What Awaits in the Darkness [2]

As Sheriff, Noah Stilinski had to be present for the elimination operation. Like everyone else, he understood little about the subject and barely had time to truly learn what dark entities are.

But seeing those dozens of armored cars that had arrived at the location, there was no doubt that they were here to eliminate something very dangerous.

"Aren't you going in with the armored vehicles?"

"The space is very tight. We'll disembark here, and if we don't come out by dawn, you need to call this number." Liam handed a number to Noah, who was the contact agent.

Noah took the number and nodded briefly. He had never been in a situation like this, so this was the least he could do.

"Good luck."

"Luck is for the weak. We don't survive on luck," Liam said before putting on his helmet and protective mask against toxic gases.

At that moment, agent after agent, covered in black tactical combat gear, disembarked from the armored trucks and climbed into the off-road vehicles.

Around thirty agents were selected for this operation. Many were the best Ethan had gathered over the years, and others were specially chosen for this mission.

"Zz... Alpha Team en route."

About five kilometers away, there was a checkpoint where around fifteen agents were gathered in the center of a special circle that would keep the dark entities out.

"Zz... Beta Team in position."

Ethan, on the other hand, was alone near a cabin. His body glowed slightly with a translucent black aura as he murmured, "Target is secure; beware of illusions."

"Zz... Understood."

The night descended quietly. Inside a cabin in the middle of the forest, the girls involved in the Slenderman summoning were gathered.

"Are we the bait?"

"Those guys are crazy. I can't believe they're here to kill Slenderman."

"Whatever they are, they seem to be a special government department. I don't think they're lying."

Hallie stayed close to the fireplace. She couldn't deny it; she was trembling just like all the others. "We'll be fine if we stick together and stop talking."

"Do you really think those bastards with guns can kill Slenderman?" Chloe asked, slightly panicked.

But before they could continue arguing, the sound of heavy footsteps reached the door, and a huge figure appeared in the light's reflection.

Only then did they realize that Slenderman had arrived.

The warmth in the room began to fade, the wind howled fiercely, and the cabin door started to creak under pressure.

Hallie huddled with her friends.

They were all terrified.

They had been abandoned here to their fate, used as bait, and left to be Slenderman's prey.

"God, please help us," Chloe murmured, closing her eyes tightly.

Wren held her friend and whispered, "You don't believe in God, Chloe."

"It doesn't matter; we just need to pray."

"Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."

Crack! Crack! Crack!

The tree branches burst through the windows, glass shards flying everywhere, and just when the girls thought they were going to die, a barrage of gunfire tore through the darkness.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Roaaarrr!!!

A thunderous roar erupted from the darkness, and at that moment, Slenderman's full figure was revealed.

Ethan walked toward him slowly and murmured, "Prepare to be hunted, vile beast."
