The Slime Is Using…

'Since even my skin can withstand the slime's acid, then Edric's scales with the hardened skin trait will definitely be able to stand against the slime's acid too… Alright, let's do this.'

"Edric, let's attack the slime together!" Calle said to the little dragon that was still flying beside him before he started running towards the blue slime.

Hearing Calle finally giving it a command, Edric quickly flew towards the blue slime with the same speed that Calle was running at, making sure that he didn't fly too fast or too slow.

"I will attack it first, then when the slime is pushed away, you'll come in and make sure that the slime doesn't get away unscathed this time!" Calle said right before they went into the slime's 3-meter detection range.

Just like before, when Calle and Edric were outside of its detection range, the slime stayed dormant and didn't do anything else other than just simply existing. And when Calle went close enough to it, the slime would bounce its body and headbutt Calle with its whole body.

Now that it had already happened twice, Calle had already prepared himself to see the blue slime once again slamming its whole body against him as he prepared his spear hand to stab the slime's squishy body.

However, when he was finally close enough to the slime, as if it had been waiting for Calle's arrival, the blue slime didn't throw its whole body toward him again this time.

Instead, the blue slime stretched a part of its body forward in Calle's direction, particularly towards Calle's outstretched hand.

Seeing the sudden change of pattern in the slime's attack, Calle was caught off-guard as he didn't expect that only a small thin part of the slime would be meeting his attack head-on.

Earlier, he was sure that the slime would do the same thing as last time since the thought didn't come to him that the slime would suddenly change its attack pattern. Hence why he was currently running forward with a speed that his body hadn't completely adapted to ever since he got the enhanced strength trait that enabled him to jump a few meters high without putting in much effort.

And with the momentum that his whole body carried and his current lack of control of his own body, Calle wasn't able to completely stop his charge or change his direction and was forced to keep on facing the slime's attack head-on.

'Whatever, bring it on!' Calle thought as he cast away his intention of dodging the slime's attack and focusing his spear-like hand to pierce through the slime's extended body part.

But when the two were about to clash against each other, Calle was once again baffled as the slime's extended body suddenly moved in a spiral, causing Calle's spear-like hand to pass through the middle of the spiral, trapping Calle's right hand in the middle of the slime's acidic body.

The slime's acidic body parts used to gradually disappear on their own if Calle was ever hit with them, but now with his hand trapped inside the slime's body part that was still connected with the slime's main body, the acidic body of the slime that latched onto Calle didn't show any signs of disappearing, instead, it kept on corroding Calle's skin with its acidic property.

His skin would only get a slight red hue along with a minuscule stinging pain on his skin whenever the slime's body part touched his body, but now that the slime's body was constantly trying to melt his skin he certainly felt more than just a slight stinging pain.

Even with the hardened skin trait, Calle began to feel the neglectable pain from the acid intensifying more and more to the point where he felt a burning sensation on his skin.

Of course, Calle didn't just stay idle when this happened and tried shaking off the slime's body of his hand, but the slime squished Calle's hand hard enough that no amount of swinging or shaking could get it off of Calle's hand.

Whenever he jerked his hand to the right, the slime's main body would also be thrown to the right, following the extended body part that was attached to Calle's hand.

And it continued to be like that until finally, Edric came in, diving down from above and using his claws to sever the slime's extended body from its main body.

The moment Edric's claws separated the slime's extended body, the extended body that wrapped tight around Calle's hand finally loosened up and started to gradually disappear from existence and it looked like it had just evaporated into the air, leaving nothing behind but lines of red scars on Calle's hand at the shape of the slime's extended body part earlier.

Calle also took this moment to take a quick step back to get outside of the slime's attacking range, which he assumed to be about 5 normal steps, but with his enhanced strength it only took him a single jump backward to traverse the 5 steps distance.

The scars still left lingering pain on Calle's hand, but with nothing that he could do to treat it, Calle could only grit his teeth as he tried to embrace the pain instead of completely denying it.

Even though Calle rarely felt any kinds of injuries in real life due to his job as a virtual reality gamer and he rarely went far away from his home, pain was not a foreign feeling for him since he purposely enabled the pain receptors in the game to help him immerse in the game better, albeit it was still lowered tremendously.

It took him a full ten seconds until he was finally able to ignore the pain in his hands, and returned his focus back completely on the blue slime. And in those ten seconds, he made sure that he wouldn't blink even for a split second as he observed the slime's body, every detail of it.

And sure enough, Calle saw with his own eyes how the slime's body which had considerably shrunk due to a sizable part of its body being separated by Edric earlier returned back to its ordinary size as if nothing had happened.

And with his eyes, Calle saw nothing reasonable happening such as the evaporated body part going back to the slime's main body or the slime eating dirt on the ground to replenish its size. Instead, he saw the slime's body just magically regenerate out of thin air, returning to its former size.

"What the h*ll is this cheating ability…" He cursed out loud.

"How can something just magically regenerate its body out of thin air! That doesn't make any sense!!"

Then something clicked inside Calle's head.

"Wait a minute…"

"Magically regenerate its body…"

"The slime is using…magic…?"
