CHAPTER 7- PICKING A FIGHT WITH RUFFIANS

With a whole table worth of seafood dishes placed in front of her, the restaurant owner had changed her snobbish attitude earlier and gave her back the sixty bucks in change politely.

Song Ye casually stuff the sixty bucks into her pocket and didn't pay much attention towards how sordid the restaurant owner was. What was on her mind currently was her awe in regards to how cheap things were. If it was fifteen years later, the price for just one meal would be raised so much that it cost ten times more than the price now.

Ignoring the envious, or perhaps shocked gazes around her, Song Ye's chopstick began to sweep left and right, consuming her food in a fast but graceful manner. That, in itself gave out a sense of elegance.

No matter in which timeline a person is in, if one were to stand out, they were bound to be the center of attention. Not to mention with how she just casually took out an old man and ordered dishes of seafood to eat by herself, made her a target and was under observation by a few pair of eyes in a dark corner for quite some time.

A few ruffians just openly walked into the restaurant, spitting out vulgar words the moment they opened their mouth.

"Did you not fucking see me? Are you implying that you didn't want to serve me or is it that you aren't willing to come out and greet me?"

In between those words, with a pang, the ruffian kicked a chair away from a nearby table, with someone still seated on it. The man that had fallen onto the ground didn't even dare speak up.

The restaurant owner had hid behind the counter with the fear when they caused a ruckus. She came out with a bitter face and bowed while laughingly talked to the ruffian.

"Ahh, Boss Xiao Dao, I was busy at the back earlier so I did not notice you soon enough, so don't get mad. And, you see, I had handed the protection fee to you a few days ago, so why are you…"

Without saying the words behind, everyone knew what she meant.

In this age where it was chaotic, there were some ruffians that ganged up on these small towns and villages to collect protection fee. It was said to be collected so that the merchants and businessmen would be protected and would not be disturbed; to put it bluntly, it was collected to claim the territory as their own.

And by chance the riverside area was their territory.

Seeing how the restaurant owner had bowed down to them, the ruffians felt good. Xiao Dao waved his hand in a good mood.

"I remember that we had collected the money. The great me is here today to have a meal, so you don't need to care about it."

"Eh, haa…"

The restaurant owner blanked out and sighed, thinking that she won't be earning any money from this business.

After they had said so, rather than ordering food, they had directly strode to the corner. Following the line of sight, the people around saw that Song Ye was still eating her food alone and felt worried for her.

As the opponents were on the bad side, no one dared to help her out.

Hearing a pang, Song Ye felt her table shake a little and soon, a few shadows sat across from her. One can guess who these people are without even the need to raise their head up.

Normally, upon seeing ruffians, girls would either began to weep or beg for forgiveness; not to mention the whole restaurant had went quiet after the ruffian loudly smacked the table. But for Xiao Dao, he had received no reaction after quite some time and saw the girl enjoying her meal, as if nothing had happened.

Unable to get the reaction that they had expected, the few men in front of her had an awkward look on their face and Xiao Dao smiled menacingly.

"That's quite the courage you have there, little miss. Come and play with me later."

After saying that, he even gave Song Ye what he thought to be a cool whistle. Following that, the other ruffians had even laughed in a suggestive manner.

At this moment, all the young girls in the restaurant had walked out of the restaurant one by one as they were afraid that they might end up being the next target if they were one step too late.

But Song Ye just ate her meal slowly and calmly, without even changing her expression, as if disconnected from the surroundings.

"Boss, is this girl deaf?"

This time, the ruffians around became puzzled. This was the first time they were completely ignored while threatening someone.

Hearing that, Xiao Dao raised his eyebrow.

"I don't care if she's deaf or not, in the end she must follow me back obediently."

After saying so, Xiao Dao stood up suddenly and stretched out his hands towards Song Ye to capture her.

Just when the hand was about to touch her, Song Ye dodged her body to the side and at the same time raised her hand to slap Xiao Dao's hand with her chopsticks.

Xiao Dao was dumbfounded, but after thinking about it for a little, he calmed down. What can a fifteen year old young girl do? It was all merely an act.

Thinking about how he was embarrassed by her earlier, he smacked the table once again and stood up.

"Don't you fucking dare talk back to me. When I ordered you to go then you should do as I said, or else I'll slice your face up."

Up till this point, Song Ye had finally raised her head up and saw that the other party had took out a folding knife. Her gaze darkened and she obediently stood up and walked out of the restaurant after wiping her mouth clean.

"Hmph, keep up with that act. I will teach you a lesson later."

After paying her back for his embarrassment, Xiao Dao snorted and followed her footsteps.

When they were outside earlier, they saw that this girl who didn't look much like an adult had just casually took out a hundred bucks. In this age where workers that were working in the factory were only paid a few hundred, her action of showing her wealth had immediately caught their attention. After observing for 10 minutes and making sure she had no other companions, they walked up to her.

After the bunch of ruffians had left, the restaurant owner patted her chest to calm herself down. But when she thought about the young girl that was surrounded by the ruffians, she let out a long sigh.

Sigh, the poor girl sure was unfortunate.

At this moment, Song Ye had obediently followed the ruffians to be robbed had entered a residential house deep in the alley. After stepping through the small and narrow door, with a squeak, the door was shut.

Song Ye observed the simple residential house that only had a room and a common area under the dim lights and surprisingly found a bloodied man that had fainted in the corner.

"Haha, how is it. Satisfied with our territory?"

This was the first time Xiao Dao had seen such a weird girl. Seeing that the surrounding was silent, he looked at Song Ye's body shape, eyes filled with lust.

"Hand us all the money that you had now, and then, let us search through your body in case theres any that were left out."

Search? Song Ye never thought that these youths ages between seventeen to eighteen would have their thoughts strayed to that point. Remembering how she was disturbed when she was enjoying her meal, she casually took out the sixty bucks from her pocket and plainly said,

"Come and get it if you're able to."

Maybe they were stunned by her cold tone, the men stood there not moving while staring at the sixty bucks.

At last, it was Xiao Dao who spat out.

"What are you acting tough for, hurry and give it to me."

After finishing his sentence, he dashed towards the money. When his hands were in midair, his wrist was caught by a small hand. The hand was so cold he felt his scalp go numb.

During the moment he blanked out, the young girl in front of him twisted his wrist and the sound of breaking bones could be heard. Like a toy, Xiao Dao's arm was twisted into an ominous shape.

"AAAHHHH!"

At that moment, a scream could be heard throughout the house, it was so loud that the scream could be heard all around the house.
