Ch. 30 Hestia iv

Pov.

-Rhea-

"Idiot!" I smash my phone on the floor

"C'mon" I pull Hestia out out of the bathroom

"Wait mommy, look" she points at the tv

"Local PD have confirmed the identity of one of the reckless drivers, Amaterasu Kara the youngest son of The First" the news reporter says as they film Kara's Silva chasing the Evo from above

"Is-is that daddy?" Hestia asks

"It's okay babe" I pull her away from the tv, hoping no one heard

After a couple of minutes the patroler that was right behind Kara crashes into a semi then Kara finally catches up to the Evo sending the two of them stumbling across the Freeway

"Daddy no!" Hestia cries

"C'mere babe" I pull her back

"N-no not daddy" she cries

"H-he's going to be fine, okay mama?" I carry her out to my e36

"I'm scared mommy I don't want daddy to die" she sobs

"I-I know me too, babe" I tear up "he's going to be fine. He promised, remember?" I strap her into her chair

"I-I'm scared" she sniffs

"Don't be, we'll see daddy tomorrow" my voice trembles "I promise, okay?"

"O-okay m-mommy" I wipe her little nose

Pov.

-Kara-

…

I open my eyes

There was this little thread attached to my wrist

I look down

From the looks of it, it's the only thing keeping me from falling deeper into the abyss

"KGHK" I hear an echo coming from below

"I RAISED YOU AS MY OWN AND THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME?!" the voice alone shakes the infinite void of darkness

I carefully grab onto the thread, hoping it wouldn't snap

After the rumbling finishes I began pulling myself up

I kept climbing and climbing and climbing and climbing

It felt like I wasn't getting any closer to the top

Even so I kept going

I mean getting there was the only thought on my mind

I don't know why I had to

Or what is waiting for me at the top

I just kept climbing

I didn't have any knowledge about anything besides these odd words and phrases traveling across my mind

But then I felt like none of it mattered for some strange reason

I climbed for an eternity

I just kept going and going up until I finally reached the top

I had no clue why I even climbed up here but I just did

It probably would've been easier to just let myself fall but the thought of giving up never crossed my mind

I grab onto the edge with my left hand and then with my right before I pull myself up

The moment I do I found myself gasping for air almost as if I had been drowning in water

"Haha, hey I did it!" I hear

Hisoka?

I turn around

I haven't seen the guy in years

"So we're both dead, huh?" I sogh

"You bet your ass we are." He smiles

"You are not dead. Cronus had him do his dirty work, throughout the years" I hear someone else

A cloud of steam slowly forms behind Hisoka, revealing the man I've long since wanted to speak to

"Oceanus…" I gulp

"Yeah it's whatever though" Hisoka leans on a boulder

"Anyways, Kara." Oceanus clears his throat "Hisoka here was sent to make sure you weren't to make it out alive" he says

"Yeah but I'm in it for the money" Hisoka yawns "your lucky Oceanus was willing to pay a tad bit more than that oaf"

"F-for what?" I ask, wondering what the hell he wanted me dead for

Is it because he found Hestia's mine?

"Cronus barely pays any mind to his offspring, your little Heatia is in no danger" Oceanus says

Damn Oceanus knew huh

"What's all this about then?" I ask again

"Your time has come, Kara. Long ago we came to an agreement with Ignia that you were to rise to the throne the moment you turned 13 if he wasn't to be present"

"M-me? Y-you mean like King?"

"Yes, many people acknowledge the fact that having you as king will be much better for Gaia than to keep someone like Cronus in power" he explains

"Oh…" that makes sense

But…

Why would Ignia want to leave me in charge?

"Long ago Ignia said Cronus was no different than our father. I truly believed that comment was out of line, but now with the way things are going, how he betrayed our brother.. I'm not sure what to believe anymore"

"Then what? Why wait so long?"

"I gave you time, enough to watch your daughter grow and to enter the early stages of your adulthood, at the very least" he says

"Wh-what?" I ask

He sighs

"Kara… you're a saiyan" he says "a creature solely built for battle. Grant one such as yourself immortality and the limitations that bound any and all living thing are shattered"

"I… n-no way I can't" I back up

He's crazy

There's no way someone like me can come close to Cronus

To… Ignia

"You are our only hope, Kara. Starting today you will begin your training on Gaia below. You must survive or this entire thing is pointless"

"S-survive? You're just going to leave me down there a-and hope I don't get annihilated? I haven't trained in over two thousand years I-I-"

"Ignia swore you would succeed him" he cuts me off

"I-I know b-but…"

"Do you not trust his judgement?"

"I didn't say that"

"Then how will such a pathetic creature like yourself ever hold a prayer against Cronus?"

