Saving a Life (1)

The first thing that Charlie did is to inspect the person that was lying seemingly lifeless beside him. As he had fed him healing pills earlier, his shallow wounds have started to scab over while the deeper ones are still healing. He then pulled out the blood replenishing pill and popped one into the boy's mouth. Slowly, the color returned to the boy's pale face.

"Good," Charlie said smilingly, "It seems that it is your fate not to die."

The boy in front of him has jet black hair and fair complexion, seems about sixteen to seventeen years old. If basing on appearances, Charlie and this boy will seem like to be of the same age. But of course, he is already many years older than his appearance may suggest.

Although some parts of the boy's clothes were torn, Charlie can still see the tight-fitting shirt underneath the chest plate and pants that were probably made of different material to his robes.

"Liam, people's clothes nowadays are completely different from the fashion that Master told me."

[Master, instead of inspecting his clothes, it'll be better if you find shelter before the sun goes down today. You are quite expose to the elements now.]

"Oh, yeah, you are right," Charlie said. "I'll wait for this boy to wake up. I don't know anything in this place so it's better to have someone who knows to rely on."

While waiting for the boy to wake up, Charlie decided to meditate. He wants to see just how much mana he can generate in the moment.

It took almost two hours for the boy to wake up. Even though his pills are of great quality and should have helped the boy heal faster than normal, him taking that long to wake up is a testament that his wounds were really life-threatening.

The boy's eyelids fluttered open, allowing Charlie to notice the boy's brownish black eyes. There were fear initially in them, but as time passed by, the fear diminished. It may be that the boy no longer thought that he is in danger.

"Hey, you awake?" Charlie tried to get his attention.

Hearing his voice, the boy looked at him and scrambled to get up. Charlie didn't help him get up. Just how heavy does this boy think he is! Hmph! Besides, his pills had already did their wonders.

"Who are you? Where am I?"

"I'm Charlie," he replied, "I don't know where we are. What's your name?"

"My name's Elliot."

"Ye Han, huh," Charlie nodded. "I saved you. Do you remember what happened to you?"

The boy scrunched up his brows, trying to remember what happened. Then, as if realization dawned on him, his face paled and he trembled. He hugged himself to stop the fear from making him break down.

"Hey, are you all right?" Charlie drew closer to the boy when he saw that the latter was trembling.

"It was a level 3 horned wolf! The master of this zone was a level 3 horned wolf!" the boy exclaimed.

'Master? Zone?'
