New world

"I know, but it's either that or die with this planet" Sighing bitterly, Saya continued "Besides, you all have a little control in your bodies, and you know perfectly well that you need to have some fights in order to better control your powers. I know the probability of dying is high, but at least we'll have a chance of surviving as long as we're together."

"What a crazy shit..." Scratching her head with a strange smile on her face, Yuuki continued "A year ago talking about fighting beings from other worlds using powers would be considered stupid, but here we are... planning to travel to another world and talking about having to fight to survive."

"Certainly reality is unpredictable" Chuckling, Kiriko continued "Then we have no choice, but what shall we do with Yuriko?"

"I already asked about that" Looking deeply at Fenrir, Saya continued "When we make the race change and go to that other plane, we all become connected to a bridge on this earth, that bridge is Fenrir"

"So no matter where we go, my mother will appear wherever Fenrir is."

"So... we'll have to leave all this?" looking sideways reluctantly, Shizuka muttered "I like it here..."

"We can make ourselves another house in the other world" Gently stroking Shizuka's head, Rika turned sideways and commented "We'll have to gather everything important, bring the futons, blankets, clothes, weapons and food"

"*Sigh*" Leaning back on the ground, Rei murmured softly "It feels so bad to know that we have to leave, I have so many good memories on this island"

"I just hope we don't end up on some ruined world" Chuckling, Kiriko continued "Let's not forget to bring the tools, we might have to build a house"

"Mn"

After a morning full of work and gathering, the group finally had everything packed and ready to go.

Although they could have traveled a few weeks or months later, if they learned anything after the apocalypse began, it is that it is useless to delay the important things and it is better to take the initiative in the face of danger.

In a way all the girls learned this from Fenrir, who at the slightest aggressiveness tears the opponent to pieces and thus avoids thousands of problems, leaving aside Rika of course, after all even in the militia she was known for being brutal.

"So... shall we go?" carrying a large backpack full of food, Rika looked at the rest of the girls and asked.

"*Sigh* It certainly makes me a little homesick to leave this place" Looking at the house with pursed lips, Kiriko commented.

"We can always come back when we find some way to suppress our vitality, I don't think there isn't some solution" Turning her gaze to the sea beside her, Saya continued "Besides... we've left our home before, we left friends, family and everything that previously mattered to us... at least now we'll stick together in the face of what awaits us"

"..."

Hearing Saya's words, all the girls couldn't help but feel their hearts sink, after all it is a rather cruel reality.

There is no person in this group other than Yuuki who doesn't have a family to go back to.

Shizuka has her parents, and although there is a 99% chance that they are dead, it is not easy to take it for granted.

Rika is no different, having parents, siblings, even her grandparents alive, at least before it all started.

Even Saya, who lost her father in front of her eyes, has several cousins and uncles around Japan.

No doubt most of the girls in this place are leaving a lot behind quite suddenly, even though they themselves know that most probably all or at least most of their relatives are already dead.

After all, there are only a few million left alive in this world, and certainly none of them are naive enough to think that all their relatives are among that small number.

"We could certainly come back later" Taking a deep breath, Rika continued "We had no plans to leave this island for quite some time, so it wouldn't be much different to go to another world and learn to use our powers. I'm sure in a couple of years we could come back and dealing with humans or zombies wouldn't be difficult at all."

"But leaving that aside..." Turning her gaze to the smiling Shizuka, Rika asked quizzically "Weren't you sad this morning?"

"We're a pack!" Shizuka smiled brightly and continued "Home is not a simple structure, but the people who inhabit that structure!"

"Pack, huh..." With interest and pride in her gaze, Rika wiped a fake tear from her eye and sighed dramatically "My little Shizuka has matured so much *Sniff*, I miss my naive and silly busty self so much already."

Since Shizuka talked to Fenrir about her big secret, she herself stopped secluding herself and although she is still as smiling and tender as ever, at least she doesn't play dumb and pretend naivety like she used to.

After all Shizuka managed to love the girls and Fenrir like a real family, trusting them to such an extent that she wouldn't even be offended if any of them touched her furry tails, because certainly only she knows that she would go crazy with fury if someone unknown tried to touch them.

"Then let's go" Turning her gaze to Fenrir, Saya smiled slightly and watched him carefully "It's been a long time since I've seen you in that outfit... It certainly makes me very nostalgic to see you like that"

"*Sigh* It's amazing how much has happened since we found him" Looking at Fenrir with a soft smile, Saeko laughed softly and continued "Also how much he has changed, just look at him, now he looks so much friendlier without that aggressive atmosphere he used to give off."

"Maybe for us he is like that, but I doubt that people who don't know him don't feel fear towards him" Chuckling, Rika continued "Even more so with that strange costume and that hairy tail he has, he honestly looks like a demon from horror stories."

"..." Cocking his head slightly, Fenrir lowered his gaze and murmured doubtfully "Isn't he cool?"

"..." Blinking for a few seconds in a daze, Rika chuckled and commented "Not at all, horror stories are cool."

"Oh..."

"Come to think of it... if it wasn't for Shizuka, we might be dead now" Rubbing her chin while looking at Fenrir, Rei casually commented.

"Don't forget that I was the first one to tell them not to fool around" Raising her hand with a proud smile, Saeko commented.

