As they ventured deeper into the alley, the tension grew more intense with each step, but eventually, the man holding the drunken woman came to a halt.
Stiles turned around, hoping that his movement might help avoid being noticed by the man.
"I advise you to turn around and disappear from my sight. Bad things will happen if you don't leave," the man warned.
"Sorry, but we're the law, so let me tell you, you're under arrest," Stiles said, pulling out his gun and aiming it at the man from a distance.
The man smirked slightly, then threw the drunken woman against a trash container, and before Stiles could react, he made his move.
"Get down!" Ethan shouted, pushing Stiles out of the demon's range while simultaneously dodging the blade that was speeding toward his neck.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
With three consecutive slashes, the surroundings were cut through like butter, indicating that those blades were of perfect quality—certainly worth further investigation to enhance human weaponry.
"Stay back!" Ethan shouted as he swiftly distanced himself and then charged toward the demon.
The demon saw Ethan approaching at superhuman speed and tried to stop him with an attack, but both the speed and agility were beyond what the demon could predict, causing it to miss.
Crack!
Ethan's knife plunged into the throat of the tentacled demon with such force that it flung the creature against a wall, which cracked upon impact.
But to Ethan's surprise, the demon that should have died didn't. Instead, its body began to mutate, forcing Ethan to retreat once more.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three silver bullets lodged into each of the werewolf's limbs. In the midst of its transformation, the creature could do nothing but endure, and once the change was complete, it attacked Ethan.
Boom!
Ethan withstood the blow using wristbands that were a technological replica of the Predator's weaponry, and although they were still in the beta phase, they had just saved his arm.
It was a gamble; Ethan wanted to see how much he could rely on technology, but he also enveloped his skin in darkness, giving him an additional layer of security.
"I've got you."
Clang!
Within seconds, before the werewolf could attack Ethan, the darkness emerged from the shadows, binding the werewolf by all its limbs, preventing it from moving.
"I'm not sure what kind of thing this is, but it's a threat to most soldiers. But for someone like me, it's not a problem I need to worry about," Ethan remarked as he observed the grotesque appearance of the dark entity controlled by the demon.
"At least it taught me much more than I knew about the things we usually eliminate, Professor. Their clear weakness in controlling other species is a significant advantage for us," Anton said as he pulled out a pistol much larger than the previous one and aimed it at the heart.
Bang!
The bullet pierced the chest of the dark entity, and the demon's regeneration couldn't complete. Even if this bullet didn't destroy its heart completely, it was a silver bullet, the weakness of dark entities.
These weaknesses were transferred to the demon, making it vulnerable once again. This information would be highly valuable for the report Anton would later publish on demons.
"Step aside, Professor, I'll handle this." Stiles returned with an RPG and aimed it at the dying dark entity.
Ethan's eyes widened in shock. Where had this agent gotten that weapon of mass destruction?
"Don't shoot, this worked," Ethan exclaimed.
Stiles was about to pull the trigger when suddenly he felt his body freeze for a few seconds. He took a deep breath and looked again at the body of the dark entity, which was now withering away.
"For God's sake, that thing is really dead. Damn, I've never seen something as disgusting as this."
Ethan watched as the body of the dark entity shriveled and murmured, "It seems this is the common outcome upon death. What a mess.
