Petty revenge on a bully

When Miranda passed out, Damon returned to his body. Guard brought him some food, which was a few slices of bread, soup which was salted water with a few carrots, and a cup of milk.

"Eat up!" James, the nurse told him. Now that Damon could move around, James was cautious and did not get close to him like before. James was the nurse paid by Miranda's father to keep his eyes on Damon. James was ordered to report if Damon awakened any dangerous demonic powers.

He was not treating Damon well and often insulted his and Damon's dead loved ones. Not only that, when Damon was restrained, he would injure Damon and say that Damon harmed himself due to his demonic possession. Just a few days ago, he was the one who thrust a massive slice of bread into Damon's mouth, and Damon remembers this very well. If Damon weren't demonized, he likely would have choked.

The superiors knew about how James and two other nurses were treating Damon. But they turned a blind eye because people forget that part of their life when being possessed. However, they didn't know that Damon was possessed by the demon when he was born, and this demonization was his awakening. It was the fusion with his demonic self. So not only does Damon remember everything, but he was also itching to tear them limb from limb.

James stood there and stared at Damon, who sat there on the ground and ignored him. Damon stared into the ceiling, and in his mind, he saw Lilith's face. Her dead burnt body. A few tears formed in his eyes; seeing this, James felt more confident and came to punch him.

"I told you to eat it! I don't have a whole day!" he said and punched Damon; however, after punching him, his wrist was twisted, and his knuckles were bleeding. He screamed in pain as if he had hit a wall with all his strength.

The doors were still opened, so the rest of the guards heard him and came to check on what was going on. When Arthur and Tony rushed into the cell, they saw Damon sitting on the floor and staring at the ceiling, without paying attention to James crying and screaming in pain.

"That bastard!" James screamed through tears. He looked at Damon, who showed no emotions toward him. Not even smirk, as if Damon wasn't even here mentally. Arthur quickly ran up to James and helped him to stand up.

"What happened?!" Arthur asked with frowned brows. Arthur noticed James's wound and thought James had punched the wall or something. However, James pointed his finger toward Damon.

"This asshole happened! I punched him, but it felt as if I punched a wall!" He yelled, making everyone in the psychiatric facility hear his confession.

Arthur's forehead and nose scrunched up to the confusion. He looked at Damon, who still showed no genuine interest in the fiasco inside his cell. Arthur looked at James and asked him if he had punched the patient. "You seriously punched him?"

James yelled at him for asking questions and complained about not being taken for medical attention. However, neither Tony nor Arthur was no longer paying attention to him. Instead, the two of them stared at Damon, who was now staring at the three of them.

"What's wrong?" James asked when he noticed Arthur's and Tony's worried expressions. Then he looked at Damon and saw that he was now staring back at them.

Damon's head was slightly lowered, his eyes were narrowed, and he stared at them intensively. He stretched his neck, making cracking sounds, and stood up. He walked straight toward them.

"What do you want?!" Tony shouted when Damon was right in front of him. However, Damon did not reply. Damon slapped Tony unconscious. And threw him out of the cell. Then he turned to Arthur and did the same. Suddenly, a sinister smile appeared on his face, exposing his elongated fangs. He turned to James, who was standing frozen.

"Well, how about I will feed you this time?" Damon asked while picking up the plate on the ground. Before James could run away, Damon appeared behind him, blocking the exit. "Why are you in such a hurry? It's dinner time."

"Wait, no!" James screamed moments before Damon forcefully opened James's mouth and forced all three slices of bread into his throat. Damon raised James's head forcefully and thrust the cup of milk into his mouth.

James's teeth broke, and the cheeks were torn after a metal cup was forced into his mouth. James was choking on bread, and the milk came out of his nostrils. He tried to push against Damon's hands but couldn't fight back against someone with strength enhanced by demonic possession. James couldn't breathe and passed out.

Damon looked at James and decided he was satisfied for now. He picked up dying James, still unable to breathe, and threw him out of his cell. Then, he closed the doors and went to bed.