"Who knew Shizuka would save our lives..." Muttering to himself, Saya completely ignored Saeko's comment and sighed, then turning to Fenrir and continuing "Shall we go?"

"Mn" Closing his eyes for a few seconds, Fenrir completely turned off his new rational sense and went back to being the same Fenrir he was known to be in Siberia, then raising his hand above his head and with a speed impossible for the girls to follow, lowered his hand as a faint darkness enveloped his fingernails, causing suddenly the wind to condense as a dark and tetric oval hole opened in front of them.

"Wow..." With bright eyes full of curiosity, Saya quickly approached the hole and muttered "It looks like a black hole... it's eating the air..."

Bringing her face a little closer, Saya continued "I see... it's closing automatically... considering what I see now, in 15 minutes this place would be repaired again."

"There goes the crazy lady with her theories" Rolling her eyes, Rika approached the hole and asked "Is it safe to enter that thing?"

"According to this entity, using this is no different than using a portal to teleport, we will directly pass to another plane or planet and not notice the path" Without taking her eyes off every inch of the hole, Saya continued "But leaving that aside, I still think it's amazing that torn space fixes itself... if we consider that even rocks have life, the universe itself is not a living thing?"

"..."

"*Sigh* Leave her alone" Knowing full well that since the race change Saya can talk for hours about anything banal, Rika looked at the portal for a few seconds and fearlessly stepped inside.

"Let's go" Taking Fenrir's hand, Saeko didn't wait any longer either and stepped straight into the portal.

"What are we waiting for!?" Taking Rei's hand, Kiriko laughed loudly and exclaimed "See you on the other side!"

Shaking her head, Yuuki laughed and patted Saya's shoulder "Come on, let's not leave anyone alone."

"Mn!"

***

"Wow... I was expecting something tetric but nothing like this" Putting the backpack down, Rika looked around and muttered in a daze.

"Don't even tell me... but for some reason I feel really good here" Nodding equally dazed, Kiriko continued "Maybe because we're not human anymore?"

For a demon and a dragon to be surprised by the atmosphere of the place, it's because it's really quite creepy for any ordinary human.

Large trees and thick trees cover the entire view of the place, while the atmosphere feels heavy and a chilling coldness envelops everyone who sets foot in this forest.

The trees are so thick, that neither sunlight nor moonlight can penetrate inside, but as if that were not enough, the few rays of light that manage to enter, transmit a tetric crimson light that would make the hair on the back of any normal human being's neck stand on end.

"A forest... was certainly the most likely probability in my calculations, but I thought we were going to Siberia of some different world, not this strange place" Stepping out of the portal while looking sideways, Saya muttered.

Removing his wolf helmet, Fenrir frowned slightly and looked every which way, while his face crumpled in disgust and bared his fangs menacingly.

"Is something wrong?" noticing the strangeness in Fenrir, Saeko asked with concern.

"This place... it stinks of other animals..." Clenching his fists, Fenrir continued "How dare they mark my territory?"

"..." Blinking as she assimilated the words, Rika laughed and replied "Your territory? But you just stepped on this land!"

"Isn't everything I see my territory?" Cocking his head to the side genuinely confused, Fenrir asked.

"Come to think of it..." Stepping out of the portal, Rei looked at Fenrir with surprise and muttered "We never taught him the sense of other people's property..."

Although Fenrir learned quite a lot, he never learned anything like ownership.

In fact, for him, everything he touches is his territory, and it is thanks to that same belief that in Siberia he managed to expand his territory beyond miles.

That same belief cost him an arm and that same belief almost killed him many times, after all the other animals were not amused when an invader came to take their territory.

In a way Fenrir, living most of his life with wolves, never had a completely marked territorial sense, after all wolves are animals that travel constantly and their territories never stop changing.

With those experiences it is not uncommon for Fenrir to consider everything he sees and touches as part of his territory.

Although this does not mean that he would kill all life in the place, but simply that he would not accept the challenge nor an alpha in his lands, and in this case where the animals marked every tree in this forest, for Fenrir this situation is not unlike a declaration of war.

"We'll have time for that later, but first..." Looking around, Saya continued "We need to find a place to set up a base and then explore the area, we need to have a basic understanding of this place."

"This is already closed..." Pointing to the empty space behind her, Shizuka commented.

"It closed earlier than expected" Rubbing her chin while thinking about the portal again, Saya suddenly shook her head and grabbed the bags "Come on, we need to find a good area"

"Mn."

As all the girls started walking around the place, Fenrir kept looking sideways for a few more seconds, while his aggressive expression didn't fade for any moment.

"Grr" Growling with dissatisfaction, Fenrir turned around and started walking behind the girls, while his senses expanded to the max and scanned everything around 5 kilometers.

Minutes passed and apart from finding trees with terrifying shapes, the pack did not encounter any animals or monsters around the place.

"This is strange..." Frowning slightly, Saya continued "I find it illogical that not even an insect can be seen."

"Perhaps we are in the territory of a being as territorial as Fenrir."

[A/N: I have had comments that the weekly chapters are too few and it is certainly so, so from this week I will start to maintain a weekly quota of 4 chapters for this story having one every other day approximately. Ideally, in the future I would like to have one chapter per day and that is something I will get to in time.

Thank you all for your support and enjoy the chapter.]
