The broken family and the rise of Talos industries

Atlas,

In a large facility that housed state of the art equipment, a young man of 15 years of age can be seen walking through the halls accompanied by two men wearing lab coats.

"Dr.Pietro, how long till we have an operational prototype?" he asked the old man by his side who replied.

"The prototype for the new type-88 drones should be ready in a few days, as for a functional nuclear reactor, it is already complete" the man replied as a rarely seen excitement leaked into his voice.

Pietro Polendina had a lot of curiosity towards the young man in front of him, while all of his peers were either trying to become hunters or huntresses to become famous, this boy had instead decided to safeguard humanity in a different manner by creating a state of the art weaponry that would cause anyone to go green with envy, but the thing that intrigued him the most were the utterly insane ideas that this boy came up with all the time, and the shaking thing was that most of the time, these ideas actually bore fruit.

One such example was exactly the nuclear reactor idea that he came up with. Although the idea was sound, there never were those who actually tried to harness the power of such a volatile process of nuclear fission, much less the fusion which this boy of 15 years old had theorized. besides, with dust being a relatively cheap and easily available source of power, this kind of method for power generation was deemed not worth it.

"Good, if this prototype functions within the acceptable parameters, then we can proceed to the next step," Alex said as Polendina looked at him with some hesitance before speaking.

"It's not that I am questioning you, Alex, because I know very well that everything you have produced till now are all thing that has progressed Atlas decades in terms of technological prowess, but I must still ask why you are looking for such a dangerous power source while we have Dust which is much more efficient for such purposes?"

"Dr. Polendina, tell me, is Dust completely safe? without any chance of causing harm to the wielder?" he asked as the scientist fell silent.

"Your silence gives me the answer, even though you may think that Dust is a perfect power source, you must not forget that they are a non-renewable energy source, meaning that one day, we will run out of dust. then tell me, doctor, what happens when we run out of dust and we don't have an alternative energy source by that time?" Alex asked but did not give the old man the time to respond before he continued speaking.

"Of course, the possibility of this happening is many centuries in the future, but I personally feel that humanity should not be solely dependent on Dust to advance our civilization, as we all know, overspecialization and overreliance is never a good thing but as far as I can see, today's society no matter at what level, is always dependent of Dust, that is why I want to change that, i want to give humanity a fighting chance where we no longer need to send our own people out to the front lines to die against the Grimm, but instead, we will be using our superior technology to end them from a long distance, and in case that they do get too close, we will have the Droids waiting for them" Alex finished as he walked into a gigantic underground facility where a big construct made of a type Titanium-Carbon fiber alloy.

This type of Alloy was something that the people of Remnant had never seen before and the only one who knew that process of its creation was Alex and Dr. Polendina. this shell was only the cover to keep the radiation from the Hydrogen-powered nuclear fusion from leaking out.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

(Alex POV)

After walking into the room with the prototype fusion device and sighed softly as he watched Dr. Polendina and the rest of the team start preparing for a sustained Nuclear Fusion.

how Ironic that the new power source that he was about to introduce into this world came from his archenemies from his previous life.

It had been an entire year since he had been reborn into this world and he had made many achievements which had caused all of the kingdoms to take great interest in his company, he even shared a special contract with the Atlas military where he would provide them with state of the art machines and weapons, while in return, he would be given a certain level of clearance with everything that was concerned with the Atlas military. This kind of security clearance was what enabled him to meet Dr.Polendina in the first place where the two men clicked and started to work together.

After learning that Dr.Polendina was working on creating an Android with a 'Soul', Alex immediately decided to forward a proposal to the Atlasian military where he would provide them with a new form of combat drone in exchange for Dr.Polendina working with Talos Industries as a consultant, this proposal was easily accepted by General Ironwood who immediately informed Dr.Polendina.

It was thanks to this collaboration that the Type-88 Attack Drones were created.

The Droids were humanoid machines that were made from a strange form of Tungsten that he had found in this world. The locals called this metal 'Anti-Dust Steel'. this metal was usually ignored and almost never mined because of the thing resistance it has to any and all type of Dust, although there were a few experiments conducted by the Atlas military to truly and use the metal to create a form of dust-resistant armor, the experiments failed due to the high cost it took to refine the metal. But when Alex found out that this metal was relatively cheap and almost no one wanted it, he immediately bought out all the mines of this metal from the kingdom.

