Heads-Up

"Alright you mutts, settle down," announced Carl as everyone suddenly quieted down, settling into their seats to look at him with respect. He was the closest thing to Hudson's authority they had around the company.

He was not to be played with. His authority was also absolute just like Hudson for the man had earned his place at the top.

The reason Carl knew Hudson had chosen Greg was to exert vengeance on those who had mistreated him in the past. If there were any other reasons, the butler was definitely not aware of them for this was as far as he knew.

"Now, I know I've only given you all a brief explanation of why I've brought you all here but I'll be giving an elongated version now so please do listen carefully."

Carl's voice echoed in the office which was extremely quiet. It was almost comparable to a graveyard.

"Now, I know that everyone in this room has lost one thing or the other and I could name them out but I will not for confidentiality's sake.

"From ego bruising to being pushed out of a previous company to having your ideas stolen, you all have gone through the worst treatments possible and I do commend you for your resilience.

"However, I should also let you know that Greg here has lost more than everyone in this room. I don't mean to pick sides here but he's had a rough couple of years and it hasn't been easy for him.

"Some of you are lucky to be born rich and live in the riches, the rest of you are lucky to have been respected in your workplace, however, that had not been the case with this man here. Now I want to make this very clear to everyone in this room.

"Greg here is the pillar of this group and he is the only one holding this group together. Without him, this meeting would be null and void and to be fair I don't even know what most of you are doing here anyway.

"The only people I can see working for this company would be the accountant and the secretary as they are still needed in every area of the company.

"Now as for the rest of you, you would either be sent to the subsidiaries or you won't even be considered at all. I don't want to shade anyone.

"I just want to let you know your place here and let you know that in this story, Greg is the main character. Have I made myself clear?"

"Yes," they all replied with clear voices as the butler took it as a sign to go on with his words.

"Now, I'll introduce Greg to you all for those who still don't know him. He is the heir to the throne and the closest relative to Hudson. He is the one who would climb the throne and be in charge of everything.

"I had to explain it this way so you would know that he is not a slave and he is not to be treated like one. He is the heir to the company so you all had better watch how you act around him. A disrespect to him is a disrespect to me and to Hudson. Have I made myself clear again?"

"Yes, sir," they echoed.

However, Greg knew when they were answering for the sake of publicity. He knew when he was not wanted and he did not want to come off as someone who would complain on his first day so he planned to keep everything under wraps until he could find a right way to fix it.

This was what part of him wanted, but his other part wanted him to be a different person. To be able to speak up for himself which he did not know if he could do.

He looked around the room at their smiling faces and concluded that there was no way anyone in the room would hurt him in any way. They were all nice to him.

They had all introduced themselves and they had all joked with him, there was no reason for them to be mean.

But he was going to find out the hard way that the world did not work that way. He was going to find out that the advice the butler had given him earlier was what he needed to listen to and live by.

"Now, he will be your boss and be in charge of the operations here," the butler went on to say to them. "Now yes I have mentioned countless times that Greg is the heir and all of that but even at that, he would not be taking the company… not yet anyway.

"Instead he would need to prove himself worthy of his title and his position.

"Now as you all know, we have the board of directors who have their corrupt fingers deeply rooted in this corporation and because they want to reap where they did not sow, they brought up that rule to have the heir tested.

"They believe he is a phony and he is not worthy of his title, we are all going to prove them wrong. Greg would need to prove to everyone that he can do this and after that, his real battle would begin. We would need to start the battles from inside the companies.

"This would mean that the old and rotten board of directors who stole from the company and covet the company shares would be uprooted.

"But it isn't going to be easy because no matter how strong and smart and intelligent and effective you think you are, these old bastards are ten times more than you.

"They are ruthless and they would not hesitate to use their full power against you. It means that you have to bring your A-game to the table. You have to make sure your skills are what would set you apart from the others."
