Chapter 1

ALEX POV:

I never was the one with the best luck when it came to love. The last time I was in a real relationship, he left me because I never wanted to have sex with him unless we're married. Tragedy. Tragedy is the only thing that surrounded me (Alex Harper)'s life.

I'm eighteen years old and it feels a bit too early to be experiencing a certain type of depression. To make things worse, high school was also taking it's toll on me. I guess that's just how life goes.

But why go through all this without any coping mechanism? Yesterday, I downloaded a popular app called "TipTop". It's a video-sharing platform where people post random videos of themselves while abiding to community guidelines. These so called "random" videos are often challenges like dance or transition challenges but that's besides the point.

The point was that I needed a coping mechanism - something to fill the empty void that I was feeling hourly and I believe this app could do it. A few minutes ago, I joined the app and put all necessary details including a bio (biography) with little details like my age and sexuality.

I looked through the trending videos and looked for a simple challenge that I can do to get a few likes and views to make me feel better about myself. I found one. A really simple one. One where all I had to do is lip sync to a song and use the face zoom effect to make me look like a child.

Once I did the challenge, I decided to dress up for class or I was gonna be late for first period like I usually am. I guess I wanted to change myself for the better.

After I uploaded the video, I walked over to my room's window and saw that the outside look a little dim with leaves travelling the air gently while being pushed by the breeze. The sun was nowhere to be seen, often covered by the clouds in this cold season. I pushed open the window and in came the cold. It was almost staggering, but it was essential for my room to have good ventilation.

I walked over to my bathroom, opened the shower door and turned the hot water knob. I undressed and entered she shower, feeling the warm water rush down my back. Minutes passed and I was out of the shower and drying myself. I did my morning routine and soon headed for the closet to pick out some clothes.

After I dressed up, I made sure to not leave my phone behind as I went for breakfast downstairs.

I met my dad downstairs. He was making himself breakfast.

"Hey, Alex. How was the night, buddy?" he asked me softly.

"Well, it could've been better. It's quite cold outside." I replied, almost monotonously.

"You'll get over it soon. You say this every year!"

We both chucked. A few seconds later, in walked my mom and younger brother, Derek.

"What are you two grandpas laughing at?" asked Derek.

So much for a normal greeting.

"Don't worry about them, Derek. They have their own thing. Let me go make you breakfast." said mom.

Our family has a weird dynamic but I like it the way it is.

After breakfast, I said goodbye to my parents and brother and made my way to school on my car. The high school I go to is called Lunar High and it's about a five minute drive from home.

It has been roughly an hour and thirty minutes since I woke up and I was happy I made it on time instead of sleeping through first period, as I usually do.

Suddenly, once I got out of my car, I was mobbed by a lot of girls and they were all holding their phones out. I couldn't really see what it was but all I could see is that thay were showing me my TipTop account. It was all so blurry.

"Hey, uh, guys... I'll have a look at my account soon."

"Omg, omg, omg" said one for them.

"you're famous omg" said another.

Famous?

A few seconds later, the people gave me space to breathe and I pulled out my phone to see what the fuss was all about. A few moments later, I opened TipTop.

My jaw dropped.

My little video got over a hundred thousand likes and over five hundred thousand views. I suddenly got a following of over fifty thousand.

I never expected this to happen.

As I walked through the school halls, everyone was looking at me and the stares wouldn't stop. A few moments later, I met my best friend Jake.

"Yo, how did that video go so viral?" he questioned.

"I literally have no idea... I posted it over an hour ago... how is this even possible?" I replied.

"It doesn't make sense but this is amazing news!" he exclaimed.

I let out a small, nervous chuckle. "I suppose so."

Me and Jake decided to go to homeroom as soon as possible before we're late.

During recess time, I opened my phone to an explosion of likes and comments. I sat down and replied to quite a number of them. A lot of them were funny and of course, there was the criticism that I ignored.

I decided to check on the "Reccomended" page and scrolled through and liked some interesting videos.

There was then one particular video of a really hot guy that caught my attention. He looked really amazing. I decided to look through if he had any more material and he had two more videos on his page that I viewed and liked.

I was utterly mesmerized by him and so I decided to reach out to him.

I sent a message saying, "Hey, my name is Brian. I really like your videos. They're really cool."

To my surprise, moments later, it showed that he was typing...
