Chapter 1 - Meeting with Death (Prologue)

(p.s the chapters get longer after a while. For the first few 10-20 chapters, most of them are short)

Shiki, was on his death bed, he had been bedridden for the past few months. His family had agreed on euthanasia, a humane form of ending a patient's life of suffering

*coughs*

I struggle for breath, it was getting extremely uncomfortable to breathe... Each breath brought me a devastating amount of pain, it felt like I was swallowing small amounts of acid each time.

"He doesn't have much longer to live, you should give him your farewells." a doctor says.

"Mum... Dad..." I tear up as they clutch both my hands.

Both of them crying over the top of my stomach, sobbing uncontrollably... I could feel the warmth grasping both my palms tightly.

A new virus had surfaced not too recently this year and Shiki was one of the unlucky victims that happened to catch it early on.

Named by the World Health Organization(WHO) as FOV-2 which appeared first in the Southern America continent

Unfortunately, Shiki had been in a critical condition for months in the Intensive Care Unit, he was already going into total organ failure.

Even though the there was the slightest chance of recovery, Shiki and parents alike agreed to euthanasia, signing the certificate.

"Are you ready?" My doctor gives me a pleasant smile as the assisting nurse brought in a table cart tray, on it was the few materials needed for the euthanasia.

"This won't hurt you one bit."

The doctor took of my life support equipment and my parents stood by my side, both of them grasping onto my left hand as they stare solemnly at my sickly body.

"You need to push this mechanism by yourself." the doctor placed a switch onto my hand,

"It will inject the chemical into your body and only you can press the switch."

Slowly, I push the switch with my right hand until it reached the end.

Mom and Dad still clutching my left hand every bit of the way.

*It's done*

I had lost my use of voice, so instead, I grasped my parents hand before slowly closing my own eyes.

This is taking a while.....

I open my eyes slowly beginning to doubt whether I had died.

"Huh?"
