she left the crowded area. Now, a empty lane and a following car seemed like an episode out of a horror movie.

Rose kept walking.

The car neared and it stopped before her cutting her way.

Rose stopped still.

"You make it hard to find you."

Rose tapped her hair band and it turned into a wand.

She sent a fire arrow straight.

The man just swiped it away.

Rose didn't stop. She conjured a water ball and threw it.

"Childish!"

The man laughed.

"You will know who is childish."

Rose threw a lightning bolt towards him and then kept shooting bolts.

"Now, this is new."

But the man still remained unfazed.

"Rose, stop it. You know, I'm here not to fight."

Rose paused and put back her wand.

"I always hated your wand."

"Your opinion means nothing to me."

"Roose, come on. You are an adult now. We can talk like peers now."

Rose felt angry.

"You want to talk how you didn't defend me and had me suspended. You want to talk how you never fought for me and had me shipped out to the human world."

Rose felt her voice rising. If she was younger, she would have cried but now, she accepted it.

"You were a kid, Rose. What would you know?"

Rose looked at her mentor. The Mr. Kell, who was revered by everyone at the party, stood at a loss before now.

"Exactly, I was a kid. That's why it hurts."

"You can know some things now. Your parents asked me to do it. You can ask them."

Rose walked back without any sense.

Her parents.

Her parents wanted to send her away? Why? Was she bad? Did she do something wrong? She was not exactly clever but she did manage to learn spells after a few attempts.

Why?

It wasn't her mistake. She wasn't the one who brooke the law and damaged the Magic world.

She was just at the wrong place on the wrong time.

Rose felt tears clouding her eyes. She somehow managed to go home and sat on the chair.

Her wand transformed back and patted her on the back.

"You know, I am so confused. I can't say I'm not hurt but why? If they had some problems they could tell me, right? Now, I'm finally happy here. Why would he come back and tell me this terrible news?"

Rose sat there the whole night.

On the other side, Asher finally managed too talked a break from the files.

He called his life assistant in.

"Ken, find Lydia something to do. She is being an idiot."

"Yes, sir. What about Miss Wyatt?"

"Haha, Ken. You noticed. A student of Mr. Kell, she is really an enigma. But hey, now we know, she isn't a spy. Maybe, people like them like to work at grassroots level."

Asher knew all about the hidden rich families like Mr.Kell. They rarely appeared but they had a say in all the major matters.

And he definitely saw the concern for Rose in Mr.Kell's eyes.

Who are you, Rose?

Asher was curious. He felt that something was spiraling out of control.

"Yes, sir! Also the old gentleman will be arriving soon. And your step siblings will be back too. Any orders?"

"Let them come. It was getting quiet here. This time, I think, it will all end."

Two conspiracies were spinning towards Rose and Asher and merging their worlds together. Soon, the chaos will reveal the truth or drown them in.

Rose, as a witch, got the signal. Her wand buzzed and she sighed. She could take on the accusation of a murder, the following conspiracy wouldn't affect her.

The perception of danger made her bad mood worse.

And her morning started again, on a worse start.
