X-Force #5

Opening scene Spider-Man, Jean and Logan are in the Blackbird jet flying to Canada where the Weapon X base is located. The atmosphere is tense and even Spider-Man doesn't know what to say to lighten the mood.

"So what's the deal with airline food," I say feeling like I have to say something. Jean and Logan just look at me with an expression that says did you really just say that. "Sorry I just couldn't take the silence," I say looking at my hands.

"It's fine Peter we should probably just focus on the mission," Jean says in a polite voice, but I catch the double meaning of please shut up. I tinker with my Spider-Bots for the rest of the way. Logan told me to leave them back at the mansion, but I know they will greatly benefit this mission. Logan lands the Blackbird in what looks to be a forest devoid of animals.

"This place is creepy," I say trying to listen for any type of wildlife. "Logan can you hear or smell anything," I ask as we all step out of the jet.

"No it's quiet" Logan responded.

"Too quiet," I say. As soon as I say that both Jean and Logan give me the same expression from before.

"Your jokes are shit today," Logan says as he starts heading west.

"I'm scanning for minds but I'm not picking anything up they must have some kind of psychic dampener here," Jean says. Just then I hear something. Logan looks over the direction of the sound and we both see a bush rustling and a small rabbit come out and run from us.

"That's right you better run," I say to the rabbit.

"This isn't working were all on edge and Peter's jokes are going to drive me insane we need a plan for this" Jean said.

"I might have an idea," I say and see the look of immediate disappointment on both their faces. "I've been working on these robots with infiltration and stealth capabilities I can use them to survey the land and maybe get a look at their base," I say proudly showing my two finished Spider-Bots.

"We don't have any better ideas so give it whirl kid," Logan says letting out a sigh. I set up the bots and see them spring to life I give them commands from my phone to survey the land stealthily and show me all that they see through their cameras. The bots disappear in the forest and start to get to work this place seems just like any forest except we know there has to be some kind of Weapon-X base here. One of my bot's scans what looks to be a stump but picks up a lot of metal beneath it I have it look closer and see there is something buried beneath it.

"Guy's I found something" I say as I start to head in the direction of my bots we all catch up to it and I start digging where the bots scanned the metal and much to my surprise it wasn't something buried under the dirt but a hatch which must mean the base is located underground.

"I think the base is underground," I say back to Logan and Jean. I look for a way to open it when I see a passcode lock.

"Kid think you can open it without alerting security," Logan asks.

"Yeah just give me a second" I have the bots scan the lock and see what the most worn down buttons are and try the combinations until the hatch unlocks. I turn the wheel and open it up for us all to enter. The base is surprisingly well lit and there are no guards running at us with machine guns so I didn't trip the security earlier.

"I'm picking up several minds here a lot of them are in distress," Jean says with her fingers to her temple.

"Go help them me and the kid will shut this place down," Logan said.

"Before you go I can link our minds so we can communicate and to help ensure our safety," Jean said.

"You can do that," I ask.

"Yes," She bluntly responded.

"Will it hurt," I ask.

(You tell me I just did it) Jean responded in my head.

(I will not get used to that) I think.

"Wait did you both hear that," I say.

"Peter come on we don't got all day," Logan said as he started walking off and jean went in the opposite direction to help those in distress.

"Wait for me" I rush after Logan. We walk for a few minutes the hallway were in seems endless I don't know how anyone doesn't get lost in this place. Logan stops me by holding his arm out and I see two armed guards up ahead Logan pops his claws and says "It's go time kid" he rushes the guards and obviously catches them by surprise and chops through their gun like their nothing. I quickly step in and web their mouths and feet to keep them from screaming or running away. Logan takes the opportunity to clonk the guard's heads together knocking them out. Logan starts sniffing the air and my spider-sense goes off and I see more guards arrive and start shooting at both Logan and I. We managed to get out of the way and find cover a steel-framed door

"Were pinned" Logan says.

"Logan can you cut the hinges on the door I have an idea" as soon as I say that Logan pop's a single claw and effortlessly cuts the hinges on the door and I shoot my Vibro blast and launch the door at the soldiers. Logan and I take advantage of this opportunity and rush headfirst into battle. The door trick only knocked out one gut the rest are just dazed. I immediately start webbing up all the ones in my line of sight and Logan is slashing his way through hordes of soldiers.

"Easy Logan fights over," I say hoping those guards aren't dead.

"No, it aint," A voice from a distance says. I look over and see a large hairy man with sharp canines, blonde hair, and nails sharpened to a point.

"Sabretooth," Logan says with hate in his voice.

"Been a long time Wolvey wouldn't of thought you would of come to see me after all these years," Sabretooth says.

"I take it you two aren't friends," I say preparing myself to fight.

"Who's this Wolvey he smells young and where's the blue chick you were head over heels for. Last I heard you two were attached at the hip," Sabretooth said looking me over.

"You wanna catch up or do you wanna fight," Logan says.

"Ouch, that means she dumped your sorry ass maybe I'll pay her a visit after I kill you," Sabretooth said as Logan charged him. What I saw wasn't really a fight more two animal men snarling at each with a clear intent to kill the other as I was about to step in Logan telepathically communicated (Kid I'll keep him busy you find their main server room and destroy all the data these monsters have collected over the years). I don't want to leave him but I stay on task and find the server room it's cold in here probably to keep the computers running at optimal speeds. I find a large computer that must store all their information and I hack into it. I see all the files they keep, the mutants they experimented on, the lives lost and it all makes me sick. As I'm destroying their data I come across a file that says in development labeled X-23. I see it a girl with the same powers as Logan accelerated healing and Adamantium claws at first I think what are the odds then I see she is a clone of Logan.

"Oh my god," I say out loud and then my Spider-sense goes off and a girl jumps down from one of the tall servers and tries to stick her claws in my brain. It's her the clone. She lunges at me not giving me time to think I manage to parry most of her strikes by stopping her mid-swing with my forearm. I have never been more thankful for Logan's training cause now I have to fight someone just like him.
