A Hunter (1)

The woods next to toula is abundant in wildlife, so those bold and lucky enough would go hunting all year round, searching for precious meat, warm fur, or both. Rao was one of the village's hunters, the best one.

It was impossible to meet monsters in the forest unless one went several kilometres deep. Since there was no need for exploring the woods in detail, the inner areas were still uncharted territory.

It was Link's thirteenth birthday and today was the day Link's father Rao was going to take him to the forest and teach him all he needed to know. Rao had given Link a bow seven years ago, which link had added to his training routine.

After Accumulating elemental energy and sword practice, link would spend most of his time training with the bow, since link was physically unable to fight in close range yet, he decided that using archery and magic would make up for it.

He would spend his time working on his aiming and proper technique.

To Link's surprise after rinse and repeating the same training for a long time. Other than the Bow mastery skill, he gained 2 more.

Radiant Arrow : A high-damage charging attack. (Level: 1 / Active)

Eagle's Eye : Increases Power, Attack Speed, Precision, and Endurance, as well as damage against normal monsters. (Level: 1 / Active)

Link was excited, training was all he has done since that day, raising them to max level. link noticed with time, the more he advanced his skills, the more they were harder to level up, that included both sword and bow mastery, being stuck at level 9, which led link to focus only on his mana circulation.

Only Samuel knew about his routine, following suit.

Other than that, link made no progress with magic yet, only increasing the elemental points to 200 for each element.

But now that link was big enough, his father decided it was time to officially take him out hunting, giving him some arrows and a hunting knife. Samuel was also with them since he begged link non-stop to take him as well.

At first, Rao didn't want to take samuel. but after praising the hunter occupation and some ass kissing, which impressed link. Rao agreed to bring him only if he got his parents permission.

When the group was ready to leave, two cute girls ran towards them. The two girls looked identical except for their facial expressions and their hair styles. One had a cheery smile with a ponytail tied to the right. The other had a stoic expression , with her hair down reaching her back.

These were the two twins that were a year younger than link. the cheerful one is Nana, and Nina the expressionless one. Nana approached Samuel, while Nina approached Link.

"I heard you guys are going hunting, can we come along?" asked Nana, looking at Samuel with puppy eyes. Samuel froze, looking at Link for backup. Unfortunately, link was having some problems of his own.

Even though Nina didn't say anything and only kept looking at Link, he understood that she wanted to come along as well like her sister.

"She kept on clinging onto me, even since I taught her how to circulate mana and feel the elementals. Am I her first love? She's too young and I don't have time for all of that anyways." link thought to himself.

little did he know, nina was distracted by a pimple on links cheek.

She snapped out of her trance, blurting out 4 words at best. "I want to go" That was all, she felt like she said enough.

"We're not going to play around, you can't come" link looked at the girls and flatly refused.

"They might follow us, without telling anyone" Samuel got closer to Link and whispered to him.

Having been around the twins for years, link and Samuel both knew them well.

"My little boy is a ladies man just like his father" Rao had a silly smile on his face.

"Girls, you can't come, just to be sure you won't follow us, we're gonna have to inform your mother." Rao added.

"No no, please don't tell our mom," said nana.

"Please don't," added nina.

"Sorry, but i can't risk it." said Rao with a smile.

After informing the girls mother, she took them away, with Rao getting called a meanie by them.

Rao, link and Samuel double checked their things. Samuel got a bow from his father's friend and some arrows so he can participate as well.

Link was excited, he never managed to go deeper into the forest due to samuel always following him, even when he tried to sneak in, samuel would somehow always find him.

"What the hell, is he a dog?" link used to think.

The group slowly made their way into the forest.

"Today we will be hunting small game." rao spoke as he was walking "For example, Rock rabbits, Wind squirrels, Ru birds, and whatnot. so keep your eyes and ears open."

"What the hell are those" thought link "Rock? Wind? Ru?" link had a lot of curiosity about this world, it didn't matter how many books he read or questions he asked he couldn't find the answers to everything, which disappointed him a lot.

"I really need to get out of this village if i want more knowledge." though link.

It took a few minutes for the trio to finally find a trail. small rabbits footsteps were left on the dirt, they were a bit bigger than a normal rabbits.

Rao took the lead, tracking the animal, after a bit Rao held his hand up, signalling them to stop.

"There it is, near the bush" said rao, pointing at a bush 2 feet high with weird colored fruit.

Link and samuel couldn't find what rao was pointing at, until they saw what looked like a rabbit on steroids, samuel had a curious look while link held in a laugh.

"What the hell? it looks like a cartoon character" link thought.

"Ok kids, that is a monster called a rock rabbit, the element it's naturally born with is earth, hence the name" Rao started explaining in a whisper "It's attacks are charge and leap, which are easy to predict and dodge. it might look unappetizing but it tastes as good as any other animal so let's try our best."

When he finished speaking, he looked at Link.

"Let me see how good you've become with the bow, link"

"Got it" Link reached to his back, grabbing the bow and nocking an arrow in.

After all the training link had done, he was able to hit even a pea from 20 feet. he had no reason to hold back, nor tone down his skills.

Wosh!

The arrow flew out with a blur hitting the rabbit right in its neck, pinning it against the tree behind it.

"Wow" Both Rao and Samuel were surprised.

Samuel saw link practice with wooden arrows so many times but the distance and terrain were different, which surprised Samuel but it impressed Rao even more.

"What the hell kid, you're a natural" he clapped.

"We've been practicing together but I didn't think you were this good," said samuel.

Link wasn't happy with the praises but he faked it anyways. the system allowed him to easily learn and adapt easily with every weapon which he felt numb to.

After grabbing the rabbit, the trio walked back a bit to a clearing they passed earlier and set up a small resting area.

"I know we didn't do much, but one isn't called a hunter without knowing how to properly skin and gut animals." Said rao, expecting a disgusted expression from the kids, but to his surprise, he got that response from Samuel alone.

Link sat there, looking at the rabbit with cold eyes.

Hope you enjoyed.

I'm going to do some research on hunting and gutting so wish me luck.
