Second Evolution

Coming back from his walk with newfound knowledge, Matthew is now more curious about this other world that God made. After only living in this world for only about a week, Matthew has seen many similarities from earth such as the many types of animals in this world although they are way bigger than their version back on earth, they also share a lot of similarities, but Matthew also found a huge difference that may not possibly exist back on earth such as the aura ability, and he ponders if there are other things that didn't exist back on earth, but exist in this world.

'If aura abilities exist, does that mean there is also a chance that magic also exists here!?'

Many more questions appeared on Matthew's mind such as the technological advancement level in this world, does he reincarnated in a world where the humans already made spaceships and lived in outer space like the sci-fi movie he watched, or rather he lived in a medieval world where empire and kingdoms exist throughout the lands and they are constantly fighting each other using swords, arrows, or even magic.

On his quest in finding his true happiness in life, Matthew wanted to explore the whole world and see all the things the world has to offer.

But now that Matthew is only a small chameleon that is still struggling to survive in the forest, he doubts that he can even do much if he ever found the spaceships or the kingdoms outside. So for now, Matthew decided to start exploring the world step by step, starting from the forest where he is currently living in and the first place he ends up in after arriving in this world.

'And how am I able to explore this dangerous place freely?'

'By protecting myself against the predators and defeating them of course!'

'And how do I do that?'

'I need to get stronger! Stronger than ever that nobody will bother me, and for the one who did, make them regret ever doing it!'

'And how do I do that?'

'By eating everything and evolving of course!'

After hyping himself up for another feast, Matthew then started eating the half-eaten wolf from yesterday and about 3 quarters of another wolf's flesh to complete his Lupus Wolf monster data to 100%.

'And now with that complete,'

'System, Evolv…'

'Wait!'

Before starting his evolution process, Matthew realized something about his current whereabouts,

'Come to think of it, last time, my nest was a small hole and the bigger creatures won't be able to get through the small opening, but this time…'

Matthew looked at the gaping hole in front of him that can surely fit a wolf or two walking side by side and he wouldn't be able to feel safe knowing that his body will be vulnerable during the process of evolution and without any defense at all.

'But the wolves are now already gone, who will hunt me? But still, knowing that I have no protection whatsoever when I'm fully unconscious doesn't sit right with me! It's not like when I'm asleep and could wake up any second I feel something.'

'I wish the system has a radar or sensor of some sort that can notify me if any creatures get close to me.'

Suddenly, an unexpected voice could be heard on Matthew's head,

'Does the host want to enable the scanner function?' The machine-like voice suddenly asked Matthew.

'Scanner? What is that?'

'After host's first evolution, host is now able to scan for lifeforms that are located near the host's body using the system. But because of the host's still low level, the scanner is only able to scan the nearby area in a 3 meters radius around the host, and because host's insufficient levels, host could only detect macroscopic entities inside the effective area of the scanner.'

'Why didn't you tell me that I have such things! Do you not want me to succeed system!?' Matthew asked with an annoyed voice.

'The creator of the system made it so that, I can only reveal the available functions if the host ever inquires about the topic regarding the function, hence the system never notified host before.' The machine-like voice answered.

'That means that it is God's doing… Well, can't do anything about that then.' Matthew shrugged using his non-existent shoulder.

'Alright then, activate the scanner function system.'

Matthew couldn't feel anything different after he activated the scanner function, but after he looked closely on the minimap, he could see that there is a dot that appeared to represent himself on the minimap, and a small circle appeared around the dot, and Matthew could only guess that as the radius of the scanner that the system mentioned.

'Okay now that everything is ready, System, Evolve!'

-Host will be vulnerable when in the evolution process and the scanner function will be disabled temporarily during the process, are you sure you want to evolve now?-

- Yes / No -

'Ye...WAIT A MINUTE!'

'What do you mean the scanner function will also be disabled?'

'The system will continue to evolve gaining new functions along with the host's evolution and to do that, the system also needs to be deactivated in the evolution process.'

'DOESN'T THAT MEAN THAT THE SCANNER FUNCTION WOULDN'T SOLVE MY CURRENT PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE? WHY DO YOU EVEN BOTHER MENTIONING IT THEN??'

As many complaints and mockery are thrown out of Matthew's mouth or in this case, the mouth on his mind if there exists one, the system didn't say anything nor react to his ridicule and complaints.

'Whatever, I will just do it the traditional way and hope for the best.' Matthew said as he took apart the wolves' bones that he had eaten and stabbing them to the ground at the den's entrance, making it like a makeshift cage that is used both for keeping any creatures out but also holding him in inside and the only way to get in or out is to break the bone wall, but he didn't care as he is going to be inside for a while.

And now that Matthew is finally able to rest his mind knowing that there is some sort of protection although not much, and the bone wall only gives him peace of mind rather than real protection, but now he can at least focus on his evolution.

Matthew then find a comfortable position for his body before closing his eyes and finally said,

'System, Evolve!'

As per standard, Matthew once again lost his consciousness before waking up again in complete darkness. But this time, Matthew didn't panic and already knew where he was in which is the black room, the place in his own mind, and where he will be previewing his body after evolution and adding the body part upgrades to his evolution.

'Now what is the keyword again...Is it view initial evolution?'

-Do you want to view the initial evolution?-

'It's correct, good job brain!'

'Yes'

After giving his confirmation, the 3D hologram of his supposed to be new body just like the one that he has seen before in his first evolution appeared once again. And just like before, Matthew could zoom in and out then rotate the model any direction as he liked it.

The same as before, the first thing that Matthew does is to check out his new body and its new features.

Once again, Matthew noticed that his body will once again double in size to about 1 meter in length and 50 centimeters tall. But after looking at his other body parts, he didn't see much difference other than his muscles being more robust.

'System, is that it? Do I only get bigger?'
