X-Force #4

Opening Scene Spider-Man is swinging around New York City he had already stopped a couple of small crimes and saved a cat from a tree. It was a quiet evening and he decided to head back to the X-Mansion to work on the spider-bots his latest invention. I walked in the X-Mansion and saw Jean and Scott acting very lovey-dovey in the library. Good for them I thought remembering the relationship drama they went through previously. I should make plans with Kitty after I finish working. I worked on the bots for a few hours giving them more stealth capabilities and even a camouflage mode. I was just about to test it when I heard Xavier call me telepathically (Peter we are having a meeting could you come down to my office please). "Sure be there in a sec" I responded. I walked down to Xavier's office seeing Jean looking slightly annoyed probably because she had to stop making out with Scott to be here. I look for Logan but don't see him in the office. "That's weird I'm usually the last to arrive at our secret meetings nice to know other people can be late," I say as I'm sitting down in my usual spot.

"Give Logan a minute to arrive he already knows what this meeting is about and he needs a moment to prepare himself," Xavier said with a grim look on his face. Jean looked up and asked, "Is this about the Weapon X program".

"The Weapon what now," I ask.

"The Weapon X program made by sadist assholes who see mutants as nothing more than tools for war and murder," Logan said as he walked into the room with an angry look on his face.

"Have you all fought them before?" I ask seeing the distress this topic is causing everyone.

"We've tried and failed a few times they are an elusive organization," Xavier said.

"Yeah and I owe the bastards so let's not waste this golden opportunity" Logan huffed.

"Ok where are they and how do we stop them," I say.

"The main base we have recently located in the forest of Vancouver Canada it is a site for illegal experimentation on mutants with high security with many anti-mutant security measures in place" Xavier explained.

"I'm ready Chuck lets end this" Logan said.

"Hold on we need a day to plan this out we only get one chance for this" Xavier said trying to calm down Logan.

"Fine one day if you aren't ready by then I'm doing this on my own" Logan said as he left the room.

"Why does this feel personal for Logan," I say.

"Weapon X experimented on Logan a long time ago they're the reason he has a metal skeleton," Jean said with a pained expression on her face. After I heard that I couldn't even find the words to express how I'd feel if that happened to me or how Logan is even the slightest bit stable after what was done to him.

"That's…. how…" I say between breaths.

"We know why don't you two get some rest, for now, I will have a mission plan tomorrow morning," Charles says. After Xavier said that I leave the room to head upstairs I see Kitty walking down

"Hey, Peter where have you been all day," Kitty says getting close to me.

"Oh I was working then I did some hero stuff you know the usual," I say trying to hide the exchange I just had with X-force.

"You feeling ok" Kitty asked with concern

"Yeah, Kitty, I'm fine just thinking about stuff," I say. Kitty looks at me for a second and asks "You want to do something"

"You mean now," I say surprised.

"Yep right now," Kitty says practically dragging me out the house.

"Where are we going?" I ask.

"I don't know that's the fun of spontaneous dates," Kitty says with a grin.

"You know what would be fun if you swung us around the city" Kitty light up when she said that.

"You know that would be fun," I say changing into my costume and putting my mask on. I crouch down to give Kitty a piggyback ride and start swinging through the city. Hearing Kitty screams with excitement helped my mood. Thinking about it lately just being with Kitty helps my mood I'm not as cynical with her around.

"So Ghost any place looks interesting or do you just want to swing for while," I say.

"It's nice to see you're feeling better," Kitty says.

"What made you think I was feeling down," I ask.

"Earlier you called me by my name I knew something was up" Kitty retorts.

"What you don't like hearing me say your name," I say as I jump into my next swing.

"I like it just fine, but you've been so stuck on calling me Ghost that when you call me anything else it's weird," Kitty says in a serious voice.

"Yeah you're right I have been feeling down it's just" I stop myself thinking what to say next.

"You can't talk about it cause Xavier swore you to secrecy right," Kitty says with a knowing smile.

"How..." I say with a pause.

"C' mon Peter it's obvious you're always in and out of his office and I've noticed how you seem to clam up talking about what you've been doing these last few weeks," Kitty says.

"Am I that bad at keeping secrets?" I say.

"Yeah but that's one of the reasons I like you," Kitty says holding me tighter almost like a hug.

"And you're fine with me not telling you everything," I ask.

"I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me, but I trust you and I trust the professor so I'm ok for now," Kitty says. I land on a nearby rooftop and set Kitty down.

"I don't deserve you," I say as I pull my mask just enough to kiss her. As I'm focused on Kitty I see a person move in my peripheral vision I break the kiss and pull my mask back down to see a woman running across the roof with silver hair, cat ears, and a bag spilling out money.

"I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that that money isn't yours," I say. The woman looks at Kitty and me for a second before she leaps off the roof quite gracefully I might add and disappears.

"You wanna follow her' I ask Kitty.

"Stop a bad guy then make out some more sounds like our first date," Kitty says as we both follow the woman. I see her two stories below us running down a fire escape and jump in front of her.

"Just put the money down and this can end peacefully," I say holding out my hand. The woman stays silent and glares at me and I see her eyes glow a golden color for a second she jumps off the fire escape. I go to web her but my web-shooters jam and nothing comes out. Kitty phases through the fire escape and tackles the woman to the ground and the googles the woman was wearing come off.

"Get the hell off me," The woman says. I jump down and grab the money getting a good look at the woman she looks no older than Kitty or me maybe fifteen or sixteen.

"And let you run off with stolen money we'd be terrible superheroes if we did that cat lady," I say to her.

"You did not just call me cat lady" the woman glared at me again and her eyes glowed like before. My spider-sense went off and an AC on one the window's above me falls off and almost crushes me. Kitty gets distracted from seeing me almost get crushed and the woman escapes.

"Peter you ok," Kitty asks.

"Yeah I'm fine and word to the wise when the mask is on call me Spider-Man," I say.

"Right sorry who was that woman," Kitty asks.

"I don't know but at least she didn't get away with the money this time," I say holding the money triumphantly.

"Hey is that Spider-Man" someone from a distance calls out.

"Yeah it is and that's the money that cat chick stole from my shop," another man says.

"Yeah, the news is right Spider-man is a criminal," The first man said. I drop the money on the ground and web swing off with Kitty.

"You need a publicist or something," Kitty says with a grin.
