2. Calia Aster

Calia's Pov:

I am Calia Aster. I was born with the element fire. I was also gifted with' 'Healing'-- oops I wasn't suposed to share this. My mom, Ei always tells me not to tell anyone of my gifts, or use it in public, I have no idea why.

As I stood in the class, raising my voice against Mr. Jack, I said "Well maybe you also don't want to find the truth, because apparently it's so much easier to accept the blatant lie." He shot back at me, and as we argued, I got into a heated discussion with him. Lastly, I got kicked out of the class.

Third Person Pov:

Life was the same old routine for the Enchancians. Their soil had little to no fertility, so they had to depend on Vulcania for the food supply. They truly worshiped the Vulcanian empire, the saviors.

The people there, though cruel and cruel, were their saviors. As soon as you were born, you were trained in combat or magic from birth, depending on the element. It is only when you are old enough that your training ends, and you choose a career for yourself.

The Enchancian empire was a moderately big area, with the royal castle on one end of the kingdom. The castle, which no one had visited ever since the assassination. The once magnificent fort with a combination brilliant white and red, walls gracefully crafted and painted, a massive fountain at its very entrance with intricate carvings in gold, all had been destroyed by the Kaldanian Emperor. The insides portrayed stories of all the major events.

Now it looks like some worn out building, with nothing but dust surrounding it, but no one dares enter. A sign is hung high above the gate, showing that the land has already been surveyed. No one goes near it. And nobody talks about it.

Calia Pov:

As I was walking down the street towards my home, I noticed a scratch on my finger. Perhaps it was by the bullies. After a few weeks of them bullying me, my friends tried to warn me, yet they were too late.

Upon reaching home, I looked at the mirror. My brown hair in a frenzy, my olive skin, now covered in dust, and my dress ripped in several places and dirty. That was one hell of a training. I quickly cleaned up and got changed, then went to the kitchen to help out my mother.

It was the same old routine for me, always going to school, coming home, helping put my mother, controlling my anger in front of my father, helping out my sister, and occasionally reading. I never had the freedom to go anywhere, nor did I have the freedom to express my feelings. I was trapped in a cage, a cage of torture.

After letting out a sigh, I turned to look at my mother. Her name was Ei Aster, she was born with water magic, and she also was a master of Ice affinity. I don't blame my mother for the hardships I face honestly, she is the only one who keeps me sane at times. Her fair complexion now worn out, it felt like she had aged ten years. She still worked hard everyday.

"What do you say we eat dinner?" My mother asked me softly. Tucking her brown hair behing her ear, her scar on her right wrist came into view. She had gotten it a few years back, claiming that she got it while cooking,..and we both know it was not true.

"Sounds good", I smiled.

As we headed to the dinner table, I saw my father, Tefan Ash Brown. He was drunk, again. It wasn't an unusual sight, but it does ick me off everytime.

My father is a Wind elemental mage. With brown skin, blue eyes and black hair, he would have been an attractive individual, if his drinking addiction wasn't present. His attitude, well, was another story. He had a very short temper, and he enjoys beating us up, everytime. I suppose that I should be thankful that my mom isn't as abusive as he could get.

As I sat beside my mother, a pair of hands hugged me from behind. It was the only person I loved with all I had. My sister.

"AVIEEE" I exclaimed as I hugged her back, enticing a giggle from her.

Avicia Aster, my sister was two years younger than me. She was born with the element Earth. She was a beautiful girl, with fair skin like my mother's, curly brown hair and freckles over her nose. She was rather timid, and shy.

After we finished eating, and my dad left, it was just us three. We had become close over the years, we shared everything together. My sister had always been the closest out of the four of us. We talked about what we did today, and went to our rooms.

As I was reading the novel I recently borrowed, I thought about my brother-- half brother actually.

Trevor Ash Brown, he was a blonde haired boy with blue eyes and milky white skin, he was born with the element fire. He was my older brother, and had an annoying habit of flirting with anything female. As charming he was, he had this short temper as well, like our father's.

I always remembered that day when he left us. As for his origin, I heard he was the son of one of our Father's affairs. He had no place to go, and mom was kind enough to take him in.

"I will remember this all my life", were the last words he said, before leaving us, forever.

The door opened, and Avicia entered.

"Hey, you ready to sleep yet?" She asked as she sat next to me, resting her head on my shoulder.

I shook my head, I was still reading my novel.

"Come onnn, I'm sleepy," she whined.

"Then go to sleep" I said, raising a brow. Our rooms were separate anyways.

"Can't. They are fighting again" she said, closing her eyes. "Can I sleep here?"

"Of course."

The random thoughts still roamed my head as I tucked Avicia in. Lying next to her, I let my head rest on hers. We fell asleep in each other's arms.
