Sally's trouble

After checking all the rewards, Gerard headed out from Midnight Inn and plan to proceed to Central Plaza. He plans to sell all the Maces he accumulated. These items are taking up space in his inventory and he has not much use for them. But before that, he decided to eat first.

It's been more than 8 hours since he logged in, the evening is coming fast as the slanting rays of the setting sun gave every players and NPCs a warm orange color in the sky above.

Gerard goes downstairs, he studies the ground floor and only a few players and some NPCs are present and eating their fill.

He decided to sit on the server and start ordering food.

"Boss, can I order the meal included on my boarding for tonight?"

Mel as he is, arched his brows and left the server to cook.

It only took half a minute for Mel to return to bring him bad news "Sorry, but the ingredients are lacking, we cannot cook the food intended for you."

"Huh? Is there any food you can cook?"

Gerard nonchalantly asked, he is not a bit worried that food scarce at this Inn.

"Yes, but it will take a very long time."

"H-how long it would take to cook?"

"About an hour."

An hour? Sir, your restaurant will get a very bad review if you are present in the real world!

Seeing him stop for a moment, Mel provides him with an alternative "If you cannot wait that long, you can freely eat from another pub or restaurant. Of course, we will reimburse the payment you gave earlier."

Gerard become irritated but he didn't dare to show it in front of this powerful NPC.

"Is that so? I think I can wait for the food to be cooked, besides I have things to do in the Central Plaza."

Mel nodded his head "Do as you wish." He then turns around to cook.

Gerard sigh and drooped his head.

Huh. It cannot be helped, let's proceed to sell these maces first, and let's see if I can earn a bit.

With that kind of thought, Gerard left the Inn. As he left, Aliyah, Angel, and Lex go downstairs and start ordering food.

Meanwhile, Sally is on the way to Midnight Inn where the three players and Payne Blanc are boarding.

Hmm. I cannot fail this time, if we can at least partake in the chain quest, it is still a big advantage for us.

Sally is planning to join the three if she cannot persuade them to forget about the chain quest. That's the only option available.

She also plans to approach Payne Blanc, but something is stopping her from doing so.

It is clear that Payne Blanc is different from the majority of the NPCs, he might be an elite NPC or an important NPC and has a role to play in the main storyline. And this kind of NPC has its own temperament, making them unique amongst its peers.

Usually, the said NPC has a cold and conceited attitude, it is natural for them to be because they are built like that and they know they are far superior to the majority of their peers.

Although she can get a gist that Payne Blanc is a somewhat approachable person and she saw it with her own eyes when he interacted with those three players.

But what stops her is because Payne Blanc develops a liking for those players or those players have done something that piques the interest of Payne Blanc.

With these thoughts in her mind, she is lost on what to do.

Sigh. Life is hard.

While walking down the streets near the Central Plaza, NPCs and Players steal a glance at her. Even a worried expression currently plastered on her face didn't stop those around her to be amazed at her beauty.

A walking beauty, even a doll cannot be compared to her.

Lost in thought, Sally made a left turn which will lead her to Midnight Inn when suddenly she bumped into the head of another person which made her flinch and massage her forehead due to intense pain

A player is a bit stronger compared to normal NPCs so bumping into one of them doesn't give them too much pain but she still felt it.

Sally instantly voiced out a complaint "Ouch. Hey, watch where you're going and---" But she stopped midway when she raised her head to glance at the person she bumped into.

The other person also massaged his own head "Ouch. Yeah, I am sorry---" but was stopped midway due to Sally shouting his name.

"Mr. Payne Blanc!!"

Sally's mouth was shaped like a big letter 'O' and said Gerard's name.

Gerard frowned for a moment why would another player know his name but become mesmerized when he took a glance at a player in front of him?

What a beautiful face she has!

On the other hand, Sally, from a shocking expression turns to a shy one and a tinge of red blush slowly materializes in her soft and delicate cheeks due to Payne's gaze. She cannot help but look away and brush her hair into the back of her left ear.

Realizing his stares, Gerard quickly retracted and shift his stare to the surroundings, took a deep breath, and checked if the beauty was hurt "Uhm. Are you hurt Miss?"

Hearing him, Sally was quick and use the opportunity to interact with Payne "Uhm. Yes, a little." She says while massaging her forehead.

"I apologize, I was careless and bumped into you."

"No! It's nothing. It's partially my fault, I am lost in thought and didn't realize you're on the same road as well."

"Is that so? Please be careful on your way around."

Gerard turn around, and although he was mesmerized by how beautiful she was, he is not the same during his younger days. Besides, he has shared his fills during his previous life.

And what he wants to do right now is not to indulge himself in his desires but to be rich so he can spend his days inside the game without too much worry.

But after taking a few steps, he heard the girl call out to him.

"Mr. Payne Blanc!"

Gerard was surprised that the girl know his name. He turns around and faces her again "How did you know my name?"

The beauty stop for a moment and sighed "I will apologize in advance. I overheard about the chain quest earlier in the Midnight Inn."

Gerard's brow arched "Are you following Angel and her friends?"

Quickly, Sally raise both her hands and wave them repeatedly "No! No! You are mistaken. Angel posted the party quest and I happened to bump into them and try to ask her but since you engage in conversation, I keep myself a distance and overheard you about the party quest is actually a chain quest."

Gerard obviously didn't buy her reasons but can he complain? Of course not! Actually, this is another way to harvest rewards!

This beauty is another player he can issue a quest with and that is good news for him!

Instantly, Gerard took an act.

He straightened his posture and appeared to be an intimidating NPC.

Sally become aware of the sudden temperament of Payne Blanc which made her gulp.

He's serious! Did I say it wrong? Did I make a mistake? I shouldn't have said it right? This is bad! I already forget about coaxing Angel and her group and my only option are to receive a quest from him. But my last option might disappear because of my excitement...

Trains of negative thoughts party on her mind but oblivious to her, Gerard is happy that he found another prospect to earn rewards!

"So it means you are not friends with Angel and others?"

Sally suddenly took a straight posture and nodded her head repeatedly "Yes, I am not, though to be honest, I asked them if I can partake in the chain quest."

Sally didn't hear a response from Payne and a moment of silence enveloped them which made her heart flutter wildly.

"You want to join them in the chain quest?"

"Yes, but they won't let me." She confesses with a tinge of sadness in her tone

"Sorry, but I cannot advise you to join them in the chain quest for the time being."

Hearing him say that, the beauty drooped down her head in disappointment. Gerard even heard the saddest sigh he heard since logging in to this game.

But Sally's sadness is only short-lived as Gerard gives her hope!

"But, if you want to receive a quest, just say so."

She looks up and stares at Payne Blanc with her eyes beaming and her lips in a full smile.

"For real?!"

"Umu."

"Then! I respectfully request Sir Payne Blanc to grant me a quest!"

In just a fraction of a second, Sally saw Payne is on a full smile.

Gerard, on the other hand, is shouting in delight inwardly and then he heard a familiar notification and a series of information appears in front of him.

Success!

He can coax the player to trigger a quest! As long as the player interacts with him and he can guide the conversation for the player to trigger a quest, the condition laid on him not to intentionally issue a quest will be overshadowed!