After obtaining the metal mines, he formulated a method to refine the metal in an easier way with the usage of a high amount of Fire dust crystals and by using a secret catalyst that no one knew of but himself.

The result was a metal that could practically ignore any form of dust weaponry thanks to its high tensile strength and sufficient elasticity to cushion the power of the attack. Alex used this metal to create the Type-88 Drones.

Thanks to this metal, the drones were now much more durable and were much more powerful than any of the previous drones in service. These drones were currently being powered by a Lithium-ion battery pack combined with a backup Lithium-polymer battery, But if today's experiment success, then they will soon be replaced with a new form of power source that would stun everyone in the world.

These batteries were used to power the Drone for a long time. The drones were also equipped with a new form of a chain gun created by Alex. This chaingun was much superior to that of any other weapon on Remnant.

During the last year, Alex had soon found out that the usage of Dust for ammunition and guns was a wrong move by the denizens of this world. While these weapons had a high rate of fire and allowed for a varied ammunition choice, they could not even begin to compare to their counterparts on his homeworld in terms of firepower or penetration power. Due to this, he decided to create a new form of a gun that used the traditional chemical propellant while using the metals of this world to create a better weapon. Of course, just like every other project he started after reincarnation, this weapon was immediately classified as top secret by Ironwood and the rest of the Atlas council who immediately warned him not to sell these weapons due to the extreme danger that they posed.

A powerful hum from the fusion device immediately took Alex out of his thoughts, he watched as the very first Nuclear reactor of this world came to life.

"Positive power output detected, output increasing, output stabilizing at 400 MegaWatts, sustained reaction achieved!!" shouted one of the scientists as everyone cheered, celebrating at their first successful test.

"Great Oum, that kind of power output is almost ten times more than anything that even the biggest of our dust reactor produces, furthermore, its compact size allows for a great many applications!!" Dr. Polendina said with awe clear in his voice, however, even though Alex himself was also happy with the success, he did not lose his composure before he said words that jolted Dr. Polendina to his core.

"Prepare for phase 2" hearing these words was enough to wake up all of the scientist s from their happiness as they immediately scurried off to turn off the reactor and proceed to carry out Alex's orders.

"Alex, do we really need to prepare Phase-2?" Dr. Polendina asked to which Alex replied.

"I know that you are reluctant to convert such a promising source of power that would be a beacon for humanity into a weapon, but we have no choice. Before humanity can prosper, it must survive first and foremost, for that to happen, we need weapons, but you know as well as me that the Kingdoms of the world, especially Ozpin, would not agree to this what we are about to do, that is why we must do this in secret" he said as he started to walk towards another elevator as Polendina followed him.

The elevator proceeded to take them down into the earth even more, soon stopping at a massive hanger and laboratory where most of the work of phase-2 was carried out. the facility was hidden at such depth that if one were to dig another kilometer or two deeper, they would directly come out of the floating city and directly fall to the ground that was hundreds of meters deep.

Alex had created this facility so that he could develop weapons and machines from his old world and create his own private robot army.

After all, he knew for a fact that if Ironwood, or worse, Ozpin, knew that he was creating weapons of mass destruction capable of destroying cities at a time, they would immediately do everything to stop him.

He had already come to understand what kind of a man Ozpin was and knew that he would never have a peaceful relation with this man. He was too much of a pacifist for his liking.

"How goes the new Jet prototype-" before he could continue speaking, his scroll rang in his poker, taking it out of the pocket showed the caller id.

"Sigh, excuse me for a minute," he said as he went towards the elevator before he answered the call.

"What is it, Weiss?"

'Alex, can you help me with the work I got from the academy?'

"Sigh, Weiss, you should know by now that I will not help with your homework-"

'It's not homework!!, I need your help in creating a weapon'

"...And why are you trying to create a weapon again?"

'I am going to become a Huntress, I have decided and no one will change my mind!!!' She shouted, feeling that if she gave him time to talk, he will try to dissuade her from becoming a huntress, just like their father.

