“Stick to writing things down.” Todd set his glass down and asked, “Is there anything else I need to know?”
Celeste shook her head. “Micah will meet you with horses when the boat docks, and he’ll be able to arrange whatever supplies you or Heidi Maverick need. Neither of us can tell a demon from a regular person.”
“Don’t worry, Nick and Heidi have that covered,” Todd said.
“The boat is back in home dock at seven tomorrow morning,” Celeste said.
Todd nodded. “We’ll be ready.” He headed toward the exit, walking casually and without hurry so he wouldn’t call attention to himself. As soon as he was in the hall, he stopped and looked around for Nick.
His mate was leaning against the wall next to the still locked up billiards parlor. “What did she give you?” Nick asked.
Todd extracted the paper and handed it over to Nick, who opened it and read it. He looked at Todd. “How do you know you can trust this? The only thing it says is to trust that woman, Celeste. There is no signature.”