"I-I can't, that's what I'm trying to-"

"Yet…" he sighs "if you won't do it for yourself, you must believe in his judgment. Honor Ignias memory by doing whatever you can to grow stronger"

Ignia…

Is it true?

Do you really believe I can do this?

"Now, grow stronger. Before Cronus leads us into great ruin"

"G-great ruin?" I ask as he raises his hand to my chest

"If you can not survive this fall there's no point in relying all our hopes on you now" he says

"Fall?" I ask

"Fall?" Hisoka does as welly

"So survive" Oceanus adds

"I…" I was about to protest when I felt his energy slam onto my chest, sending me over the edge

"Gahha" I gasp for air

I watch as Hisoka waves down at me beside Oceanus who was watching me fall

"Fuck" I can't breath

After a few seconds I manage to turn around

"Fuck fuck fuck" I could see the ground below getting closer and closer

Only it wasn't that weird sky island as before

It was Gaia itself

I'll die for sure if I don't do something

"Fuck" I open my arms

I could very slowly but surely feel myself slowing down

I squeeze my eyes shut

But even before I knew it I slammed into the ground

Pov.

-Rhea-

Authorities pronounced him dead the following morning

"Kara…"

You idiot..

You actually…

I clench my fists

"Morning mommy" Hestia yawns

I quickly turn the radio off before she could hear

"Morning? The sun isn't out yet" I smile

"Aww" she frowns

"Can we go see daddy?" She stretches

Of course it's the first thing she'd ask

"Daddy's resting, I'm sure he won't wake up for a while baby" I wipe her face

It had gotten dirty from crying herself to sleep last night

"Oh… Is-is he okay ?" She asks

"I'm sure he'll be" I lie to my little angel hoping to save her from this pain as long as I can

"The sun isn't out yet… So sleep, okay babe?" I lay back down with her in my arms

"O-okay… " she tears up

"Night mommy" she whispers

"Night baby" I pull her in

-Kara-

"Mgh. H-Hest-." I groan

I slowly sit up

Fuck

What the hell?

My head is pounding and I was laying inside a crater

I slowly crawl out

My body is sore

I scratch my head

I walked around for a couple of minutes before I came across a wall

There were people in line trying to get through

I follow their lead and I get in line

After a couple of minutes it was my turn

"Proof of citizenship?" he says without bothering to look up at me

"Citizenship?" I reach into my pocket hoping I'd find something

But no

Nothing..

"I-I"

"No?" He asks "may I have your name? Birth place?"

"N-name?" I ask

My..

My name..

After not hearing an answer he raises his head

His eyes widen

I take a step back

"Wh-what the hell are you?"

I look at my arms

They were covered in a blood red fur

I set a hand on my chest

It felt caved in

I checked to see what it was..

It looked like deep claw markings

Three of them slashed across my chest

When did that happen?

"It's a devil, it has to be" a woman behind me says

"Wh-what? Me?" I ask

What the hell is going on?

How'd I get here? Why can't I…

"Yeah! He looks just like him!" Another shouts before somone slams me onto the ground

"What's going on?!" I try fighting back but their knee digs into my shoulder

"Agh*" I gasp

One of them yanks my hair back as they pulled me up on my feet

-3 days later-

"I-I don't know" I grumble

"Why do you keep saying that?! We know you're lying!"

"Cause I don't!" I growl before their whip slams on my abdomen

"Agh*" I gasp painfully

"Kghk*" I grit my teeth

How dare you

I'll kill you

All of you

"Kghkk*" I choke

"Enough!" Someone shouts

"C-captain" they drop their whips

"We we're just teaching him a lesson sir"

"He is of no use to us dead, now out. All of you" he says

"Y-yes sir" they quickly do as he says

After a couple minutes of silence he walks up to me

"How'd you escape your prison?" He asks the same question everyone else has been asking me

"I-I didn't, all I remember is waking up a-and then being brought here.." I huff

"What is your name?" He asks

"M-my name?" I ask

…

What is it?

Why can't I remember?

"Must've suffered a serious injury to the head" he says

"M-maybe but why am I in here? What did I do?"

…

"Akuma.. Amaterasu… Kara" he says "does that name ring a bell?" He asks

"Y-yeah… actually.. yeah, that's my name.." I finally remember

"Is it?" He raises an eyebrow

"C-can you tell me? Where am I, exactly?" I ask

"Hmh" he cracks a smile as if thinking I was joking

"Y-you mean you really don't know?" He asks

"I-I don't"

"Oh?" He raised his eyebrows "well, guess I'll be the first to welcome you then" he opens his arms "welcome, to the great Marleyan Empire" he smiles

"M-Marley?"
