Prologue

ALEX POV:

"I'm so sick and tired of you never trying your best for this relationship to work!" shouted Jacob.

"Jacob, I- I always try me best to be good enough for you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me." I begged.

"Look, Alex. I think it's best if we just break up because this... You... It's just not working out."

"No, Jacob, please..."

"I'm tired, okay? I'm tried"

At that moment, Jacob walked away and tears started streaming down my face. I had just lost someone I really cared about. I guess he didn't care about me the same way I cared about him. My mind went into a flux and I kept on crying because... Crying is all I could feel like doing at that time.

I heard footsteps coming from behind me. It was my brother Derek. Derek was always there for me when I experienced a break up or felt sad in any way. It's kinda weird how he did that but I found it a strong friendship gesture. He's my younger brother, after all.

He came to me and put his hand on my shoulder.

"Alex, everything is going to be fine." He assured me. "I think you just need some time away from people like him. He doesn't deserve you. You're way too good for him. You're the best version of yourself and you mustn't let someone like him tear you down."

"Thanks," I said while sulking, "for saying those words. Thanks for making me feel better." I replied.

"Now let's get away from this park. It's getting dark."

We walked away from the tragedy of me losing someone I cared about in silence.