The three guards were lying behind his doors for three more hours before the next shift came, and James was already dead by that time. The panic broke out between the nurses and the guards after finding out that Damon was now capable of thinking and might feel a grudge toward them. They knew that Arthur and Tony had done nothing to Damon, unlike James, who was now dead. Ironically, the fact that he was killed made them understand that Damon has his memories. They remembered how James proudly told everyone how he was force-feeding Damon.

A nurse, Maria, who came to take over James's shift, was also acting cruelly toward Damon; she often painted Damon's face with a marker or even cut him to see his demonic healing. Maria had a hobby; cutting possessed people because their healing factor was decisive, and not a single cut remains in a few minutes. If Damon remembers this, Maria might be in trouble. So Maria decided not to risk it and ran away from her shift. She knew she would lose her job but did not care about it. Life was worth much more than work.

After she called her superior and told the news about her leaving, she was yelled at. However, she told the boss to 'fuck himself' and that the job was not worth risking her life.

Before Maria walked out, she entered the nurses' office and saw Tony and Arthur still in bed. Arthur was still sleeping. However, Tony was sitting up with a terrified expression. He noticed Maria and greeted her. "Hey, Maria."

Maria chuckled. Usually, Tony called her simply by the letter M. This was the first time since Tony became the guard in a psychiatric facility he ever called Maria by her name. "Hey, Tony. What the hell happened?"

"I have no idea, the last thing I remember, he was standing in front of me, and then I woke up here." Tony scratched the back of his head. His cheek and teeth were hurting, and he didn't know why. Then he asked about James. "Arthur is here, but where the hell is James? Is he alright?"

"James is dead. That demon killed him by stuffing his throat with bread," Maria said coldly. She didn't know Damon's name because none of the demons had name tags. To her, he was simply patient number 42.

Tony went utterly stiff. He couldn't even mutter a word after realizing how close he was to dying. The demon remembered how people treated him when he was restrained, and what is worse, he awakened superpowers. He would have been dead alongside James if he had been a jerk toward that demon.

"My god!" He exclaimed after regaining composure. He knew that many guards and nurses were abusive toward restrained demons. Damon was one of those demons who were constantly abused. Now that he remembers it, he might begin massacring an entire psychiatric ward. He looked at Maria, who was wearing her casual clothing, despite it was supposed to be her shift. He raised his brow in confusion and asked. "Are you quitting the job?"

Maria nodded and looked around to see if no one was listening to their conversation. "Yeah, he remembers everything during the time he was restrained. He would kill me if he saw me." She deeply inhaled, held her breath for a few seconds, and exhaled. She could not believe how she had messed up. But she thought it was not her fault. Demons never remembered what happened during their demonic possession. This man was an anomaly.

"Kill you? Why?" Tony frowned. He had never heard of Maria doing anything wrong to demons, so her words disappointed him. She was one of his best friends because he believed that those people deserve to be respected even during the demonic possession process. After all, demonic spirits only possess people with pure hearts and cannot fight for themselves. So before they became demons, those people were indeed people worthy of respect. Their future horrific actions after becoming demons were primarily due to them becoming mentally unstable after their inner demon continued to force them to kill the ones that harmed them.

Maria noticed Tony's disappointed look and sighed. "Don't think about it too much." She walked closer to Tony's bed and patted his shoulder. Then, with a worried expression, she said to Tony while patting his shoulder, "Please be safe; it seems this demon is dangerous."

"True. I wonder how the higher-ups will deal with him." Tony said while looking around the room. His jaw was hurting, and he realized he was missing two teeth. "Damn, that was one hell of a slap."

Maria chuckled at Tony's exclaim. She looked at him and said, "I hope we can talk after work, what do you think?" while playing with her blonde hair.

Tony shook his head. "Not today. I think I will rest for a few days at home." His tone was cold; in his eyes, Maria was a bully who could harass people who couldn't fight back. So he wanted to stay away from her for a while until he decided if he wanted to continue talking to her or break the contact with her.

Maria understood and left the room. She walked out of the building and felt chills on her back as if someone was watching her. She looked around but didn't see anything suspicious, so after the bus arrived, she went straight home.
