Slaughterer's Ode To The Blade

A world of turmoil. This is the world of the great swordsmen. As the countries cross their blades to show their dominance in power, Their need for resources, Their want for more land, And the taste of freedom, The common people suffer. As they get swept by the war, their loved ones died, Their homes destroyed and their wills crushed by the reality that they can never avenge their suffering as long as they are the weakest, so long as they are kind and so long as they do not have the courage to stand up against their own fate! Noya Eiji is born in such a world. As a war orphan, he is picked up by one of the kindoms and is wondering over life on what to do and what to be, trying to survive day by day not wanting to be part of any of the conflicts between kingdoms, Because he still remembers what his mother's last words were " Be good boy who survives rather than become strong and be drowned by pain, suffering and darkness of the world!" ---- AN : This novel's MC is more on the passive side and while the MC is a bit OP, he wont be OP to the point of just destroying anybody, you might find the story to be boring so it totally fine to not like it, Although I hope otherwise. And also this image is not mine, I saw it on google, its from SOFAN COMICS in Pinterest.

Ch.56 Assassinations Department

A few days later.

It was now Wednesday.

Today was the day Eiji is supposed to go to the library where he would be joining the Assassinations Department.

After the Graduation day, Eiji was just at his new home now, training with his master.

He went to the orphanage once and gave them some of the money he had won in the tournament.

He would also go to the market where he heard some news about Herald and Ichiro.

The rumors went on about how the both of them broke through and became a Master level swordsman!

Eiji was surprised but wasn't shocked.

Herald had that overpowering feeling with him, while Ichiro had that calm and ethereal feeling with him.

Eiji didn't mind that those two became even more powerful or something like that, for him, being with his master and accomplishing what his missions would be in the future is more important for him.

---

Eiji, now in his nagagi and katana, with the brooch in his left chest, walked towards the library.

The time was now 10:31, just like what the letter had instructed.

This library was huge, it was accessible to both the civilian, the nobles as well as swordsmen.

But there were rooms and floors where only those given a special privilege can access.

Eiji went to the counter where a lady librarian was in checking the logs book and then counting the books in the counter.

"Uhhmm..."

"Hm? Yes? May I help you?!"

The lady stopped what she was doing then she smiled as she looked at Eiji.

Eiji looked down and said in a low voice.

"I- I am looking for the r-record of the black k..katana!"

The lady was shocked at Eiji's words and looked at him up and down.

It was hard to believe that this shy looking child was invited in that department!

"Oh! Oh! Okay! I know what you are looking for! Come with me!"

But as she was trained and a professional, she put all her thoughts in the back of her mind and walked in a door along with Eiji.

"Here!"

When the door was opened, Eiji saw a dark passage that stretched out from who knows where.

The passage can only fit one person in its width and the height was just above two meters.

Eiji looked at the lady sceptical.

"Haha! Well.. you just have to walk in this passage and you will arrive in your destination!"

Eiji nodded and walked.

The lady closed the door and everything went dark then.

*Bzzt!

Above, the ceiling had small crystal attached which emitted small light just enough for Eiji to see what's in front of him.

And so, Eiji walked.

-----

Eiji didn't know how long he had walked. Maybe an hour, maybe just a minute, or maybe for days.

But he just continued to walk.

Finally, Eiji saw the door at the end of the passage.

Eiji opened the door.

In the other side of the door was like an underground facility.

The light was just torches in the sides and even on the pillars.

The dancing of the flames made it look like the shadows were alive.

In this huge area Eiji saw three people.

Surprisingly, he saw Yami Marco and maybe unsurprisingly Hanzo Akai!

The other one was middle aged man in a black cloak.

He looked at them and smiled.

"Well, everyone's here on time! Good!

Welcome to the Assassinations Department!

I am the head of this Department, Hanzo Sadou!

And Yes! I am Akai's Father!"

Akai at the side nodded his head.

"Now, how about you introduce yourselves! Just Tell me what your good at, Akai you go first!"

*Sigh!

"I am Hanzo Akai, from the Hanzo Clan, and I am adept at quite a lot of sword techniques and especially at my Clan's blood sword power!"

Sadou nodded and then he looked at both Eiji and Marco.

"I- I'm Yami Marco! From the Yami Clan, And I am also good at many sword techniques as well as my own clan's Blood Sword Power."

At the end of Marco's words though, he slowed down as Akai looked at him. His words were really just the same as his, which made Akai feel like Marco was just copying him.

"Hehe!"

Marco could only laugh bitterly but what he said was just what he could think at the moment.

"Well.. how about you?!"

"Uhhmmm...I.. I'm Noya Eiji!... A... And I know the Quick Draw technique!.... But I don't have any Blood Sword Power though..."

"Hahah! It's fine even if you don't have one, being invited in this department means that you have what it takes to be an assassin! Besides, there are als many members here that doesn't have any blood sword powers or not from any clans! So don't worry about it!"

Commander Sadou just laughed at Eiji's words and then told him not to worry about it.

Eiji nodded.

"Well for now, let's get you guy's uniform as well as the few rules in this department, alright?!"

The three of them nodded and then followed Commander Sadou as he walked in on of the hallways.

*End Of Chapter.
