Synopsis

"Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory." What a brilliant line, isn't it? James was a boy who had nothing to worry about. A happy family, a nice childhood. What's more to ask? But one day, everything changed. He lost everything in the blink of an eye. The only thing left for him were the memories and dreams of the past. Trying to cope up with the loss, he cut all ties with the outside world and became a shut-in, having no one left to call his own or to rely upon. There was nothing left for him in this world, but still he lived and soon found a purpose in his life, which lead him to create something that could change the world. And on the very day when his dream project was about to come to the light, he lost his life, trying to save a little girl from an unfortunate accident.  "Will I ever be remembered...? I wish... someone would." These were the last word James mumbled before his conscious faded into darkness. But his life didn't end there, as he is transmigrated into the body of an arrogant, worthless Duke's son in some unknown land with no memories about who is or any idea about where he is. In an era of political turmoil and civil strife, the Duke's son is forced to prove his worth for inheriting the title. Will he be able to accept the new reality and prove himself by leading this country into a prosperous future? Or will he cease to the pressure of his past and lose everything once more? ------------------------------------------------------------------ Disclaimer: This is not a power-fantasy or a 'feel-good' story. If you feel a protagonist should never lack agency (especially in early story) or make compromises because of difficult circumstances, then this fiction is probably not for you. It is a story that delves deep into real world sociological/psychological subjects and explores many topics of gray morality. I wrote it because I like stories that make me think more about the world around us, not to detach myself from reality. Some aspects you can expect based on the tags include: - [Kingdom Building]: political drama, geopolitical/geoeconomic strategy - [Army Building]: massive battles featuring in-depth planning, combined arms, and operational logistics - [Identity Crisis]: someone translated into a whole different world having to rebuild their identity and life aims ------------------------------------------------------------------ At least try 40 chapters before leaving. The story starts off slowly, more like a slice of life than action-adventure, but I guarantee you it will get there. For those who want to skip the slow part, start from Chapter - 35 (Beginning of The End) (The whole Disclaimer section is copied from Aorii as I am too busy writing the complete story.) And yes, just for General Knowledge, James will become OP throughout the story. He is not some legendary guy who will pull out Excalibur & conquer the entire world. Update Schedule - One chapter a day. Message me on discord if you have some marvellous idea about my novel - thedefector#3548 And again, I humbly thank you for reading it. I hope you stick throughout the journey.

Captivating the Princess's Heart: Die or Be Mine

Staring at the gun pointed at her head, Hannah felt as if she were watching all of her childhood memories. Cold sweat kept dripping down from the smooth skin of her back, making her quiver slightly. "Don't!" she yelled, tears pooling at the corner of her eyes due to being startled almost out of her wits. "S-spare me! Please spare my life!" she begged. Her beautiful eyes, which are struggling so hard as to not let a single tear of hers drop, are looking straight into Ivan's dark ones, looking as if she were pleading for her life. Looking back at her tearful eyes, a mischievous grin appeared on Ivan's lips. His handsome face has a devilish look to it, looking both extremely evil and elegant at the same time. "Why should I? Give me a good reason, and I might be willing to let you live," he asked without moving his gun away from her head. Hearing his words, Hannah's will to survive made her lie within a second. "I-I like you!" she stuttered. Hearing Hannah confess her feelings for him, the small smirk on Ivan's face slowly faded bit by bit. Ivan has indeed told her to think of a good reason for him not to kill her, but not once has he thought that the fair maiden in front of him would suddenly say those words. Withdrawing the gun that was pointed at the girl's head, Ivan placed it on the back part of his waist before he grabbed Hannah's soft cheek with his calloused hands. "You like me?" he asked, gaining a multitude of nods from the girl who was currently looking at the space behind him, avoiding his dark eyes. Unbeknownst to Hannah, a smirk much less mischievous compared to his earlier ones has once again appeared on Ivan's face, and with a wicked glint in his eyes, Ivan spoke. "Prove it" _______________________________________________________________________________________ One day, while she was on a blind date with the son of her brother's business partner, Hannah, the eldest young lady of the Salvador family got kidnapped without anyone knowing. She was brought to the mansion hidden deep within the dense forest on the top of a mountain, and there she met Ivan. The man who looks so simple yet dangerous at the same time releases deadly vibes in him. In her desperation to live, she uttered words that she didn't mean to say. She didn't think twice about saying such words in order to live, but who would have thought that Ivan, the man who smiles like a child while pointing a gun at her head, would take it seriously.

Well, as a avid reader, and always searching for good books to follow I'm always looking. And I found here a good gem, the writing quality has minor errors that shouldn't negatively impact reading. The MC is a real person with problems and lost after his encounter with truck-kun, but he still is trying to find himself in his new environment which I find good and interesting and certainly different and I like how the support characters help him find some solace and or show some light in his journey. Everyone until know is distinct and has their on view/personality. As world background is still quite early but I liked. Kingdom building in medieval era always get me thrilled so it might be a bit biased. Now my personal view, this is the best kingdom building that I read in a long time, the character acts like how someone probably would when being throw in a random environment without prior knowledge. It is slow paced with some political fighting in the background, however I prefer that. I find extremely turn off when suddenly there is a spike in productivity from medieval era to early industrial like in weeks. And as I like with some sparkling and not so sparkling romance in some moments (I like my story with romances so I'm biased here too). I would like that the author could give this story at least some closure, but by the gist of the 66 chapters I read it Author planned much more. But as we are humans and everyone has their life now I can only hope. I suggest that people could read and show some love, so that author could see he wrote something really good and maybe gain the motivation needed to pick the pen again. Thanks for writing author and peace.

well the story and slow at first due to the protagonist is still adjusting emotionally more as the story starts to go and things get better so if you read just wait until chapter 35 that this chapter forward things start to get interesting there after you want to leave it will be because you really didn't like it and not because you didn't have the patience

This book is probably now one of my favorites. As someone who reads a lot of fictional books, like cultivation or novels with magic and stuff, it feels great to read a non-fiction-ish book. Thank you for making the Webnovel! Just everything about it is good, too bad they’ll probably die soon.. Also, too bad that the story looks like it’s wrapping up. 5/5 Webnovel.

this novel is slow at first but is good in building characters I really like how it is one of the few territory management/kingdom building novels without a massively overpowered character at least physically and how there is not one person killing hundreds If not thousands of people alone. The kingdom-building politics and plots come front and centre in the later chapters and hopefully the build-up in the earlier chapters come with a nice payoff. For me it is a novel with excellent potential though slow at the start looking forward to future chapters.

This novel has lot of potential. The MC is smart and logical and does what is right. Changes doesn't happen for the sake of change. Characters have their own personality, they don't exist just for the MC. Also relationships doesn't feel superficial. If you just improve a bit, you can do even better. Things are pretty interesting so far. I like where this is going. Listen people this novel doesn't have action scenes from the very first chapter so don't expect it from the very beginning. You will add right...? I hope you do. It's not historically accurate but I will still read it cause it has those elements which makes history stuff works. All the novels I have read, this is the first that has some meaning inside every chapter. Like the author wants to convey something.  Just improve your writing quality a bit, sometime it feels stiff but I won't complain as you are new to this. Grammar is ok but can be improved. Story is also fine. There is no violence from the first chapter. Don't listen to what others say, there will always be people who won't like whatever you do. You are doing great. Keep writing I know you can do it. Till this point everything is good. Just don't spoil it by silly mistakes. . Best of luck.

a very good story, maybe it has a long beginning, but in the end you can see flashes that our mc has dealt with his problems only now the question remains because he has flashes of intellect but sometimes he does not connect logical coincidences and he is naive
