Shadow: King Of The Night & Ruler Of The Underworld

Betrayed and casted aside by his own family, Greg’s perfectly aligned life morphs into a literal joke. He ends up landing in a wealthy family, and assumes his life is finally back on track, but his life’s status only grew more pathetic, despite him having a wife now. There, he becomes the disgraceful son-in-law everyone despises. Greg gets humiliated on a daily basis by the wealthy people around him. Greg had lost all hope and was about to give up the ghost after one unfortunate circumstance, when heaven finally danced in his favor and a hand stretched out to him— in his long, lost relative who showed up from the blues and completely turned his life around. “You’re no longer the pathetic son-in-law, Greg. You’d now be known as Shadows, King of the night and ruler of the world. Everyone would either bow at your feet or be sent six feet under!” Greg’s time is finally here. Alas, he’s on top of the world, and this time, he’d stop at nothing till every single person who had wronged him, is bowing at his feet.

Warnings

All of them exchanged glances as the butler knew his words were sinking into their heads. They had to know what they were signing up for because it was not going to be as easy as they had earlier thought.

"These men have been in this game longer than you have. They have men who work in the h ground for them and it would be almost impossible for you as a team to defeat them.

"Almost impossible being the keyword here but I can tell you that you can defeat them. Work as a team and you would be able to achieve whatever you set your mind to. There is no need to panic.

"Although I have said all of this to motivate you, I do have to warn you about the old men and women of the board. They are strong and have strong backings. They all have been beneficial to the growth of this company.

"They have been helpful to building this company and if any of you deal with them without care and restraint it could cause a major backlash to the company which as you all know is not good. So you all should be very careful about it.

"Also, I know some of you might be thinking of rash things like, 'Why can't we just get rid of them without causing all of this commotion?'. Dominic, do you want to explain to the team why that would be impossible?"

Dominic stood to his feet, his stocky height almost being laughable with the speed he used in standing up.

"Most of the board members are elite members of the underground mobs and gangs. They have been in the game for years and they have ranks that even I can't touch. Their connections are enviable and they are seemingly untouchable.

"This means that taking them out with brute force is not possible due to the numbers of people working for them."

"That's a nice way to put it," Carl waved the bull to take a seat as he pointed to the accountant. "Now I'll get back to you in just a second, I'm still briefing everyone."

Victor nodded before the butler commenced.

"The integrity of this group is being held by everyone in here. It means that whatever you do is being monitored by your enemies waiting to use it against you. I would desist any ignorant show of public force if I were you.

"You work for Greg now. Being disrespectful outside reflects badly on him and he cannot win with everyone bringing out reasons for why they don't think he can spearhead the organization.

"This means that you would have to be very careful with how you act around the board and around the general public. I don't want to get any complaints about any of you. That includes you two muscle heads and your fights."

"I'm not…" Kieran tried to defend himself as the butler hushed him.

"I wasn't asking you to talk. If you and Dominic keep going at it, it would leave a stain on Greg's reputation. I don't want that happening for any reason at all. Have I made myself clear?"

"Yes," Dominic and Kieran answered with mutters.

"As for the rest of you, be careful and mindful of what you say in public. The works of the company stays in the company. Don't go out drinking and forgetting that you have an important role to play. Now back to what I wanted to say before.

"You all have been given the sum of a million dollars each and these funds would be managed by Victor."

Everyone around gasped at the amount of money given to them as they had not even done anything yet and they were being paid for it.

"Don't squander it on useless things. It was given to you for the mission you all are about to go through. Victor would show me the receipts of your purchases from time to time so I'll be watching. Don't think I won't be doing that because I will.

"Now, this is where I would leave you all and go back home because I am on a mission. I've got to find out the bad people that need weeding out and if I see any that you all can handle I will send the names and pictures with their infos to Isabella.

"She would be in charge of all of that. You all should get ready to work and do a neat job at it. You weren't brought here to party and have fun. You were brought here to work.

"And like I've said before, be very conscious of what you do because whatever you're doing is going to affect the image of the company so you all had better be careful.

"Almost forgot to tell you that in one week's time, Greg would be announced as the CEO of the core company in Hudson's corporation. This would raise suspicions within the company and these so called people we are supposed to fight would attack.

"They would attack with everything they have in their arsenal and they would surely be the first to try to get Greg away from the seat with whatever means necessary.

"I'm sure you know what this means. It means they could be violent and try to use threats or bring up his past or kill him or kidnap him or anything. What they are capable of doing is limitless so we all have to be ready?"

Greg gulped when he heard this. This was not what he had in mind when he had wanted to join his uncle. Being killed or kidnapped for the seat was something he had not seen coming.

He promised himself to be on alert from now onwards to avoid being caught off guard.

After all, he had lived in the worst parts of town with the worst set of people around him, he was confident he could survive with or without the help of his teammates.
