"I told you to stay away from her!" Maddy yelled at the person standing in front of her.
With a bouquet of peonies in his hands, Max stood in front of us.
He peeled his eyes away from me and looked at Maddy, his feet advancing towards her. "As much as I still want to talk to you Sky, I'm here for you, Madison."
He stopped at the foot of her bed.
Maddy was glaring at him with furrowed eyebrows. "Go away, Max. You can't be here. Skylar doesn't want to see you and to be honest, I'm not a fan of you either."
"I'm not here to cause trouble--"
Maddy snorted. "Hah. I don't think that's ever going to be true with you."
"Why are you here?" I finally spoke. I tried to make my voice come out as calm and detached but the sight of him was making me furious.
Max looked at me and I kept my eyes from looking into his. I stared at the half-open window behind his head.
