Team…

Ren, despite the recent assassination attempt, he didn't feel in a hurry. So he was leisurely taking his time on the walk to Ichiraku. As he was walking into Ichiraku he could only think, time to meet the team.

" You're late. Extremely late."

Without looking up a white haired man immediately chastised him the moment he walked in.

The curious bit was that everyone in Ichiraku had a strange expression on their face. Everyone's looking at him like he's some loon. Teuchi also looks like someone kicked his puppy. Uhhh did he say that to everyone who walked in? Surely not right?

" I'm sorry sir, are you my jonin instructor?"

The seated man simply nodded and continued to eat. The two men sitting next to him half turned to look at me.

" Oh so he's finally the one!"

" Hmm a fan of my teacher I see."

Soon the three men fully turned around and faced me.

" A pleasure to meet you young man I'm Maruboshi Kosuke. Genin."

" I young friend am the spirit of youth, Might Duy! … also Genin."

Weird but acceptable. Looking at the last guy though I had the dumbest look in my life. Madara could show up and I wouldn't be shocked anymore. Hopefully I managed to hide it well.

" (mutters) I guess we'll handle your tardiness later….Hatake Sakumo. Jonin, and your new Sensei."

Damn it! Was Hiruzen trying to paint a target on my head? This guy was a legend! Wait he won't truly shine until the war starts… he's still him though so he should be kage level.

" Umm Senju Ren. Genin. Current victim of an assassination attempt?"

All three " WHAT!?"

" Yeah….so do I just hand you the corpses Sensei? or do I go straight to the Hokage? Or maybe my father in law? Wait we have the police… is this their jurisdiction?"

All thinking [This kids not right in the head…]

" Before we do anything, I want to make clear if this is just an excuse for your tardiness or some silly prank… you'll wish you were assassinated."

Duy and Kosuke thought [ You would be more intimidating if you didn't have ramen broth all over your face.]

" Uh no it's definitely real Sensei I assure you….Teuchi two ramens to go. (Looking at Sakumo) seems you really outdid yourself today."

All thinking [This kids definitely not right in the head…]

" Ahem let's go to the Hokage immediately. We have to report this as soon as possible."

As the team was speeding to the Hokages office they couldn't help but stare oddly at Ren. He was chugging down his Ramen… it's not like the Akimichi wouldn't do something similar but you would think they were starved compared to Ren.

Soon the team arrived at Village headquarters. Ren had actually seemed conflicted for a while but ended up eating half of the other order of ramen.

After a wait they were given permission and the team walked into the Hokage's office. Ready to make their report.

Hiruzen was a little worried about this meeting, the kid didn't seem to happy about being told he was always going to be a genin. So when he was told Sakumo came in to make a report, he silently wondered if Ren had caused some form of trouble. While Ren wasn't a bad kid he had an odd sense of humor. Quite frankly the kid was a little petty and liked to play the fool when convenient to him.

Looking up from his desk to the slowly walking in team, he thought he was right. They all had a weird look on their faces. He'd have to reschedule Rens test it seems.

" Hey old man. Mission failed. It's not on me though you likely couldn't stop the leak. Here's some ramen so you don't feel that bad about this."

" Ren don't speak to the Hokage like that!"

" It's fine Sakumo. Believe it or not he's improved a lot since he was younger. So go ahead and report Ren."

Taking out a storage scroll Ren unsealed three corpses and recounted the events. He also did mention the would be assailants claimed to be from Kumo but they already knew about his secret jutsu. Then with a look that said I am the smartest man alive, he proudly declared we had a mole! Well sorry Ren, I'm going to have to ruin your little achievement.

" Very well done Ren you reported factually and didn't try to cover your failure to eliminate that escaping shinobi. I genuinely thought you missed the test, not that you would succeed in such a short time.

Don't look so confused Ren. I ordered for a group of criminals to be released under Roots supervision to test you. I had to make sure how you'd react and what you'd do in such a situation.

Now while you did well, I am quite disappointed you decided to deal with the situation yourself instead of seeking aid or finding your team. Remember while your jutsu are great they are not invincible. There is no jutsu without a weakness. Never forget that.

Regardless congratulations seems you passed your final test."

" Uhhhh well ok." [Yeah Hiruzens trying to kill me…letting Danzo supervise such a test. Like come on.]

" Now that you're all here. I will provide your first mission as is our custom. Then explain what is expected and required of your team."

" Your first mission is a C rank mission. You are to find the creator of some counterfeit Ryo that were found in Konoha.

You are not actually expected to complete it. It's really more to show the Daimyo we're committed to providing manpower to his most valued mission."

" Understood lord Hokage."

" Relax. Now what is really expected from this team is to train Ren.

Might Duy, while you are not the strongest of ninja for your age, you are a specialist in taijutsu. You are to help train Ren as it's his primary form of combat.

Maruboshi Kosuke, as the student of the second Hokage you learned a lot of his water jutsu and other techniques. Like you Kosuke, Ren has a water affinity and you two can exchange information.

As for you Sakumo any techniques in the art of killing you can teach the boy would be appreciated. Naturally nothing the Hatake clan is unwilling to release.

Last but not least be aware this team will never take the chuunin exams. As you will likely find out Ren is a unique individual for Konoha. No matter the cost he must remain a mystery to other nations. Is all this understood? If you wish to be dismissed from the team please let me know."

Kosuke and Sakumo immediately agreed. Of the people in the room only Duy had a complicated look but eventually he agreed as well.

" Very well then. I formally announce the formation of Team Sakumo. Better known as team Eternal Genin!"
