Ethan had listened carefully to what the girl, Aisha, had told him. It only took a bit of investigation to uncover that numerous truckers had gone missing on the same route, and so far, no serious investigation has been conducted.
The border with Mexico connects to Texas, but Ethan was in California. If he wanted to reach the location by nightfall or midnight, he needed to start the journey as soon as possible, and that's exactly what he did.
Although the travel time could vary depending on the type of helicopter used and specific flight conditions, many military helicopters have faster flight speeds than commercial ones, with some reaching speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour or more.
Assuming an average speed of around 300 kilometers per hour, the flight of approximately 1,500 to 2,000 kilometers between California and Texas could take between 5 and 7 hours. However, this time was significantly reduced due to the various means of travel they employed.
"Is the information reliable?" Ethan inquired.
"Hundreds of people have gone missing; numerous truckers have disappeared on that route, and it always happens at midnight," Liam confirmed.
"Vampires…" Ethan muttered.
"Exactly. If it's a vampire nest, wouldn't it be easier to just bomb the place? Less work, right?" Liam suggested, looking over the information on the location where people were apparently disappearing.
Ethan shook his head and explained, "We don't have the exact location. It's better to use a handheld bomb to eliminate whatever's left when we begin the purge."
But at that moment, mid-flight on the way to Texas, Bobby, who was in the helicopter, asked, "Excuse me, but what the hell am I doing here?"
"Didn't I tell you to take him home?" Ethan turned to Liam with a serious expression.
Liam, slightly confused, murmured, "I thought you meant to take him along. You never mentioned his home, and he didn't complain either."
"I had a terrible headache. How was I supposed to know where you were taking me?" Bobby retorted while munching on an energy bar.
Everything happened so fast. The helicopter arrived, and everyone boarded, including Bobby, who was given some bags. He had fallen asleep as soon as they took off and only woke up hours later.
Upon realizing they were on a mission, Bobby asked why he was on the helicopter. Ethan hadn't noticed earlier because he was busy making important calls to secure the necessary supplies for the mission.
"Well, no matter. You said you were in the military once, so you know how to shoot, right?" Liam encouraged Bobby, who seemed a bit shaken.
Bobby glared at Liam and shouted, "You want me to kill vampires with a gun like I'm Rambo?"
"You can carry the gear. We'll do the shooting." Liam handed Bobby the briefcase with the bomb, leaving him in charge of it.
"I'm not participating."
"You told me you beat your werewolf friend in a fight. That fight sounded pretty impressive, according to you. This should be less impressive by comparison," Ethan added with a grin, earning the support of the other agents in the helicopter.
"We've got the regent with us. With his skills, this mission won't be deadly."
"No one will die on this mission; you can handle it."
Bobby had no choice but to agree, but he still wondered how these men could take it so lightly that he, a simple school teacher, was suddenly on a mission to eliminate vampires in a helicopter.
"I've got classes tomorrow. I haven't missed a day since I started as a teacher, and I don't plan on starting now."
Ethan nodded slightly and said, "We'll have you back by first thing tomorrow. Don't worry."
"Zz… Fifteen minutes until arrival," the pilot announced.
When Liam heard this, he nodded and shouted, "Alright, ladies, this mission is simple. We're heading to a vampire nest, posing as simple workers at a truck stop bar. The mission is straightforward: go in, drink, and kill."
"Understood."
"These vampires are smart. They don't attack anyone who isn't a trucker to avoid attracting too much attention in the news. But now that we've discovered them, we'll split into two groups and infiltrate for the elimination at midnight."
Bobby was seriously questioned about whether he wanted to go on this mission. How had they survived this long with so few instructions?
