"You're amazing, Edric!" Calle cheered as he hugged the floating white baby dragon, and the latter happily accepted the hug with open arms and legs, letting Calle bring him down from the air down to his chest.
Although Calle couldn't be considered as an energetic person in general, what Edric had just done absolutely astonished him. Calle saw the glowing ball of light fly from Edric's mouth straight to the blue slime before completely obliterating it. And not only was the skill looked cool, but the force of the impact also left a man-sized crater behind, it was something that Calle had never seen before in his entire life.
'It's magic! It was real magic!' He thought when he saw Edric's breath attack.
Even though the first magic he saw wasn't something like a generic fireball, water ball, earth spike, wind blade, or basically those ones that were almost the basic spell of all mages he knew in most video games, it was even better since the first magic that he saw was practically a dragon's breath.
Albeit it was a baby dragon's breath, it looked like a white elementless fireball instead of a real dragon's breath. The fact that he just saw a real dragon's breath using his own two eyes was something that was worth getting excited for. Especially when the dragon that had done it was his own familiar.
After giving Edric a few pats on his back and rubbing the dragon's head, Calle finally released the hug and let the creature float again right beside his head.
"How did you do it, Edric? Can you please teach me how to do it?" He asked the little dragon.
"Of course, Calle!" Edric replied excitedly.
Calle then patiently waited for the little dragon to continue talking and teach him how to control his mana and possibly use a dragon's breath on his own.
However, even after about 30 seconds, Edric didn't say anything else, rather, the little dragon looked quite confused as it scratched its little head with its tiny claws.
Noticing his behavior, Calle then asked, "Is there something wrong, Edric?"
"Calle… Now that I think about it. I don't know what to teach you. I know how to do it, but I don't know how to explain it." Edric said with an innocent smile plastered on his face while still scratching his head.
"Ah… It's okay, Edric. You can just try your best to explain what you felt when you gathered the magic and threw it forward."
"Okay!"
"So… I just told the magic in my body to gather in my mouth and when I felt my mouth was full, I spit it out, then it became like that!" Edric said, trying his best to explain what he felt earlier.
But he was literally a newborn dragon that simply had a cheating level of mana controlling ability. He didn't even struggle for a little bit when he used mana for the first time ever since he was born. Hence why the best explanation he could come up with currently was a few vague sentences that barely explains anything to Calle.
And of course, Calle didn't understand a single bit of Edric's explanation, and Edric's attempt was basically not helping him understand how to understand magic even a little.
However, just like how Edric could feel Calle's feelings and also look at some of Calle's memories, Calle was also able to do the same. And now, he could feel the overwhelming happiness in Edric's heart after he praised the little dragon and gave him a hug. Knowing that there was no way Calle would have shown his confused expression nor the tinge of disappointment in his heart after having 0 understanding about controlling magic.
So very quietly, while simultaneously keeping a smile plastered on his face and keeping his negative feelings from seeping out of his mind, Calle thought in his mind,
'System, can you hear me from here?' He tried communicating with the system.
Fortunately, he soon heard the same mechanical voice appearing in his head,
[Of course, Calle. You can talk to me without actually using your mouth.]
Calle then sighed in relief before saying out loud,
"Let me try to think about how to do it first, thank you for the explanation, Edric."
"Your welcome, Calle! Just ask me if you want me to explain it again!" Edric replied with another smile.
Calle nodded also with a smile, while in his head, he was asking the system,
'System, you told me to ask Edric how to use magic, but there's no way I would be able to do it just with that kind of explanation.'
[Calle, don't you trust your familiar? He gave a good explanation about how to use mana blast.]
'Of course, I trust him. But there's no way I would be able to do it just using those simple explanations. I don't even know what controlling mana feels like. Heck, I don't even know that mana existed half an hour ago.'
[But Calle, Edric also didn't know mana existed until a few minutes ago.]
'That's…' Calle wanted to say that Edric was a dragon, a mythical creature that he had only heard about in legends before. And he was only a human, of course, they would be different from each other.
However, the system beats Calle to it and said,
[Calle, the dungeon sovereign contract is more than what you think it is. Rather than thinking you are borrowing Edric's traits, you should now think that Edric is a part of you. What Edric is capable of doing, you will also be able to do it.]
[Just trust your familiar, and do exactly what he said. I'm sure you will also be able to do it.] The mechanical voice said before going completely silent.
Calle still doubted what the system said about him being able to do it. But still, since the system and Edric were the only ones that he could trust regarding his newfound power, Calle decided to try and follow what Edric had explained to him about his breath ability.
Calle had thought about it, but he decided that he would try and gather the mana in his hand instead of his mouth since he thought that it would be awkward if he used his mouth because he was more familiar with using his hands to do his everyday activities.
Then just like what Edric had said to him, Calle just commanded the so-called mana that he had only known about 15 minutes ago and told them to gather at his right hand.
Of course, Calle didn't expect anything to actually happen since he didn't even know what this mana felt like and where he could even find them in his body.
However, little did Calle remember that he got a trait from Edric that had a name that literally said 'Absolute Mana Control'.
Just like the name implied, the trait was so powerful that even though Calle tried to control his mana half-assedly, the mana in his body trembled at his command and they all swiftly surged into his right hand.
And Calle, who didn't expect a single thing would happen when he commanded the aura to move, was baffled beyond belief when he suddenly felt a surge of energy that filled his right hand to the brim with power as a hazy white gas-like substance covered his right-hand whole.
With the hazy white substance completely covering his right hand, Calle felt an overwhelming feeling of power filling his body, giving him a sense of having an indomitable strength as if he was able to punch through a mountain easily right now.
"It works… It really works! Edric, you are really the best!" Calle shouted out loud while still looking at his glowing right hand.
