Asher put the car in reverse and sped back. He had eyed the intersection and drove there. The truck kept following them. Rose could see the truck coming closer and closer and she knew that her heart was jumping out of her chest.
The distance between the car and the truck was really closing.
She looked at Asher and then at the truck. She had to do something. She was the bodyguard responsible for guarding Asher. Not the other way around.
"Get back. I'll activate the safety shield."
Asher shook his head.
"No, wait for my signal."
It was time. Now or never.
The intersection appeared. Rose turned back and she didn't understand what Asher was planning. Surely it wasn't changing direction, right? The truck could follow him that way.
She believed Asher. But she had her shield on standby.
