First Contact

As Ren was off to find his team, he was cheery to find the location in the scroll was Ichiraku Ramen. With a little pep in his step he happily accepted he would stay a genin!

No. Not really. What moron would think that. The Ichiraku part was true but I wasn't Naruto and couldn't just eat Ramen daily.

My life in the world of Naruto had been pretty boring so far and I was a little conflicted about that. To the point I was actually looking forward to being a real ninja lately.

On the one hand I had a stunner for a wife, wealth for several generations, and I'm more or less invincible. Well invincible is a stretch but I'm not some dumb ass, if I couldn't win I would run. The point is overall I was living the easy life.

On the other hand, I was also growing bored of this life. I couldn't spend too much time with Tsunade since she was an active ninja. My only friend was my brother in law, an academy student. I trained endlessly but never actually fought anyone.

I thought the solution to this problem would be the ninja life. I was really banking on this. Now though I was an eternal genin. I'd never leave the village and would most likely just be an errand boy for the next 3 years. 3 freaking years!

No this won't do. I was hesitant to change the timeline at all with Grandma Mito around but she would kick the bucket soon. As long as Naruto and Sasuke existed and did the whole save the world thing she can't complain too much. Right? On that note he had to inform her he could produce perfect corpses so she would save his family members.

Crap stray thoughts go away. Huh whose this guy?

" Hello lord Senju I'm here to escort you to your Ninja team, they have decided to change locations to the Forest of Death."

" Oh? Lead the way then…Umm… random guy?"

" My name is Soru my lord."

" Can you stop the lord stuff? it's creepy especially from some random guy."

" Very well then."

As soon as we arrived in the forest of death. There was three other ninja waiting for us.

They all said "Welcome to the team Ren!"

Interesting. I wonder if my new team mates are ok, these guys are pretty committed to tricking me until the end it seems.

I immediately stopped several feet away from them. Then turning to "Soru" I strengthened the muscles in my hand through Hydrification and pierced my arm straight through his chest.

"….Lord Senju!…Why?"

" Seriously random guy still with the lord crap?Make better choices in the next life, ok."

My so called team mates immediately threw kunai at me. Then as the kunai phased through my body they seemed confused.

Pulling my gourd from my side I start casually sipping water.

" You should all be chuunin but not one of you researched me before trying to kill me? No?"

Slowly stepping forward I throw a kunai on the ground and throw a handful of kunai at my enemies. I specifically make sure one kunai goes right down the middle between them. Then as it's between two of them, I appear grab my kunai from mid air and stab the idiot on the left through the head.

One of them seemed to have immediately retreated out of sight. His other buddy though sees the opening and sticks an explosion tag on me and jumping back immediately activates it. Soon it causes a small but powerful explosion. The ensuing dust cloud covers the assassins vision.

" Wow you guys didn't skimp out at least."

I'm now standing next to him. I really wonder if people just thought I wouldn't thunder god everywhere. This seems too simple. Point is it's no fun. Gripping him by his head I use Hydrification and create a water dome. Water boarding before getting intel may seem counter productive but it's my version of establishing dominance.

As he squirms in my hand I trigger my Byakugan and seal his tenketsu. " Now buddy I'll stop giving you a drink if you tell me who sent you ok?"

As soon as I let go he merely laughed at me and gave me a bear hug.

" I don't swing that way buddy…"

With my Byakugan I realized I couldn't see the kunai I threw down at the start. Furthermore I just noticed we were now inside a barrier Fuinjutsu. This barrier was made to counter the Byakugan it seems. Well I got lucky and that first Kunai is outside it's area.

" Kumogakure sends its regards Lord Senju."

Then the asshole smiled as the entire ground within the barrier started exploding.

Naturally I used thunder god to that first kunai I had thrown down. As I arrived though I noticed something wrong, the kunai was surrounded by explosive tags too. Well shit.

I immediately used Hydrification on my whole body.

While I was being blown up I looked around with my Byakugan. Son of a bitch. That third asshole already ran away.

After the explosions were over I simply used Restoration load on my self with my usual morning save of the day. I also had to restore my clothes and gourd.

Well this is embarrassing I was supposed to walk in and out like a badass.

Anyways I'm pretty sure Danzo just tried to kill me. That last little trap suggests the assassins knew what to look for with flying thunder god. Apart from the Senju family, the Hokage, and the Hokages Anbu there wasn't anyone other than Danzo that knew about the flying thunder god. Wait the Hyuga know too. They don't have any reason to try to kill me though. I think.

Actually if it was Danzo, the so called big bad behind the scenes, he was more likely to kidnap him or try to manipulate him. Right that mr boom boom there was claiming to be from Kumo. Was that the big manipulation? What idiot would believe that though. I really can't think of anyone other Danzo doing this but it doesn't seem right.

Doesn't matter though seems like I won't be bored anymore.

(Back in Root headquarters)

" Lord Danzo the squad failed. We were unable to gain a full understanding of the boy known as Senju Ren.

The initial findings suggest he is wildly over confident, has no overall sense of caution, but is strong enough to carry such arrogance.

He willingly walked into the trap. Dispatched our agents without hesitation and efficiency, but immediately relaxed when he had the upper hand.

Unlike members of the Hyuga he doesn't seem to favor the use of his Byakugan. He primarily relies on taijutsu and Kunai for offense, some form of water transformation for defense, and the flying thunder god for movement.

This is all the information I was able to gather before the rest of the squad died. I would say he is a kage level threat strategically and a mid chuunin physically. Without disabling the flying thunder god and his water transformation it is unlikely we could eliminate him."

Danzo was than handed a report with full observations of the operation from start to finish.

"Hmm understood. Leave me."

He thought he would really manage to kill the kid in this first sortie. The boy really is not so simple.

Contrary to what he was just told the boy is definitely cautious. He never allowed the contacting agent within arms reach, and killed him upon arrival to the forest. Then the boy immediately closed the distance to the remaining agents not allowing for traps. In his little theatrics he was most likely scanning the area, not just showing off. The fact he even learned how to use the Hydrification technique showed the boy was cautious. Seems his agents need more training.

The boy was not a perfect ninja but he'd definitely become someone who could shake the five nations with more time and experience.

A normal method of assassination won't work with this one. He'd have to get a little more creative.
