Rock Rabbit!

<Daily Quest Has Been Completed: Run 1 Mile>

<10 EXP Has Been Granted>

"That was easy enough, but why can't i do any push-ups?" Asked Link, Sweaty.

<Your Left Arm Is Recovering, User Can Not Put Pressure On It>

"Ok, so now what?" Link continued "How good are the 10 stats then?"

<User has the stats of an athlete, due to injury The User's stamina is still depleted, please be patient.>

"Ok, I guess at least that's good" Link continued "Wait, you said i get Exp from anything i kill right?"

<Affirmative>

"Ok, let's go hunting"

Link went home, grabbed his bow and some arrows then headed to the forest, he didn't tell anybody about where he was going, he was sure that his mother wouldn't let him.

He walked in for a bit, trying to use the tracking skills his father taught him, easily finding tracks of a Rock Rabbit, the things tracks were heavier and a bit bigger than a normal Rabbit's.

Normal Rabbits exist, but only in their infancy. With the World Energy around them, they Evolve with the Element they have most affinity with, which is Earth.

Link follows along as sneakily as he could, trying not to scare it or get attacked by it if he runs into it by accident.

The ground became grassy, making it hard to see the tracks but Link kept trying.

Too focused on the ground, he ran into a bush. One that the Rock Rabbit was eating from.

Since their bodies became tougher, these creatures eat anything that tastes good to them, being small branches, leaves or grass even.

*Kee

The rabbit screamed, jumping back but not moving further, ready to fight for the food.

"Damn it" Link muttered, reaching for his knife. "Fuck, i didn't bring it"

*KEE

The rabbit shrieked again but louder, this time putting all it's weight on its back legs. They were huge for its body.

"What did dad say about these creatures?" Said Link as he stepped back "Their attacks are Charge and Leap? What does it do exactly?"

As he looked at the Rabbit again, it stood in a strange position, using its powerful hind legs and charged at Link.

"Oh shit, so that's what he meant" Said Link, Dodging the attack by jumping to the side.

*Bam

"What the hell? Are these things brain dead?" Said Link, looking at the Rabbit. It crashed into the tree behind him. Tree barks flew everywhere as it's body laid there unmoving.

"Is it dead?" Asked Link "Why didn't I get any Exp?"

<I believe that the little guy has just passed out, it's not dead yet.>

"Well, that was easier than I thought" Said Link, looking at the broken tree bark and the current state of the tree. It had a spiderweb of cracks originating from a small caved in part where the Rock Rabbit slammed into "Though i'm glad that didn't hit me"

Grabbing an arrow from his quiver, Link used it to pierce the Rock Rabbit's neck. He had to use a bit of strength, it's skin was thick and too tough.

"There we go" As Link muttered these words under his breath, a message came up.

<Rock Rabbit Killed>

<50 EXP Has Been Granted>

"Even though that was easy, it was still dangerous, maybe i shouldn't be doing this, i'm still recovering" Link thought, tying the Rabbit to his hip. "This little guy can still be useful"

<You don't need to tie it like that, put it in The Inventory>

"Oh yeah, Forgot"

Just like his old system, the inventory looked the same.

"How do I put this thing in there?" Said Link, Trying to put the Rabbit in by shoving it, but nothing was happening, it kept going through the screen.

<You don't have to do it manually, hold it in your hand and think about the Inventory>

As he did so, the Rabbit disappeared, appearing again in one of the squares. Link pressed on it.

"That might be useful in the future"

<Rock Rabbit's Carcass, found mainly in lush forest areas, attuned to the Earth element. A Level 0 Magical Beast..>

<Would you like to dress the animal? Yes/No>

"Wait, what?" Said Link "Dress?"

<It's what your father did back then, Field Dressing. Press Yes and the process will be done for you>

"Wow" Link said as he pressed Yes. The carcass disappeared, a bar started filling up quickly and 4 new items appeared.

<Rock Rabbit's Skin. Good condition>

<Rock Rabbit's Meat. Fresh>

<Rock Rabbit's Guts. Trash>

<Rock Rabbit's Mana Core. Basic Level 0>

Link read through each one, until reaching the Fly sized Mana Core.

"Oh, I can get a Mana Core from these guys?" Asked Link, Excited.

<It's a 20% chance with Level 0 Creatures, but User managed to get one on his first kill, test if you can use it>

"Yeah, got it. By the way, didn't i tell you to start calling me Link?"

<Indeed, but using 'The User' seems to be more efficient.>

"How is that more efficient? ...Whatever." Said Link as he pressed on the Core.

<Rock Rabbit's Mana Core. Basic Level 0. Radiates Earth Elemental Energy.>

<Would you like to Consume it? Yes/No>

"Fuck YES" Said Link, pressing the Yes option.

Suddenly, an odd relaxing feeling washed over him, taking away all his exhaustion.

<Consumption successful>

<New Passive Skill: Rock Skin>

<Rock Skin: The User's skin becomes as strong as rocks, -20% damage from basic physical Attacks.> <Passive>

<New Permanent Mana Points: + 1>

"That's it?" Link thought.

<Not bad for a weak monster like that, at least you got a Skill>

"Yeah, i guess."

Link was a bit disappointed, but he wasn't expecting much in the first place which was weird.

He made up his mind, looking around for new tracks. The sun started to set, with Link failing to find a new prey. He had no other choice but to go home.

"Hey, you're back late I was worried," Said Anny as she hugged Link.

"I'm ok mom, don't worry." He reassured her.

After dinner, he went to the backyard for another attempt at the Push-Ups. It was a Daily Quest and it'll be a waste if it is gone by tomorrow.

After consuming the Mana Core Link felt great, but according to the system it was the feeling of the New Mana entering his body. But either way he still wanted to keep trying.

After a lot of fails, Link gave up, went to bed sad about the lost Exp points.

...

Link found it hard to sleep. He asked Zero a lot of questions about the system, and the response he received made a little sense to him.

<Each World is different. You might think that your old System was better, but on the long run it would only hinder your progression. You had to start all over again twice but this is all for your own good>

"Why is that God trying to hard for me?" Link asked.

<Insufficient Data. Can not answer>
