Draft picks.

The next two days were a holiday for us, before the internships came into focus.

In these two days, aside from resting, I wrote letters addressing the faculty of UA, tailored for each teacher separately, asking for the promotion of one Hitoshi Shinso to the hero course.

Another ploy, another pawn on my side of the board and another step closer to victory.

As the vacation ended, I arrived at the UA teacher's office and deposited the letters on each and every teacher's desk, before they arrived before personally delivering the last to principal Nezu.

"What brings you to my office at," Nezu looked at his watch, "6:50 in the morning? Is something the matter? An urgency perhaps?"

"Yes and no. I did have something to talk about. But before that, I have a letter for you, sir!" I said, handing him an envelope.

"A letter! From the top student in the first year too! How quaint!" He said cheerily, before sliding it into his drawer.

"Now what was this thing that you wanted to talk to me about?" He said.

"Aren't you going to read the letter first?" I asked.

"Should I? I was planning on doing it at lunch, but if you insist that it's necessary.."

"No. It's fine. It's not that urgent." I said.

"Then what was it that you wanted to talk about?" He asked.

"That's... don't take this the wrong way, sir, but, I think there's a traitor in UA..."

"Interesting. You see Haru," he said, pulling out a comb and brushing his hair, almost out of impulse, "I came to the same conclusion not too long ago!"

.....

Finishing my conversation with the principal, I headed back to the class to wait out the next half an hour or so.

Soon the students started to fill in, talking about their newfound popularity, with people recognizing them on the street or in the train, etc.

"Didn't anyone ask you about the sports festival Haru?" Mina asked.

"Yeah. You made a big splash out there, people must've swarmed you left and right!" Sero said.

"No. Actually I came here earlier than usual today, around 6:30 in the morning, so I didn't find many people during my commute. Maybe tomorrow?" I said.

"That's way too early! Why did you come here so early? Are you in trouble Haru-chan?!" Deku asked, worried.

I ruffled his hair, and answered.

"No. Just had something to ask the principal about the festival results. Don't worry. It's nothing important."

He looked at me suspiciously, before returning to his seat, as the bell rang, indicating the start of the day. Aizawa-sensei walked in, and the class settled down.

"Good! It took you less than 2 seconds to settle down. That's an improvement." He said, dully.

"Now onto today's class. We're having a special hero informatics class today."

The class suddenly began to panic. After all, Aizawa-sensei and special classes had left a bad taste in our mouths over the past month of school, what with the myriad of surprise tests, threats of expulsion and sudden quizzes on hero laws, filled with trick questions he had used to torment us.

"Code names. You're going to come up with code names for hero work." He said, clearing up our misunderstanding, as everyone heaved a sigh of relief.

"We're gonna do something super exciting!" The class cheered, only for Aizawa-sensei to glare us down immediately.

"This is related to the pro hero draft picks I mentioned other day. The drafts begin in earnest in the second and third years, after the students have gained experience and can become immediate assets to the pros.

In other words, for them to extend offers to first years like you shows that they're interested in your future potential. These offers are often canceled if that interest dies down by graduation." He said.

"Damnit! Adults are so selfish!" Mineta said, slamming his fist onto the desk.

"So we'll have to prove ourselves once we get picked huh?" Mina said.

"That's right. And here are the totals for those with offers." He said, pointing at the screen behind him, and clicked the projector remote on.

The offers were wildly different from canon. Except one that is.

Shoto Todoroki with over 4000 offers.

Being a handsome son of the second rank hero has it's perks huh?

I received far fewer offers at a grand total of 18.

Fucking 18 offers! And I won the damn festival!

I might have cried about the unfairness of it all, but I had already read Nighteye's mind back in the stadium.

I was getting an offer from him for certain. So it didn't matter much if I got ten offers or a thousand, I could choose only one after all.

"Sensei!" Iida raised his hand and asked, "Why did Haru get less offer than Shoto, even though he won the festival?"

"I was wondering that too. Even I got more offers than him." Tsuyu said.

Aizawa-sensei sighed before answering.

"When you talk about destroying hero society, you shouldn't expect many offers from heroes whose livelihood you just promised to ruin." He said, looking at me.

I just shrugged. I figured it was something like that.

"Though I hope you guys remember that you lost the bet. You can't take any of these offers." I said, smiling mockingly.

"You don't need to remind them. The school has automatically rejected the offers provided to the students in question." Aizawa-sensei said.

"The school did?" Deku asked.

"Yes. That is your punishment for participating in open gambling in full view of the nation and then losing nine to one. Pathetically at that too." Aizawa-sensei answered.

"Wait, my offer hasn't been rejected has it?" I asked.

"No. We were going to of course. Unfortunately, the PR disaster you were likely to cause in the scenario we did, was enough of an incentive for us not to." He answered, disappointed.

"Heh! Smart choice." I said.

"But that doesn't mean you're off the hook! You'll be taking separate, harder tests for the rest of the term as punishment." He teplied.

"Oh C'mon!" I protested.
