Originally, Buern had an elemental affinity for Souryu's black flames however when Josec rescues her and his mates from Innovain's dungeon, he also severs her connection to Souryu. After encountering Marina in the River Of Recollection, she bonds with Marina and inherits an affinity for water.

Supreme Marine Psychorage, Raging Leviathan.

Buern can fuse consciousnesses with Marina and assume the form of a gigantic leviathan. In this form, she has the ability to liquefy or solidify her body making her impervious to poison or any form of attack that damages the nerves.

Diffusion and Condensation Of Water

Condensation:

Buern has the ability to condense water while assuming the form of the raging leviathan. She condenses water from the atmosphere to assume her psychorage state.

Diffusion:

During the battle against Apollo, Master Pheisl teaches Buern to diffuse the water contained in her psychorage into the atmosphere in order to make the arid climate more humid. He also taught her to absorb water from the soil and diffuse it into the atmosphere through her psychorage.

The Vern Clan are the inheritors of the Phoenix's Spirit. It is their duty to ensure the safety of the entire body of the Phoenix by choosing which battles are worth fighting, also to inspire the body of the Phoenix and protect them against Souryu's consistent attempts at crushing the spirit of the Phoenix's body.

Dragon's Breath:

Buern also has the ability to utilize Dragon's Breath, a technique where she releases fiery joki into the atmosphere around herself and absorbs it. She utilized this ability to keep herself warm in the Land Of Perpetual Ice where Aesakal had inflicted a perpetual snowstorm upon the continent.

Psychorage Improvisation:

Buern is by far the most advanced in the art of Jo-lan amongst the three Phoenix Successors due to her vast experience and years of training under Innovain, her father. She is the first to realize that one can utilize other elements aside from their natural elemental affinities demonstrating this to Josec by utilizing the friction from her fists to set dry wood ablaze and the friction of two stones to generate sparks which she assimilated with her joki to assume a fiery improvisation in her battle against the Four Black Captains.

Indignant Art; Tristran's Interference:

When Buern is really enraged, she can also utilize the indignant art, Tristran's interference. This was a technique utilized by Tristran in Dragon Zone The Code Of Heart And Hate in his attempt to prevent the Dragon Saints from sealing him with the Dragon Zone. It is a technique in which he appeared in their midst and blew them all away with a swing of his tail. When Buern utilizes this technique, she blows away her foes with her fist. It is especially useful when she is surrounded.

Spirit Of The Phoenix:

The Spirit Of The Phoenix gifts the inheritors of the Phoenix's Spirit with the ability to accurately sense and suppress Souryu's sinister will. It also gifts them with an immense knowledge of Souryu's schemes and a special counterattack to protect the body of the Phoenix through inspiration.

Talons Of The Phoenix

In the Hidden Phoenix Village, Josec and Buern undergo a trial by William Fenix, Josec's ancestor and one of the three founders of the Phoenix Clan. William Fenix utilizes the Killer Ghost Concealment, masking his presence from Buern who cannot perceive his high speed movement. He does this to teach Josec and Buern the requirements necessary to utilize the Light's Wound Limit Break. Josec is able to perceive William Fenix's movements but lacks the raw offensive strength to utilize the Light's Wound Limit Break against Souryu. Buern on the other hand possesses the raw offensive strength but lacks the vision to perceive the crack in Souryu's scaly armour. Josec must then become Buern's eyes and Buern must become Josec's strength. During the battle, Buern channels her joki through Josec's Zone Of Absolute Defense greatly amplifying the offensive capabilities of the Zone. William Fenix notes that Buern by doing this has inadvertently unleashed one of the Phoenix's greatest offensive abilities, the Talons Of The Phoenix.

Extra-sensory Perception:

When Buern matches her elemental wavelength to that of Josec's and flows her joki into Josec's Zone Of Absolute Defense, she becomes able to perceive all activity within the Zone by sensing distortions in the Zone and cross referencing them with her opponent's mass.

Armoured Golden Phoenix:

When this fusion Psychorage is utilized, Buern provides the psychorage with raw offensive power, her joki merging with Josec's and Estelle's to take on the form of the Talons Of The Phoenix.
