Chapter 34

**Harper**

After kicking myself for ten minutes. I walked back to the room and I was about to just barge in but thought better. My father and mother haven't seen each other in almost 20 years...did I want to just barge in on their 'reunion'? I think not. I knocked lightly and I heard soft mumbling. And then a louder.

"Come in." I walked in and my mother walked to me and pulled me tightly into a hug, and it was a damn that broke inside my heart. The pain from leaving Gabriel, and fear of not having him there as my safety net. The stress of my entire life that had been thrown upside down in less than a week. I clung to this woman and cried gut-wrenching sobs. She walked me over to the couch and sat down with my head in her lap.

"It isn't your fault, you didn't know. And neither did he...time will heal your heart...and his." Her fingers ran through my hair near my temple as I sobbed. My father awkwardly stood behind the couch.