"....Okay, what do you have in mind?" Alex smiled lightly as he heard Weiss cheer on the other side in happiness.

Honestly, in this world, the only person he felt any kind of attachment with would be his little sister Weiss. This girl was only two years younger than himself and was always trying to be cheerful, even though the circumstances never allowed her to feel joy for a long time.

In the public eye, the Schnee family was a perfect one, but on the inside, it was a broken family that was already on the verge of completely falling out. This was mainly due to one Jacques Schnee. The parasite of the family. Honestly, if Alex had his way, he would have already used his Technokinesis to manipulate the automated doors in the Schnee manor to murder that animal in human skin.

This man had openly admitted to marrying their mother only for the Schnee inheritance, this caused their mother to become a cold and uncaring alcoholic, although she still held a little bit of love towards both of her daughters and her last son, as far as Alex was concerned, it was clear that she did not care for him one bit. This was due to how similar Alex looked to his father, the very man that ruined her life. Winter, his older sister, was also not any better as her cold attitude towards everyone in the family was only tolerated by Weiss alone, naturally distancing Alex's predecessor from her.

In this entire wreck of a family, the only people who still had a good relationship were Weiss and Alex, while Weiss also had a good relationship with Winter, she was most of the time intimidated by her cold elder sister.

While thinking back to the family matters, Alex did not ignore Weiss's descriptions of what she called 'Myrtenaster'.

"Ok, I will help you find the parts required for your 'project', but I will only work on the condition that you will also use the newly developed Combat dress from my company.

'Oh come on, Alex, that dress is so out of fashion, I mean, who even wears a breastplate armor in this time and age anyway?'

"That 'out of fashion' armor is made from Tungsten-D, the same metal that my new Drones are made from, it is also equipped with a miniature Hardlight dust generator which you can use to protect yourself in a dangerous situation, this is my condition, so if you won't take it, then forget about getting the parts for Myrtenaster, and just so you know, most of the parts you want are military-grade ones and only I can get you those things," Alex said in a firm tone as Weiss gave a defeated sigh.

'Fine, I will wear that thing, so help me get those parts already!!!' she shouted before she cut the connection, leaving Alex to chuckle. Sometimes, her behavior reminded him too much of Rebecca and Ryan.

"Your sister?" Polendina asked as he watched Alex make his way back.

"Yes, but enough about that, I need to know how far are we in regards to phase-2?" He asked as Polendina got a serious look on his face.

"We have already sent one of our teams to build the prototypes for hydrogen fusion cells that can be equipped within the drones after today's success, the new Airship that you designed is already under construction and will be ready in a few months, the aircraft that you call 'Jets' is also being tested as of now, as for the WMDs,.....we have confirmed that the 'Tsar Bomba' is functional, but we had to immediately leave the sea because of an entire army of Grimm being attracted due to the bomb, however, we have indeed confirmed that the blast was big enough to wipe out an entire city, we are also working on the 'Railgun' which is also being tested as of now, the experimental ion engines are also showing a great promise, but I honestly don't understand why you would even want to create an abomination like the Tsar bomb?, it's very existence is a sin!!" Polendina said with barely suppressed rage but Alex did not even flinch as he replied.

"You will know in due time Doctor, but for now focus on the report"

"Right, the ground assault vehicles are showing a great promise and the new form of weapon systems that do not depend on Dust are even more promising, we have also had a great breakthrough in creating a functional Satellite launch vehicle!!" At this part, Polendina became a little bit excited, after all, the entirety of remnant had given up on space flight after they learned that dust does not work in space, but these idiots never even tried to find an alternative fuel until he pointed it out for them.

"As for the other projects, it is still too early to say anything, but all in all, phase-2 is going perfectly, the only complaint I have is that you are doing such great breakthroughs in so many fields yet you are keeping all this a secret, even from Ironwood," Polendina said as Alex did not say anything but look at the lab.

He cannot tell anyone about the kind of threat he is about to face and why he had created such weapons and technology in the first place.

After all, He cannot trust anyone in this world to make a proper choice to end Salem because they were all too soft.

To destroy evil, one must be willing to bathe in blood himself.
